It is with you the applicant... when employers say they are looking for xyz number of years of experience it doesn't necessarily have to be in that field exactly they just want to make sure that you have been busy with a lot of stuffs either on the set job or a personal development.
No company wants to hire a rusty applicant.
You have to find something creative doing as you hunt for job. setting down at home and complaining that you just graduated and they are expecting you to have 3 years experience, what it simply means is during your IT period what did you? During 2nd semester breaks what were you doing? all these are the experience they are asking you for.
