Car Talk › Re: Mercedes Benz E350 (2006) Vs C240 (2006) Which Should I Buy? by 2felix(m): 1:22pm On May 13, 2020 |
lonelydora: No doubt, the E-class is way higher than the C-class in every angle you are checking, but I don't know how deep your pocket is.
If you are a middle/average earner, go for the C-200 or 230, which is scarce to get in Nigeria these days. If you have any one abroad that can bring it for you, it is better than the rampant C-240 you see everywhere in Nigeria.
Whatever your options are, avoid the Kompressor version, which is cheaper and go for the 4matic version. U mean c-200 and 230 NA engine or the kompressor? |

Car Talk › Re: Nissan Xtrail 2.5 XL Does Not Start by 2felix(m): 1:59pm On May 11, 2020 |
aji2000: The xtrail is actually a very good suv, the challenge here is getting the right technician and mechanics.
N.B: So far the issue has being resolved. I had the vehicle scanned and it gave a P0340 error, cam shaft position sensor as I presumed. The one purchased by the technician I contacted was bad that is why it didn't work when we inserted into the vehicle. What we did was to clean the place where then sensor, and it worked instantly. Although I am still skeptical about my sensor because when I started the car this morning it wasn't idling well. I plan to have it serviced asap and also get a new sensor.
Please what kind of oil would you guys recommend for an xtrail suv 2005. I will keep you guys posted as events unfolds.
Thank you Thanks |

aji2000: Sorry about that, my Nissan is a 2005 model T30 engine. The only light that flashes is service engine soon light, and I was planning to change the oil and service it but was constrained by the lockdown. So you mean the sensors are the same? I am having difficulty getting a scanner for the vehicle How is your x trail so far? Will u advice some body to go for the 2005 model considering fuel economy, availability of parts and ruggedness |

nurey: The only issue you will have is it's underpowered because of the puny engine. don't expect any great acceleration or try stunt driving it through traffic. for the love of God, please don't over take trailer uphill and when doing so use Gear 3 incase it is manual
But as usual, buy crank and camshaft sensor extra in case of incasity OK thanks |

Car Talk › Re: Urgent Advice Needed: Choice Between 1999 & 2001 Mercedes Benz C Class. by 2felix(m): 4:19pm On May 05, 2020 |
Trac: The Mercedes in question uses SAE 0w-40. The sheet must be 229.1 specification. SAE 5w or 10w is permitted for this is for cranking and it cancels out. This is for the duration of the engine life; that is, 50 years or 1,000,000 miles (whichever comes first).
Mercedes engines have always been different. As the engine wears, it is thoroughly compensated. This phrase alone is beyond the scope of this thread. Using a thicker oil save for extreme towing only causes the engines to run hotter than designed and your bar (pressure) gets too high within the crankcase. This is besides the consideration that lubrication wouldn't be optimal.
In the summer, there are times my engine runs 110 degrees or 115 degrees (sometimes) and it has been for so many years. That is how it was designed to run according to the documentation. In addition to that, I do my oil changes every 15 to 18 months; and that goes for all my vehicles. Only once have I had to break the schedule and do an unplanned oil change. This was because for the better part of 9 hours, most of it was spent idling and creeping. This was a State evacuation. The state of the oil failed approximately 300 miles later. Don't attempt this with ordinary oil.
The 202 will be forgiving of oil noncompliance. The 203 wouldn't. W202 c180 and w202 c230 NA which do u recommend for durability and ease of maintenance? |

AmuDimpka: I drove that car for 3 years...it's a very rugged car and it doesn't consume fuel... especially the 180...it comes with 1.8L engine and it's 4 plugs
A good car...the parts are not all that Pricey, the full engine isn't even upto 110k, the shocks aren't expensive and the parts are easiest to get amongst all Benz ...you don't even need to go to Ladipo if you Stay in Lagos
It's a good car... But look out for Air Flow meter .... Thanks I thought c180 don't have air flow meter? |

Pls wanted to go for w202 c class c180 cause of the fuel economy , ruggedness, cheap parts n maintenance. I am coming from Honda bullet ( accord). But my wife feels I should go for something more recent like the w203 n above as the w202 look old skool. My budget of 1M can get me d w202 toks but if I go for recent models I will have to go for Nigeria used at that price which is a gamble. Pls I advice me n any other recommendations at my budget is welcomed |

This to contain the following phrases 1, all post to be very detailed for easy responds. 2, showing pictures of all screws that a novice can adjust at home. 3, set off appliances say a 2, 4, 5 kva can power. 4, copper coil is the best option.if the gen is needed for more than 2yrs. 5, for ac and bore hole use.....copper type is best. 6, for best enging output.....dont use more that 60% of rated output 50% of the times.....if engine needed for more than 2yrs. etc.
this to be reposted by you every month for easy referrals. and the page heading/tittle to carry note say....read page x/b /h before posting. Thus to me will make reading progressive.
