PhonesGLO Deductions: Isn't this Day Light Robbery? by 2mNaira(op):
A few day ago I received a notification from GLO that NGN 50 has been deducted from my credit for a subscription that I know I never made.I concluded it must be
as a result of system error and I just proceeded to send STOP to the number I was instructed to send STOP to if I wish to unsubscribe.

To my greatest surprise, some days after I received another notification that NGN 20 had been deducted from my credit for a ringing tone. Now, if u know me, you will know that I will never subscribe for a ring to in my dreams not to talk of in real life.
I became concerned.I asked myself if this is
not a malicious program whose objective is to steal from people.Imagined how much these monies will amount to if these deductions were done from the credits of just 5million people.

So, decided that I will have to think of something to do about it.The problem is that I have never been able to speak with a GLO customer service agent no matter how long I patiently waited.

While still thinking of the right course of action to take, just a few minutes ago I received a notification that an amount ( which I was too shocked to commit to memory ) had been deducted from my credit for the last sms I sent and, believe me, I did not send any SMS.

Pls what can I do to stop these train of unending deductions.

lalasticlala kindly help push these to front page.

You can learn the syntax of any language within weeks. programming languages are like 10-30% syntax, the rest is the stuff you learn from other languages. A really good programmer should be embrace a new language within weeks. if you cant, then examine yourself ohhhhh.

I hated mysqli cos is not object oriented that was why I settled for PDO.
The fact that your wrapper is object oriented with make object-oriented syntax lovets like me to fall in love with it.As far as php is concerned this ur wrapper makes a great deal sense
dhtml18:
You are a looking at An advanced, compact and lightweight MySQL database wrapper library, built around PHP's mysqli extension.
It provides methods for interacting with MySQL databases that are more powerful and intuitive than PHP’s default ones.

Features
* It uses the mysqli extension for communicating with the database instead of the old mysql extension, which is officially deprecated as of PHP v5.5.0 and will be removed in the future; again, this is not a wrapper for the PDO extension which is already a wrapper in itself
* It offers lots of powerful methods for easier interaction with MySQL
* It provides a better security layer by encouraging the use of prepared statements, where parameters are automatically escaped.
* It has comprehensive documentation and examples of usage included
* It allows easy ways of backing up and restoring your database.

ProgrammingRe: My New Year Resolution: 1 Million Naira A Month From Android App Dev In 2015 by 2mNaira: 7:22pm On Feb 16, 2016
nollyj:
I know this will not make sense to most people and some will even question if people make money from their android apps in Nigeria. The truth is that some Nigerians make money from their mobile apps the same way some developers in Nigeria are making from web application development.

I started developing android apps by chance late 2013 when a friend told me that he needed a simple android app. With no knowledge of android or mobile development, I went into research and started reading how to develop mobile application. Many months went by before I could wrap my head on it. When I finished with the project months later I decided that mobile application development will be fun to be doing as part-time projects.

I started trying my hands on two different types of applications. When I finished developing the applications I felt some sense of accomplishment. I quickly paid for a publisher account and hosted my apps in Google Play. I kept waiting to see downloads coming but I was disappointed months after. Negative thought of quitting android development came in but I was like since I am doing it part-time let me continue because I do not have much to lose even if I did not make any money.

I took some time out trying to understand why some developers have very successful apps in the store and why my apps are just getting 1 to 5 downloads a day. The more I read and research the better I understand how the Google Play market works.

I changed my mind set about the kind of ideas I previously have in mind to different categories of android apps. After three months of release I started seeing good result. But what happen subsequently surprised me. I started making more money that I previously thought.

The result actually gave me hope to do some more apps. This is end of 2014, a year and some months since I started developing mobile apps. My monthly revenue from my apps is around 200,000 – 250,000 Naira with almost (400,000 downloads)

Come 2015, I have taken a decision to push this revenue to 1 million Naira a month.

I know the question in your mind is how will I achieve this? I do understand that it will be difficult but I believe I can do it. I have made a long list of android apps and games I will develop next year and if many become successful I will be on my way to hit this target.

I will describe and document everything that I am doing to achieve this target on my blog (http://inducesmile.com/blog/) and other interesting information that can help make a mobile app successful.

As a developer, have you drawn up your target for 2015? If you have and want to share, please kindly come forward and do so.

I wish you all happy Christmas and successful 2015
Do developers make money from free android app or paid ones or both?

Mouth odour is refers to the condition of the mouth oozing out unpleasant smell. It is caused by bacteria on the tongue or in the mouth.

I beg to differ, Falana has also been defending corrupt individuals in Nigerian court's so what stops him from dragging the corrupt one's from his own perspective to the same court's in Nigeria were he has been defending his alleged corrupt client's?

If falana all of a sudden now lacks confidence from the same Nigerian judiciary he has always been a part of as well as benefited from then he is a indeed a legal spectacle.
I personally believe that falana took the matter to ICC specifically because of Okonjo-Iweala for the following reason:
1. Okonjo-Iweala is not resident in Nigeria and so Nigeria cannot try her.
2.Okonjo-Iweala is a woman of great international status and repute and as such Nigeria may be sluggish in trying her (if at all) even if she were living in Nigeria.
3.Because she is held high by the Igbos, the Igbos may cry out against the government and use some form of emotional blackmail to stop the trial. That may not be the case if ICC try her.

Femi Falana is just being smart. The truth is: in this case it is not easy to drag Ngozi to court not only in Nigeria but also at ICC.But the odds are higher at ICC.

And what third world country by the way spends $2.1bn on only arms??

This is exactly what happened the last time someone cried foul to mislead folks! That was how Sanusi said $49bn was missing, then it became $20bn.

Has anyone noticed that Buhari isn't looking for any missing $20bn from NNPC account!!?? Thats because there was no missing $20bn or $49bn - if you read PriceWaterCooper investigative audit report, then you would have known!

But everyone has forgotten the FRCN audit report which remains un-investigated, concerning alleged violation and misappropriations by former governor lamido sanusi!! Where he spent millions of Naira above his constitutional limit - on a Boko Haram member's family - without course to any budgetary approval and nothing happened; stella Oduah's parastatal as aviation minister - NCAA - did same and everybody wanted a trial!!

See confusion...............
CBN is allowed to spend money without budgetary approval. I remember that Sanusi was summoned by the senate over this issue I watch his defence in senate on TV. It was so convincing that the senate had to let it go.

Yes it is not mandatory, but in this particular case it will be senseless for nigeria not to comoerate with an effort to try of punish people who were accused of commiting crimes against her citizen.

The truth is this: Falana is very much in point. Why would nigeria government refuse to cooperate with people who are trying to get justice for wong done against her citizen.

You are practically asking for a miracle, he can't fault the argument that's if he even read it and comprehend it's content (s).
The argument can easily be faulted.
That country cannnot enforce an undomesticated law does not mean it must hinder investigation as a result of that law.

A country can decide to allow investigation as a result of that law if they choose or disallow it if they choose.
The only thing they may not do is to give up their citizen if a warrant for his arrest has been issued by the ICC.But then, if the citizen in question steps out of that country, nothing stops a foreign country from given the person up since he is not their citizen.

This petition may protect dasuki cause he is resident in Nigeria, but will definitely not protect Okonjo-Iweala who is resident outside Nigeria.
FamilyRe: Should A Woman Change Her State Of Origin After Marriage? by 2mNaira:
Askseek:
A lot of assumptions makes communication difficult. No where did I indicate that I dealt with 3rd parties? Its one thing to ask or use hypothetical scenarios or your personal experience. It is another to imply from the minuscule information that these documents were forged. I know exactly how Nigeria works and FYI I paid the official rate back then in 2001. I was in no hurry for a new passport and waited the length of time I was told, and the additional time I was asked to wait because it was not ready. You made assumptions in your post and are taking my comment to a completely different place. Like I said before my experience, and I can only speak to my experience. Is it possible I dealt with a naive office or someone who could not be bothered with doing the job well or someone who just did not know, very possible but that is something I will never figure out. What I know is I was not asked for that at the passport office Ikoyi. We need to stop assuming that everyone does things the mago mago way, or queue jumps.
First, I wasn't talking about you specifically. I was just explaining how things often work there in the hope that I may end up answering your question.
Second, I had no intention to imply that any document was forged. Those third party people do not produce fake documents. Al least to the best of my knowledge. They only somehow help you to do what you could have done yourself since they got you to pay more.

I remember stating in an old post that they could accept a marriage certificate in lieu of a letter of identification. But since you still asked a question in spite of that my statement, I attempted to come out with other possible reasons for asking for just a marriage certificate.

I hope you noticed that I stated that i did not understand your question, because somehow it seemed to me my post had addressed the issue.

To make thing clearer, the reason I quoted you in the first place was to explain to you why they could accept only a marriage certificate from you. You were wondering why they only accepted a marriage certificate from you and I stated in my post that they objective was to properly identify you and that they could choose to accept a marriage certificate from you in place of a letter of identification although it wa not standard. I was of the opinion that my post would have put an end to your wondering so I was at loss as to why you were asking a question again. In a bid to answer you question and put an end to the wondering I tried to be more descriptive.

This is the summary:
It is officially required that you provide a letter of identification from your LGA of origin/residence. They can decide to accept another document in lieu of it if they deem it equivalent.

Having, said all that, I think you somehow misunderstood my last post.

MODIFIED:
I read through my last post again and saw this:

What I am trying to communicate is this: in your own case, if you paid them, or any of their 'runs agent' an unofficial amount for the passport. They will demand only the documents that must necessarily come from you and help you get the rest.

Ok. I actually directly referred to you there. Not with standing, the gist of the foregoing explanation remain valid.

If the govt job is a job in your husband's state of origin, writing your husband's state of origin and LGA, is the smart thing to do. If you state that of your father, you may never get the JOB.

The person I quoted proferred an experience where she was asked to present a letter from her husbands LGA, in my experience I was asked for my marriage certificate to verify change of name. All other documents were presented to verify my identity. Is there anything else?
To be honest, I don't understand your question.

I also quoted the person you quoted. Perhaps you should read my response to her quote.

Because I don't understand you question, I will reiterate what I said but in other words.

Most people who apply for passport in Nigeria do not pay the official amount. The official amount is usually way, way lower that the amount people because the want their passport to be quickly issued( This is actually a form of queue jumping).

Because, they have paid or have been made to pay more that the required amount, the immigration officer (or person doing the processing), goes as far as helping the 'client' to get all required documents that doesn't have to compulsorily come from her.

For instance, if she doesn't have a birth certificate, they will help her get an age declaration; if she doesn't have an identification letter, they will help her get one.The unofficial amount she paid covers the cost of these unofficial services done for her by them.

They , however, cannot help her get a marriage certificate and such similar documents which must necessarily come from her.

What I am trying to communicate is this: in your own case, if you paid them, or any of their 'runs agent' an unofficial amount for the passport. They will demand only the documents that must necessarily come from you and help you get the rest.

I think the problem here is when we say Nigeria we are referring to a really large group of people and not all do the same. Culture differs. I never experienced this. When I got a new passport after marriage all I was asked for was marriage certificate.
If u did not pay the official cost of applying for a passport then the additional money u paid covers the cost of helping u get all required additional dicuments.

It is a standard requirement that u present a lettet identificatn frm ur LGA
of origin/ residence.

However since the purpose for asking that is to prioduce proof that you are the true bearer of dt name they can choose to accept a marriage certufucate in lieu of it thought it is not standard. The idea is to properly identify you.

Your family friend is correct. Legally a married woman's state of origin and LGA reverts to her husbands. That is why Patience Jonathan could be a perm. sec. in Bayelsa state, whereas she's from Rivers.
No, state of origin does not change rather your state of citizenship becomes dual. For a married woman, you are a citizen of the state of your origin and also a citizen of the state of orugin of your husband. Y can lay claim to any.

However if the woman wishes to enjoy a privilege meant for only citizens of her husband state, she is allowed to claim her husband's state of origin as her own. Afterall she bears his surname and that name has its origin in that state.

I really don't know.
But I remember when I wanted to get intl passport a while ago and they asked me for letter of identification from my LGA, I gave them the one I had but they were saying I needed one from my hubby's LGA since I'm now married in a different state. I was Like 'for real'!

I certainly didn't know where his LGA headquarters is. much less traveling there to look for letter of identification.
I think I paid them some money and they did some abracadabra and my passport was ready.

I was already hot, tired and getting frustrated from much activity that day. So I didn't really care if they were saying it to fleece me of some money or if I was legally required to adopt a new place of identification as soon as I got married.

But you're right people do expect women to change everything about them when they get married. So don't mind those yabbing your thread as if what you're saying is a lie or doesn't happen.
Your example is not relevant to this discussion unless you still go by your maiden name. U were about to be issued an identity card( so to say) that would bear your husband's name. What is needed is a letter to identify you to prove you have a right to that name. They were not interested in your origin. They were interested in confirming that you are a recognised bearer of that name. There is a whole world of difference between ur identity (as it relates to name u are identified by ) and your origin. Your name identity may change but but your origin never chsmanges.

Consider this scenario.Suppose u go abroad with ur passport and commit a crime and they wish to track you down. The name that will be used in tracking u down will be that on your passport which will definitely not be your maiden name.

If however you still go by your maiden name in spite of the fact that you are married all that I stated above will not apply.

The letter they askec for was lettet of identification not origin.

Years back I got my first passport during my NYSC. Considering my unique situation. The said they would accept an idrntifucation letter from either the NYSC or my place of primary assignment in lieu of one from
my LGA of origin/ LGA of residence.

The applucation for a passport officially requures a lettet of identification from your LGA of origin or LGA of residence showing clearly that the emphasis is on proving u are the true bearer of that name I mean your surname.

However because those immigration pple wish to make money frm people, they will never tell u that a letter of idrntification from you LGA of residence is also acceptable. When you pay them. They will just proceed to get a lettet of identification for you from the nearest LGA claiming that that is your LGA of residence.

if you think so, then explain to me

How can you be sure that the errors are in translation and not the true content.

And tell me.. According to the evidence so far, we can all agree that there are some "errors" in the bible.. mostly because there where two different contradictory accounts.. if they have where only one account, we never would have know and would have believed it even tho it might have been the wrong one..

my question now is how can we be sure that events that happened in the bible which happen to have only one person account are actually true..

PS. pls Don't start telling me stories of holy spirit will lead you and faith bla bla bla.. Give me a valid point.
Please, understand me rightly. I do not believe that there is any error in the bible. For the records, there are no errors in the bible. Not even a single one. But I did state that there are TRANSLATION errors in the ENGLISH bible.

There is one insignificant way to to find out if there are transcription errors in the bible. Learn the original language, both Greek and Hebrew, then study the original manuscript for yourself.

Please not e my use of the word transcription. Most bible accounts were dictated by the person who was inspired to state them. Most of dictators of the account were illiterates, they spoke as they were inspired, then some literate person wrote down there dictations. These people had no way to tell if there messages were accurately transcribed because they were illiterates that God only choose to use.

Note also my use of the word insignificant. I states that if after you may have learned the original languages and you found out that there were actually transcription errors, that also in itself is no sufficient enough to discredit the account in the transcription. Bible says "...out of the mouth of two or three witnesses... a word shall be established. God in his wisdom, knowing that humans due to their fallibility can make transcription errors, created an avenue such that several persons were inspired to dictate the same message, so that several transcribers can transcribe the message. By so doing, he gave us different versions of the same inspired utterance so that if for any reason any of the transcribers made a transcription error we can refer to other similar accounts for cross-checking, by so doing we can use the intelligence he gave us to capture or deduce the original message. The reason for multiple accounts of the same message is to make it possible to still accurately communicate the intended message irrespective of human failures resulting in transcription error. Now that is what I call divine wisdom.

So, to the person who is born again, the message remains perfectly communicated. But the scholars, the scientist, the historians and atheist. Continue to grope and stumble in darkness.

The bible say's " I lay in Zion a stone..." bible tell us that that stone is a stumbling block to the Greeks ( which were the scientist and philosophers) and the Jews ( which were the historians and scholars) , bible said that stone is however salvation to those that are destined for salvation.
Put succinctly, until you get born again, you will miss the divine message divinely communicated by God through the bible. You will have difficulty deciphering its content.

Friend, there are absolutely no errors in the bible. That book was divinely contrived to pass a message. The is why you must never read its content in isolation. They all work together to pass across one message- Jesus, the way, the truth, the life.

That is why bible tells its born again readers,"Study" to show yourself approved unto God." When you study the bible and you are opportune to understand it, you will realise that there are absolutely no errors, on contrary you will marvel at the genius of deity.
Please, when I say studying the bible, I do not mean reading just one King James Version. That is not study. For effective study, you must have made reference to at least nine different translations, you must have made reference to the original text, you must have studied some Greek and some Hebrew and you must have read the text in the original language either by using a Greak-english dictionary or Hebrew-english Dictionary or some other similar approach.
If you do that and you get to truly understand the bible you will be the last person in the world to say that there are errors in the bible because you would have gotten the divine message that the scientists, scholars, atheist and historians would never get.

Look at it like this: in my post, i made what some typographic, and possibly, spelling errors which some individual who does not understand our discourse will quickly point out ass errors, but to you my message to you remain preserved, well communicated and well understood.

If that indeed be the case, then inspite of what the ignorant nairaland passerby may say, I met my goal, I communicated my mind to you through some agency.

So, friend, if you really want to understand, the bible, you must be born-again. Will you like to be born again?

Yes please, provide more. We are all learning.
I have been a born again xtian for decades.I read the bible from cover to cover several times as a tenager.

I can confidently tell u that there are no errors whatsoever in the bible.Remember that the bible was not written in English.
Howrver, I do admit that there are a lot of tranlation errors in the english bible.
If you have ever read the introduction to bible translations the translators state that what they have presented is
the best they could based on their knowledge of the oruginal language.By so stating they were declaring that the translation cannot be said to be perfect.

The only reason why there are many translations of the English Bible is because efforts are constantly being made to get more accurate translation of the bible.

Perhaps the least accurate Engish translation of the bible is the King James Version.Ironically, it is the most widely read, most widely accepted and most widely bought version for many reasons are:
1.Its use of old english gives a sense of holiness and piety to readers and reciters.
2.It is perhaps the easiest to commit to memory.
3.It is has been around for so long and has the greatest following and consequent next-generation following
down the ages.

Shocking as it may seem, most modern translation if the Bible are more accurate than KJV.A few of the reason for this are as follows:
1.KJV was not translated from the original Greek and Hebrew version. It was translated from the Vulgate which was a latin version.
2.The oldest manuscripts of the bible were found by archeoligist in modern times.
3.Modern day translators of the bible to english have better understanding of the original languages in which the bible was written than their older generation counterparts.

4.Becuse of development in teaching and education modern day man has a (and he keeps developing) much more better approach to translation.

The bible is all of academic, scientific, history and spiritual book.

As an academic book it is studies by a great many scholars in a great many theogical schools and universuties.

As a scientific book it is being studied by various scientist who are mosty archeokigist.Scienrists and archeoligist have found its account quite revealing and accurate.

As an history book, historians continue pore over it.

As a spiritual book, BORN AGAIN christians read and study it.Please notice that I placec an emphasis on the word born again.

Because the bible is a spiritual book. It exist as a closed book.Only BORN AGAIN christians can understant it. Other categories of people like scholares, hisorisns, and scientist may be knowlegeable and pissible versed in it.They can never understand it unless they are born again.

Yes, you may be knowlegeble in it, yes you may be versed in it, but you will never understand it until you get born again.A typical example a person who was knowlegeble and versed in in but did not understand it was Nucodemus who was a pharisee.
Another example of someone of a person who was knowkegeable and versed in it bur did not understand it was Saul of Tarsus who was a lawyer. In fact, in Jesus's days, the pharisees, saduccees and scribes fell into.the said category.

Unbelievable as it may sound , Jesus's dusciples too fell into this category during his earthly days.

As would be expected, a great many people exist today who are knowlegrable in the bible, versed in it but do not understand it. They can be found both offline and online.

It is rather ironic thay these people who are knowlegeable, versed in but do not understand the bible are the ones who think they underand it them most. They are quite easy to identify because they are quick to argue about thr bible.

Having said all that a person who is not born again may get the rare oppirtunity to have a certain degree of understanding of the bible, but that occurs at the descretion if God.

A good case in point is the dedciple of Jesus. They all knew Jesus was the christ but the never really understood the import of that knowlege until one day when God revealled it meaning to peter.

In closing I will say that there are no errors in the bible but there are tranlation errors in English tranlations if the bible.
