You might counter and loss it.

But you might accept and still not get sold cos they will feel that could have gotten it cheaper. It's also not advisable to take their first offer, which means counter, no matter how little.

So what I would do is add $100 to their offer and be firm.

If they truly wanted it, they will buy and if they are not serious, you would at least know that your counter was not the cause of their declination.

Contacted one via Whatsapp before buying the domain, main reason as you may know is that they prefer their own extention. But he showed interest and asked me how much? I quickly rushed and registered it, set up a landing page and quoted $1,200, negotiable. According to him, the CEO will be back in two days time to finalize the deal. I hope everything works out fine.
