An adopted son is one's son. Joseph accepted Jesus as a son.
@ABuzola, you are indirectly destroying your Quran!
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 11:52am On Sep 06, 2009
You free thinkers reading this are surely nodding your head knowing the fault in this circular reasoning.  You Christians reading this are probably still clinging like  a Confussed  6 year old boy.  Well, no matter how hard you try to hold on Jesus pimps, I’m going to blow a hole through your lie and spread it’s short comings to everyone I meet.  We all know I find it my self appointed duty to expose the Christian/Jewish scriptures.  Which is precisely what I’ll do right now  kiss

@ABuzola, you are indirectly destroying your Quran!

That means its not from David's blood.

We can keep doing some elliptical reasoning. Truth is the truth, there is none of David's blood flowing in him. Or if there is, then there is no virgin birth, abi?

Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by dexmond: 12:10pm On Sep 06, 2009
I'm not threatening you. In trying to fight against christianity, you forget what suratul mariam has to say about Jesus.

Let it not appear that you are indirectly speaking against the Quran.
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 12:19pm On Sep 06, 2009
Dear Believer:

I do not accept the Bible as God’s word because it contains thousand of errancies and contradictions that can not be solved, only rationalized.  I refuse to accept Jesus as my personal savior sad , for his behavior and teachings often expose one who should be escaped and not worshipped.  I ask that you read this pamphlet in light of the bible’s teachings; Christians should be “open to reason” (James 3:17 ), that we should “reason together” (Isaiah 1:18) and “he who hates correction will die” (Proverbs 15:10) to understand my perspective that the bible has MANY shortcomings.

1.  According to your Bible I am to believe that human kind is sinful for Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge.  Why are we being punished for the original sin?  After all, they ate the forbidden fruit, we didn’t.  Reason would lead one to say it’s their problem, not ours.  Even the bible contradicts itself by claiming in Deuteronomy 24:16, “children shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers.”

2.  Heaven is supposed to be a perfect place.  It is of course, the place you strive for and name “salvation”.  Yet, it experienced a war (Revelation 12:7).  How can there be a war in a perfect place and if it happened before why couldn’t it happen again?  Why would I want to go to a place in which war can occur?  That’s exactly what I’m trying to escape, aren’t you?

3.  We are told salvation is obtained by faith alone (John 3:18 & 36) and then the Bible claims that it is repentance that shall save us (2 Peter 3:9) yet Jesus told a man to follow the Commandments-Matthew 19:16-1 8 (saving by works)-if he wanted eternal life. So which way is it and how do you know your belief is the correct one?

4.  If the Bible is our moral guide, then how can it make pornographic statements such as: “. . . they may eat their own dung and drink their own piss with you” (2 Kings 18:27)?  Also consult Numbers 31 where a whole tribe of people, including the elderly and children are slaughtered.  The only survivors were the virginal women, who were later raped by the “just and perfect” Moses and his men.  Is that what you're  hungry reading on Sunday?

5.  If God created everything, (Colossians 1:16, Ephesians 3:9, Revelation 4:11 & John 1:3), then he did create the world’s evil (Isaiah 45:7, Lamentations 3:38). Thus, he is responsible.  Any being who could create situations such as rape, death, malnutrition, disease, molestation and murder is certainly not fit for worship.

6.  For justice to exist, punishment must fit the crime.  No matter how many bad deeds one commits in this world, there is a limit.  Yet, hell’s punishment is infinitely greater.  It’s eternal.  Shouldn’t a sinner suffer until remorse is felt and the crime is atoned for?  What “justice” is there in infinite damnation?

7.  Jesus said, “whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire” (Matthew 5:22).  Yet, he himself did so repeatedly, as Matthew 27:19, Luke 11:40 & 12:20 show.  Shouldn’t he be in danger of hell too?  Jesus also told us to “Love your enemies; bless them that curse you," but ignored his own advice by repeatedly denouncing his opposition.  Matthew 12:34 (“0 generation of vipers”), and Matthew 23 :27 (“. . . hypocrites. . . ye are like unto whited sepulchres.“) are excellent examples of hypocrisy.  If Jesus himself is a sinner by his own admission then surely he can not be the “perfect lamb of god”.

8.  Except those of biased Christian writers, there isn’t one writing outside the Bible in all of ancient history that clearly refers to Jesus of Nazareth.  The decision to dedicate my life to a deity requires at least one shred of conclusive evidence.  Your lord knows non believers exist as a result of this, yet he makes no attempt to supply proof.  How can the bible claim god wants all in heaven if he doesn’t make efforts to ensure that we all believe in him?

9.  Paul says Christianity lives or dies on the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:14-17).  Yet Jesus made many promises concerning his return during the lifetime of his then followers. (Matthew 16:28: “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom”.   Matthew 23:36, 24:34, Mark.9:1, 13:30, Luke 9:27, 21:32 & John 21:22) None of these prophecies have come true.  Does this not make Jesus a false prophet?   If so wouldn’t that make Christianity invalid?

10.  I find the idea that a man had to die for my sins revolting. If God was truly omnipotent he could have simply forgiven us. What kind of deity, would execute one child in order to forgive it’s others?  Modern society would call an individual like this sadistic, insane and cruel. Surely, you would not worship a child killer, why do you expect me to?  Would you find a judge worthy of the title who would allow my child to be executed in lieu of my sins?

11.  John 14:12 states a follower in Jesus can perform any of his works and do it even greater.  If you continue to insist I believe in Jesus, it is only fair I may ask of you to show just how strong your faith is. After all, you would be my “mentor” in Christ.  I’m not a believer as of yet, but surely you are.  Would you mind perhaps resurrecting a dead relative or walking on water?

12.  Okay, obviously you didn’t do number 11 and backed out with the “this is metaphorical” excuse.  Surely you can try Mark 16:17-1 8 which says believers can drink “any deadly thing” and “it shall not hurt” them.  But I don’t think you would be naive enough to drink any arsenic offered.  Perhaps I’m wrong and you would be willing to test the Book’s veracity-”lay it on the line” so to speak?

13. All right, so now you have backed out of two of my questions.  I’m starting to think you don’t really care about my salvation as much as you claim.  Well, unlike your Jehovah, I shall be kind and offer a third chance at redemption.  Consider Jesus’ teaching in Luke 6:30 “Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.”  Perhaps, if you emptied your wallet and “give of thee” I may seriously ponder accepting Jesus as my savior.  i think i got some proofs now as you requested?

You are making me fear and trembling with curiousity, what have i said against the Quran. The Quranic jesus differ from biblical jesus. Jesus was crucified according to ur bible and jesus is the son of God, or am i wrong ?
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 12:27pm On Sep 06, 2009
Mr Abuzola. . . they just ask me for proofs or evidence on what i have been sharing concerning the christian believe but now i have my proofs below they're ignoring the truth. I share what i know and need all christ followers to show their face by kindly Contributing brilliant responds.

I will give answers to the above. Hearing you will hear, but you will not understand because you have not been baptized into JESUS' body.
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Abuzola(m): 12:47pm On Sep 06, 2009
Dexmond thats not the way to admonish. What kind of speech is that, saying he won't understand except he is baptize, this shows that you want to forge unrelevant and senseless answer. Ogaga need a relevant answer and not fuss. Please change ur tactic, thats not the way to admonish
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by dexmond: 12:56pm On Sep 06, 2009
I don't mean to insult anybody. If you feel it is an insult, i humbly and sincerely apologise. Our christian doctrine can become meaninful after God has given revelation by the power of his spirit. That is why it will be near impossible for you to understand the doctrine of God being a trinity!

We have used different examples like A adult who is a father, an uncle and a husband all at once. We said water can exist as a solid, liqiud and gas.

Brash! embarassed  that's not an answer. . .speaking in a porpullar parable doesn't mean you're Correct. sorry but honestly speaking it has come to my deepest notice you know nothing about Christianity not talking about Religion, though you didn't supprise me because i have seen so many of your type. . . Telling me a person must be Baptised in the dead Jesus BODY is not that sufficient for excusses,Why do you choose to argue all your life without providing 1 Hour  or more to think with your BRAIN,for goodness sake you're not sharing with Kids.,please stop and reason.

Kindly show us in the bible where jesus said God is trinity
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by dexmond: 1:46pm On Sep 06, 2009
Jesus never said he is/was a trinity. We infer from comments such as:

John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” When first encountered, this might not seem to be a claim to be God. However, when we look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement, “For a good work we stone thee not; replied the Jews, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.”

John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said unto him [Jesus], My Lord and my God.

Hebrews 1:8
But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

John 15:26: "But when the Comforter is come whom I will send unto you from the Father, He shall testify of me."
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Abuzola(m): 2:48pm On Sep 06, 2009
You have intelligently dodged my question. Since u have no answer to my question then i presume jesus never knew trinity.

You quoted verses that jesus is God, am i right ? We are going to take a new dimension on who is God using the bible.

Mathew 27:46 jesus cried 'my God, My God why hast thou forsaken me' this verse disqualify jesus as God.

Mathew 14:23 'and after he (jesus) had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray' This shows that jesus worship God so how can he be God.

Finally: john 17:25 jesus said
'O Righteous father, the world has not known thee, but i have known thee, and these know that thou hast sent me'

the message is clear, can God send himself or utter jagons, how can God be talking to himself.
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by dexmond: 2:55pm On Sep 06, 2009
Does God have all the powers? If he has all the powers, can he change to anything? If he can change to anything, is it impossible for him to become man? If he becomes man, does that disqualify him as God?

How is it that we all believe that God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnopresent, we can not believe he took human form to pay the penalty for sinful man?
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Abuzola(m): 3:23pm On Sep 06, 2009
God is super power, agreed ! You are cunning. If God was man why did God do what i quoted, it disqualify God, how can God be telling us that he was sent by himself, why would God cry accusing himself of forsaking himself, why should God pray to himself, Why can God do nothing except by himself, tautology ? Absolutely absurd
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by dexmond: 3:50pm On Sep 06, 2009
To all your questions. Jesus had dual a personality! He cried, he thirst, he prayed, he fasted. All is to show the perfect way to serve God. He practised what he taught and left examples for those who wants to see God at the end. He performed miracles, he forgave sins which humans committed against God! he lived a righteous life and rose again as he predicted and as the Tawrat said!

Lord, I thank you for the privilege of knowing you. Not because I'm more qualified than those who are still searching, but that you might demonstrate that knowing you is entirely by your own revelation of your person. Thank you lord.
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Abuzola(m): 4:44pm On Sep 06, 2009
Dexmond- the truth doesn't need fashion. God had to be a man to teach people the Godly way. Hilarious ! Why the waste of time for centuries, why did God destroyed innocent generation. Your God did not leave animals, old , infant and women of the sinning people, He outrightly exterminated them- see Deuteronomy 3:6-7, Hosea 13:16, isaiah 13:16. The world is believe to be billions of years and it was 2,000 years ago that God decided to incarnate and come to the world to guide man, is this fair ? is this reasonable at all ?

God becoming a man. Lets look at what the scripture had to say pertinent to man

jeremiah 51:17
'Every man is stupid and without knowledge'

is this who ur God is ?

Mr man wake up and search for the truth before its too late
Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 5:02pm On Sep 06, 2009
A deity who remains silent and invisible should not get angry or surprised at doubt of His reality. sad Like the porpullar
questions Christians ask of me often tend to have built in answers, supporting their own theological world view.
Example "WHO made the universe?" therefore if you keep your ass back hiden to submit me some proofs about ((God)) then do not waste your time on me.If you can invent a great God, I can inven a greater God and it is Gods all the way up.

hehe. . . "God is raising up an army of believers to take back the land and Reclaim Nigeria. grin grin

Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 6:12pm On Sep 06, 2009
I am Perfect and you know it. Is it not better to place a question mark upon a problem while seeking an
answer than to put the label "God" there and consider the matter closed?.Well i you've already known Jesus is not my best friend, I have real friends. Period

Re: Who Is Jesus Christ? by kolaxy(m): 10:33pm On Sep 06, 2009
Who Is Jesus Christ?

Christ

Meaning: anointed, the Greek translation of the Hebrew word translated “Messiah”

Christ is the official title of our Lord, occurring 1,514 in the New Testament. It denotes that he was anointed or consecrated to his great redemptive work as Prophet, Priest, and King of his people. He is Jesus the Christ (Acts 17:3; 18:5; Matt. 22:42), the Anointed One. He is thus spoken of by Isaiah (61:1), and by Daniel (9:24-26), who describes him as “Messiah the Prince.”

The Messiah is the same person as "the seed of the woman" (Gen. 3:15), "the seed of Abraham" (Gen. 22:18), the "Prophet like unto Moses" (Deut. 18:15), "the priest after the order of Melchizedek" (Ps. 110:4), "the rod out of the stem of Jesse" (Isa. 11:1, 10), the “Immanuel,” the virgin's son (Isa. 7:14), "the branch of Jehovah" (Isa. 4:2), and “the messenger of the covenant” (Mal. 3:1).

This is he "of whom Moses in the law and the prophets did write." The Old Testament Scripture is full of prophetic declarations regarding the Great Deliverer and the work he was to accomplish. Jesus the Christ is Jesus the Great Deliverer, the Anointed One, the Savior of men. This name denotes that Jesus was divinely appointed, commissioned, and accredited as the Savior of men (Hebrews 5:4; Isa. 11:2-4; 49:6; John 5:37; Acts 2:22).

To believe that "Jesus is the Christ" is to believe that he is the Anointed, the Messiah of the prophets, the Savior sent of God, that he was, in a word, what he claimed to be. This is to believe the gospel, by the faith of which alone men can be brought unto God. That Jesus is the Christ is the testimony of God, and the faith of this constitutes a Christian (1 Cor. 12:3; 1 John 5:1)   wink

Isaiah 53 (Prophesy and Vision of Prophet Isaiah about Jesus Christ )

1 Who has believed our message?
To whom has the LORD revealed his powerful arm?
2 My servant grew up in the LORD's presence like a tender green shoot,
like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him.
3 He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.

4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows* that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!
5 But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God's paths to follow our own.
Yet the LORD laid on him
the sins of us all.

7 He was oppressed and treated harshly,
yet he never said a word.
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
And as a sheep is silent before the shearers,
he did not open his mouth.
8 Unjustly condemned,
he was led away.*
No one cared that he died without descendants,
that his life was cut short in midstream.*
But he was struck down
for the rebellion of my people.
9 He had done no wrong
and had never deceived anyone.
But he was buried like a criminal;
he was put in a rich man's grave.

10 But it was the LORD's good plan to crush him
and cause him grief.
Yet when his life is made an offering for sin,
he will have many descendants.
He will enjoy a long life,
and the LORD's good plan will prosper in his hands.
11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,
he will be satisfied.
And because of his experience,
my righteous servant will make it possible
for many to be counted righteous,
for he will bear all their sins.
12 I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier,
because he exposed himself to death.
He was counted among the rebels.
He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

JESUS CHRIST'S SUFFERING

He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death." (Mt 26:37-38)

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Is 53:3 (See all of Isaiah 53)

Because He suffered as a man, He cried out with tears to His Father. Heb 5:7-8

People spat at Him, hit Him, and mocked Him. Mt 26:67-68, Mt 27:27-32, Mt 27:36-44, Lk 23:8-11

He was crucified. Mt 27:27-56, Mk 15:16-41, Luke 23:26-49, Jn 19:1-37

On the cross, He was forsaken (or felt forsaken) by His Heavenly Father, whom He was obeying. Mt 27:27-56 (See Christ's Obedience)

He felt the pain of anticipating His crucifixion and the corresponding spiritual battle. Lk 12:50, Mt 17:12, Mt 16:21, Mt 17:22-23, Mt 20:17-19, Mk 10:32-34, Lk 9:43-45, Lk 18:31-34

As a man, He dreaded the terrible trial ahead. Mt 26:36-38, Lk 22:39-54 (See in context: Mt 26:36-56, Mk 14:32-42, Lk 22:39-54)

Even before His crucifixion, He had no earthly dwelling that He regarded as home. Lk 9:57-58

He felt physical weariness. Jn 4:6

He suffered the anguish of temptation just as we do. Heb 4:14-16, Mt 4:1-11, Mk 1:12-13, Lk 4:13

He felt deep compassion for those in need. Mt 9:36-38, Mk 6:34

He wept when Lazarus died. Jn 11:33-37

He wept over Jerusalem because the people were blind to their coming destruction - and to His salvation. Lk 19:41-44

People did not understand His loving sacrifice - that He would die for their sins. Is 53:8 (See all of Isaiah 53)

He was misunderstood by His own hometown and relatives. Mk 6:3-6

He had no stately form or majesty that people would be attracted to Him. Is 53:2, Is 52:13-15 (See all of Isaiah 53)

He was despised by men. Is 53:3 (See this verse in context: Isaiah 53)

He was betrayed by a close friend (Judas). Jn 13:21, Lk 22:2-6, Lk 22:47-48, Mt 26:47-50, Mt 26:14-16

At the peak of His suffering, even His disciples forsook Him and fled. Mt 26:56 (See in context: Mt 26:36-56)

People hated Him without a cause. Jn 15:22-25, Jn 7:6-8

People falsely attributed His works as Satan's. Mt 12:23-24, Mk 3:21-23, Lk 11:14-16

People thought that He had a demon. Jn 8:48-59

He was falsely classified as a glutton and a winebibber. Mt 11:18-19

Men despised Him and nations abhorred Him. Is 49:6-7

He was turned away. Mt 8:34, Mk 5:17, Lk 8:37

His own people, whom He created, did not receive Him. Jn 1:10-13

They thought He was out of His mind. Mk 3:21-23

Leaders plotted against Him. Mt 22:15, Mt 26:3-5, Mk 3:6, Mk 11:19, Lk 20:20, Jn 5:15-18, Jn 11:57

Even before the crucifixion, people attempted to kill Him. Lk 4:28-30

Knowing the murderous intentions of the spiritual leaders, He sometimes had to withdraw. Mt 12:14-15, Lk 13:31, Jn 7:1

Even as small child, His life was sought, and His family had to leave their own country. Mt 2:13-15

Note: He endures all the pains because he loves you and me.

'Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma'. Ephesians 5:2
