It has always been a collective effort of our polithiefcians from all parts of the country to continuously plunge the country into difficulties. We cant absolve any of them of any wrongdoing but Donald Duke is simply saying that Buhari has A1 in Politicking and F9 in Economics. The politicking further reposition in for another term which serves his own interest only but you and I know that Nigerians are hungry(economy)

Forget the messenger, the message is very important.
IamPatriotic:
Duke, you're a State Governor for 8 years, please sir, what did you do in that state to prevent Lagos from collapsing? Talk is cheap, they say,so talk on.

Thank you but secession won't work unless you are ready for war I mean to face Nigeria brutal army otherwise they will waste your people for nothing. I support regional government.

People should be allowed to control their resources and develop at their own pace. That way the regions will have no one but themselves to blame for their own backwardness.

Exponential population growth is not a 'blessing', it is usually the result of gross indiscipline, ignorance and stupidity.

Once we realize that we can tackle the problem.

Also, where are the stats to support the claim that 750,000 people move to Lagos every year?

1.Lagos traffic

Heaven knows these is one of the hellish and most annoying thing Lagosian go through daily, all the road are either bad or being in the state of comatose for more than a year due to reconstructuring and slow executions of projects by hes croonics called contractors.

how do you explain the traffic on the island and mainland,u spend most of your time on traffic, you wonder what happen to the fear of lasma we have during fashola regime, all you see is danfo drivers picking and causing traffic in all bus stops.

2.Refuse

lagos has turn to what i called a bin,no street in lagos you will pass through where there will not be gabbages of rubbish in streets, highways etc,he he is clueless on managing waste that was going on fine during fashola era,Ambode gave expatriate to manage the waste in his state these can only be said of someone who is clueless.

3. Infrastructures.

forget all the Elephant project,Ambode is looting Lagos dry,no accountable on all the project in lagos,is either those projects are over budgeted or projected in a manner that one will wonder what's going on,remember Abule Egba bridge and Ojota pedestrian bridge this is just one of those project, and someone should tell him o stop buying generators to power those street,a sensible and visionary leaders envisage and solve problems that may arise in the future not buying generators to police and adding to global warming.

4.Education.

i have not seen anything in these area,Ambode still enjoy all the policies Fashola put into place, fashola build and renovated all the public schools and created some learning and research centres for children with special attributes, but ambode seems not to understand that Lagos populace needs more and viable world class education centres to meet up with the rest of the world.

Amdode has no idea to turn the education of the state around,go to some public school today it will suprise you that some don't have chairs they sit on floor to attends to lectures.

5.Electricity

someone should educate mr Ambode that the whole body of lagos is covered with water, and there is something they called Hydro thermal energy, these can generate more than 34,000 megawatts of electricity and he can sell to neighboring state and earn more money,he should stop buying generators to power all the street light in lagos, this is 2017 for heaven sake the arctic ice is melting, there is global warming he should meet professionals,a nuclear fusion reactors that can be easily shut down by water can serve the whole nation instead of waiting for the unfortunate people at the senate to pass a bill on devolutions of electricity bill that will never see the light of the day.

6.Employment

The lagos state govermnet website advertised some opening recently i will ask how many people was able to apply and get the job,he favored hes croonics, party cheiftance favored the meneber of hes church,no JOB is thrown at the masses,he recruited LASMA recently, where are they today, now neighborhood watch,he waste so much on unproductive projects, most of these projects also take eternity before execution.

Go to street of lagos all you see are hungry and angry youth roaming the street, cos no job which has already paved way to differnet crime in the state,he should come up with idea to employ the common man on the street not all these unproductive job that add nothing to the state.

7.Health.

lagos still don't have viable health scheme,go to our various hospital you will be amazed and cry for us as a nation's,no tools to work on,no word class health equipments you buy bed space, you pay for everything, annoying thing is they fly abroad if they have malaria, lagosian should be wise and these issues of God father has to stop, vote for a sensible and visionary leaders that will add value to your life

Count the number of passengers that alight from luxurious buses coming from the SE, and coaster busrs from other parts of the country, who disembark at the various motor parks in Lagos, everyday.

Every Year, Almost 750,000 People troop into Lagos in search of greener pastures. Now compare that figure to the amount that spills into ogun every year... Absolutely incomparable. End of the matter is, Something HAS to be Done.

I'll agree with him on that. The economic burden on the state is gradually surpassing its economic resources that it has. As the population grows, crime is definitely going to be on the increase this is because everyone will be struggling to survive at all cost and at whatever means. Other regions as a matter of fact, arise and do something to save their people. Benue can become the agro processing hub of the country likewise Taraba, Kaduna and Niger State. The burden on Lagos is getting too much.

People don't just troop in to Lagos for no reason, it offers peace. Agitation and restiveness in other parts of Nigeria has not helped develop conductive business environment in those areas. I remember Warri was growing into an hub for oil business before 1999-2000 Ijaw/Itsekiri crises that forced many to relocate to P/harcourt. Port Harcourt itself has since turned into cult arena. Religious crisis in the north makes the region not business friendly. How many times almajiris have destroyed other people's thriving business

PointZerom:
"He lambasted the Buhari government for showing more interest in politics than economics. “And if you don’t get the economics right, then governance cannot work. You cannot be competitive when you are not productive. The first thing is how do we get productive?”
Duke also criticised the way states in Nigeria have been set up. “And there is no master-plan to make each one of them an economic entity. So, we have a country, where a blessing (exponential population growth) is turning into a curse, because in the next three years, our population will be 200 million, yet all the productive indices are going down. “Lagos may be crowded out. Every year, 750,000 new people come to Lagos to reside, the economy cannot support that. So if you don’t get the rest of the country working, Lagos itself will collapse".
We need to open up other states.

We need massive construction of roads and railways.

We need to dredge the ports outside of Lagos to make them more functional. The ports as they are cannot bert big ships.

FG and states should build industrial parks in each state with good roads and electric power supply.

Efforts should be increased on the parts of FG and states to ramp up agricultural production.

This will reduce migration to Lagos.

We in the SW are not against development of ports in the SE and SS.

The problem we have with people with your kind of brain is that you think other people's blessing is responsible for your curse.

If you believe you must put others down for you to go up, you will never go up yourself.

The government has been playing politics with this. I see no reason why people in SS/SE should be importing through Lagos port. Nigerians suffer s a negative net effect of this foolishness. Those who truly love Nigeria would not mind anything that leads to its overall development.

You don't know how many of those people are visiting and how many are moving to Lagos.

What we need is a proper census to count how many people live in each particular city, state, town or village. Instead of the useless 'state of origin' nonsense that helps no one.

Until that happens we won't know how many people move to Lagos to live.
