*FOLLOW THROUGH IN DIVINE PROCESS* Hebrews 12:1-2.

*There is a race set in front of every man.* This is the very reason why a man was sent on earth - his very destiny. Every training and process God brings the way of man is to this end.

There is a race set before you. It is your own particular race that is tailor-made for you. *From our text, the word “… looking unto Jesus …” means looking away from every other thing unto this one. That means there will be many other things that will be calling for your attention but you must concentrate on this one.*

The cross is not a wooden tree that you nail yourself on, the cross is the will of God that He chose for you. God does not design the cross for you to enjoy. The reason many people don't go through process is because there is a shame involved in it. But look at the testimony of Jesus in Hebrews 12:2 again. He endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

As you come under ministration and the influence of the Holy Spirit, different things that God wants you to do and different decisions will be birthed inside you. *The Bible says the steps of a good man are ordered by God (Psa. 37:23). No good man has a right to choose his own steps by himself. The reason good men become bad men under God is that they begin to choose their steps themselves.*

*PRAYER:* I look unto Jesus the author and finisher of my faith and I embrace your choices for my life.

*AVOID CELEBRITY CHRISTIANITY*
Matthew 20:20-21.

*Celebrity Christianity does not produce destiny champions.* That was what failed the daughter of Saul, Michal, who was also the wife of David. She was a princess that became a queen; those were two forces that were affecting her. When David brought back the Ark of the Covenant with dancing, she ought to have been the one leading chorus there, but she stayed back at home. She separated herself because she wanted to distinguish herself.

While David was dancing before the Lord, she was looking through a window and she said, “Look at the king of Israel messing himself up!” When David came in to bless his family, she said, “Wasn't the king of Israel glorious today that he messed himself up!” And David said, “Oh! You missed it. It was before the Lord.” That was her mistake. People that allow celebrity status to blind them also blind themselves to the finger of God. *If you recognise that God put you where you are, you will no longer see any man but God.*

*Sometimes, the people that God will use to train you at the beginning stages are not going as far as you are ordained to go. But what they are to contribute to your life cannot be overruled.* For example, your primary school teacher might not do any other thing than being a primary school teacher, but if you did not stay under him/her, you would not have become what you are now. *Don't let anybody treat you like a celebrity. Take your share of the road. Take your share of the process and become what God has for you.* There is no place to bypass the process.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I make a commitment intelligently not to fall as a prey to the deception of celebrity Christianity.

*Welcome to November! As 2021 begins to give way to 2022, you must soak your heavens with prayer, so that when you step into the coming year, the heavens are heavy, and you begin to enjoy a great outpouring. This month, I will be sharing sundry topics centred around PRAYING PROFITABLY.*

Prayer is something that almost everybody does, but while most people don’t know whether their prayers have been answered or not, many don’t even care. The truth, however, is that everybody wants answers to prayers. I believe that the Holy Spirit wants me to deal with the subject of prayer this month because prayer is a very common but greatly misunderstood subject.

This month, I will supply understanding on the scriptural purposes of praying in the Spirit to show you why it is so important to speak in tongues. It will also help you, as a child of God, to ascertain that your experience with regards to the subject matter is biblical and aligns with the Bible.

Many people have different positions about speaking in tongues, but it is important to have a biblical position, not a church position on it. The 17th and 18th verses of the last chapter of the Gospel of Mark establish speaking in tongues as one of the signs that identify a believer in Christ Jesus. Speaking in new tongues has to do with praying in languages that one does not learn. This is different from being able to speak different multiple languages as polyglots do (Mark 16:17).

I trust God that at the end of this month, your understanding will be opened for a greater manifestation of your power as a born-again child of God in Jesus name!

*TOPIC: SPEAKING IN TONGUES AS THE EVIDENCE OF HOLY GHOST BAPTISM (1)*
Acts 2:1-15

*Holy Ghost baptism describes the reality and experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit - the third person of the trinity.* In the life of the child of God, the Holy Spirit’s ministry is to raise the quality of His earthly existence to the standard of God by granting him unrestrained access to the resources of God the Father. *The evidence of His presence in a life is marked by the receipt of a new prayer language that is known as speaking in tongues.*

The devil, however, has succeeded over time in causing the children of God to deny themselves access to this great assistant that is also known as the Comforter (John 14:26). By creating controversy around the subject of speaking in tongues, *many Christians have been reduced to doing ordinary religious activities without evidence of God’s power in their lives and ministries because of their denial and ignorance of the Holy Ghost.*

*As a child of God, it is important to always ensure that your spiritual experiences tally with the Bible and not just with your church position. This is because it is possible for your church position not to align with the Bible.* The Bible says, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name, they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;’ (Mk 16:17). The only place in the Bible where you see speaking in tongues in the practical demonstration was in the book of Acts of the Apostles.

Some people believe that at the same moment you get born again, you are automatically baptised in the Holy Ghost. In other words, they think the two experiences happen concurrently. According to the Bible, however, these are two distinct experiences and do not happen together. They can happen on the same day for some people, but they are separate experiences.

*PRAYER:* Father, I thank You for the gift of the Holy Ghost. I receive upon myself again, a dose of refreshing as I pray now in the Holy Ghost.

*SPEAKING IN TONGUES AS THE EVIDENCE OF HOLY GHOST BAPTISM (2)*
Acts 2:1-15, Acts 8:14-21, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:1-2.

*Speaking in tongues is the first and the initial evidence that a person has received a biblical baptism in the Holy Ghost.* If you are not speaking in tongues as a Christian, it means you are not yet biblically baptised in the Holy Ghost. Christianity is not a mental religion, though we apply our minds; it is, first of all, an encounter of the Divine.

*Everywhere the baptism of the Holy Spirit was received in the Bible (check all the passages today), something followed it, and it was speaking in tongues.*

It was the first sign people observed that drew their attention to the disciples that something had happened to them, even though other signs do follow.

In Acts 8, some people in Samaria had been saved and Peter and John prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost. After you get saved as a Christian, the next thing you must do is to receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost. Some people are more concerned with the one that comes first, water baptism or baptism in the Holy Ghost. *As far as the apostles were concerned, it was more important for people to get baptised in the Holy Ghost than to be baptised in water.*

*No matter how many times you claim to have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, if you do not speak in tongues, there is no biblical basis to conclude that you got the baptism of the Holy Spirit.*

Being baptised in the Holy Ghost was so important to the Apostles of old that whenever they finished ministering, they immediately led their converts to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

*TOPIC: ACCESSING THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD IN PRAYER (1)*
1 Corinthians 2:1-13, 1 Corinthians 1:22-25

*God’s methods are still wiser than the wisdom of men. Also, the weakness of God is stronger than the strength of men.* No matter how weak something God chooses looks, it will be stronger than the strength of men.

Just like Paul found himself in the Greek society where seeking after wisdom and knowledge was prevalent, we are living in an age of information and knowledge. Paul was a well-read man and could engage the Greeks in intellectual arguments. However, he deliberately refrained from engaging in intellectual arguments so that their faith will not rest in the eloquence of man. *These days, many preachers have moved away from this practice of Paul and are instead operating at the level of the world by trying to make Christianity acceptable to the culture of the age.* They are leaving the strength of Christianity and reaching the world on the level of oratory, education and intellectualism.

*The Holy Ghost communication to us includes giving us signals and signs – signals and signs that are to help us live better lives.* We must decide to listen to him, follow His signals and not neglect them. Deep things are happening on the earth and God does not want you to be a victim of the deep things of Satan.

*There are three kinds of deep things that will be operating on the earth and which every believer must take note of:*
1. The deep things of God
2. The deep things of satan
3. The deep things of man

*If you are not connected to the deep things of God and the deep things of your life, the deep things of satan will make you a victim. It is praying in the Holy Ghost that brings us into the deep things of God.* Tomorrow, I will be showing you more about the ministry of the Holy Ghost in pressing into these deep things.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I thank You for the ministry of the Holy Ghost. I welcome the Holy Ghost afresh to take me into the deep things of the Father in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC: ACCESSING THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD IN PRAYER (2)*
John 14:16-19

It is instructive to note that the longest stretch of teaching that the Lord Jesus Christ did in His three and a half years of ministry on the earth was on the communion table and the last supper, as contained in the Bible from the book of John 13 to John 18. The heart of the teaching was on the Holy Spirit and His ministry. He told them He was going to leave and they did not like the fact that He was going. *They wanted Him to stay but He said, “It is to your advantage that I go away. If I do not go, He would not come.” That is to say, the Person that is coming is an advantage to the ones that Jesus was leaving behind.*

It is very necessary for us to know the person of the Holy Ghost and master our relationship with Him. *There is no victory or success for the child of God who does not have a thriving relationship with the Holy Spirit.* It is possible to have the Holy Ghost in your life and not give Him the position that He should occupy because you do not know or you are refusing to.

In John 14:17, Jesus said, _“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”_

When Jesus was making these statements, he was dwelling with the disciples physically. But now, he is dwelling in us, and *you must know how to turn the indwelling of the Holy Spirit into an outworking of God in your life.* The Holy Ghost does not want your body to be a prison to him. *Your body must be a vehicle for the Holy Ghost, and the only way to do this in your relationship with Him is by speaking in tongues.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, I join myself to the active ministry of the Holy Spirit in my affairs and all that concerns me. I begin to walk in victories that flow from relating with Him in Jesus name. Amen!

*TOPIC: GIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT ROOM IN YOUR LIFE*
John 14:18-20

*Having the Holy Ghost means you carry the greatest personality on the earth in you.* With this reality, your life is to be different in result from the lives of many Christians that are powerless because of their ignorance of this truth. *The devil becomes powerful only in the lives of Christians that are not allowing the Holy Ghost to move in their lives.*

Read John 14:20. Jesus has come now in the Holy Ghost: “At that day ye shall know…” – the last days believers, of whom we are part, are the ones living in the days Jesus spoke about in this quoted part. When Jesus was speaking here, the disciples were not baptised in the Holy Ghost; they were not even born again, but we now have access to salvation and Holy Ghost baptism. *It is an awesome thought to know and walk in the reality of the truth “that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you” – that is an interwoven linkage with divinity.*

This is the day that you are living in as a believer and so, your life should be a mixture of the manifestation of humanity and divinity. *People that see you should know that though you are a man, there is something in you that is not human. And that comes as you begin to allow the Holy Ghost to express himself in you.*

*The Holy Ghost is God on the earth and God in action now,* and not knowing the Holy Ghost is living in ignorance of what God is doing. *Everyone baptised in the Holy Spirit is carrying a weapon that the devil is fervently working to ensure he does not understand, respect and unleash.* This is so that such a man can deal with the devil normally while he deals with the man spiritually.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I receive sensitivity to yield to the pull of the Holy Spirit and I receive all the help available through speaking in tongues in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC:OBTAINING THE THINGS THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR YOU*
John 16:12-18, 1 Corinthians 2:2-10

*As a Christian, your goal should be to come to a place where speaking in tongues is no longer a religious ritual for you. Speaking in tongues must be as real to you as your phone.* The phone is such a good tool that you carry it around. And just as the phone is a tool in your hand, *you must begin to see your ability to speak in tongues in that light – a vital spiritual tool* that is of much more importance than a mobile phone. Your very existence and success on the earth depends on your relationship with the Holy Spirit and that relationship thrives or shrivels on your ability to speak in tongues.

1 Corinthians 2 verse 9 points out that *God has prepared some things for you that your eyes have not seen nor your ears heard – something beyond the scope of your senses.* Have you ever been in a place where your mobile phone loses signal and you cannot receive or make calls? Your mobile phone is still a tool in your hands but it has gone beyond the range of receiving or making calls.

The five senses of the human body have a range of operation; but ‘the things that God has prepared for you’ are outside of their range. *If you are operating with your five senses alone, you will not be aware of the things God has prepared for you; you will be restricted to your five senses when God has prepared things for you that are beyond the limits of their operation.*

In verse 10, Paul goes on to say, ‘God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit…’ This verse is why the baptism in the Holy Spirit is so critical; it was the reason the apostles wanted the people to be baptised in the Holy Ghost. *How does God reveal the things that He has prepared for us? Is it by going to the Chemistry laboratory? Is it by going to the University? No! It is by His Spirit.*

*PRAYER:* Holy Spirit, please take hold together with me in the place of prayer. I step into my own prepared things from God in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC: THE TWO LEGS OF CHRISTIANITY*
John 1:1

*Christianity stands on two legs:*
1. The word of God,
2. The Holy Spirit

*When a Christian is strong on one leg of Christianity but weak on the other, his experiences will be imbalanced.* If you had to choose, it is better to be strong in the Word but weak in the Spirit. This way, you will be safe. And even though you may not have as much speed in the things of God as you want, you can be sure that you will be preserved.

However, if you are stronger in the spirit but weak in the word, you will go into error because *God gave us the Bible as a guide to show us the limits of safety in our explorations of the spirit realm.* The Bible tells us what is within limits and what is off-limits. So, if you do not know the Word, you may not be able to identify the source of the spirit experiences you are having. Everything in the spirit has its source, either from God or the devil; divine or demonic.

Overall, while it is safer to be stronger in the Word than in the Spirit, it is better to be balanced. *The process that will give you safety is to be sound, first in the Word, then to become strong in the Spirit.*

*PRAYER:* Father, I come to You by Your Word. Let Your Word be my guide against operations of error in the spirit. Amen.

*It is not easy for people that have been exposed to and are already exploring the Spirit at a high level to settle down and be taught the word of God.* Once they can see visions or prophesy the moves of the Spirit, it becomes difficult to hear the teaching of the word of God that straightens out one’s life.

2 Chronicles 20:20 establishes the importance of having a balanced relationship with the two legs of Christianity – the word and the Holy Spirit.

2 Chronicles 20:20, _“…Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”_

*‘Believe in the Lord your God’ talks about your relationship with the Word of God. There is no way you can safely know God except through the Bible. ‘Believe His Prophets’ or ‘believe in His messengers’ speaks of the move of the Holy Ghost.*

*You are to believe, not in the prophets or messengers, but in the Holy Spirit through them, and you shall prosper.* Because of the lack of balance on the two legs of Christianity, you find Christians, who are solid believers, very sound in the word, but not prospering. *The reason is that they are not experiencing the fullness of what Christianity offers. The world needs you to be both. Be solid in terms of Christian faith as you stand on the Word and prosper in impact for Jesus by following His Spirit.*

*TOPIC: GETTING INTO THE SPIRIT REALM*
Mark 16:17-18

The signs described in this scripture – speaking in tongues, casting out devils, laying hands on the sick – form one of the defining experiences of a Pentecostal.

*You are introduced into the Spirit realm by salvation, but you begin your journey when you get baptised in the Holy Ghost.* Just like how passing a qualifying exam to the university does not make you a graduate but introduces you to the process of becoming one. Becoming a graduate will require successfully navigating through the requirements of studentship in a university – going through lectures, passing examinations, paying required fees, etc. If you pass through all these, you then graduate with a certificate.

Mark 16:18 establishes the signs of casting out devils, speaking in tongues, and other signs mentioned as spiritual experiences of the Holy Ghost that comes after a man becomes born again. *If you are going to be functioning at a higher level of Christian demand, then you cannot neglect the Holy Spirit.*

*In modern times, part of the tricks of the devil is to make the things of God look foolish; or to make the serious things of Christianity look mysterious.* But, no, there is nothing mysterious about the Bible; just make up your mind that you are going to become a doer of the word of God after you have accepted Christ as your Lord.

*TOPIC: THE POWER OF A STAMMERING TONGUE (1)*
Isaiah 28:10-11

This scripture is talking of the born-again man and referring to the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues (1 Cor. 14:21).

*One of the main lines of attacks of the devil against Holy Ghost baptism is to make the things of God look foolish and stupid to you.* Once this happens, he will succeed in keeping you away from them because nobody wants to look stupid. *In contrast, he works to make the things of Satan look innocent,* e.g., demonic family cultural traditions, heroic characterization of occult and magic in modern movies, etc.

*Therefore, when you begin to speak in tongues like a stammerer, the devil will come and taunt you,* “… Do you even understand what you are saying…?” or “… Listen to every other person’s tongue sounding fluent, yours is rubbish. It is fake…” But Isa. 28:11 already says, with stammering lips and another tongue you will speak. *Rather than allowing this to deter you, ignore the devil and continue praying in the Holy Spirit.* There is nothing good in the devil, so, do not expect him to commend you for speaking in tongues anyway.

*As inelegant and limited as your speaking in tongues may sound initially, that is the proof of your being baptised in the Holy Ghost.* But then, you will have to develop a prayer language out of the stammering lips. *Turning the stammering lips into a prayer language is your responsibility and not that of the Holy Ghost.* You may restrict yourself to just the stammer for the rest of your life, but the Holy Ghost is full. It is like you having a tank full of water and the tap that brings water into your house is a very tiny tap that releases it in drops. The water tank is filled but depending on the degree of release in the tap, it could just be drops. *Thus, if all you have got is the stammering, you have the real thing. Just keep at it and let it develop.*

*PRAYER:* I reject every deception of the devil to make me abandon praying in tongues. I experience more flows of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

*TOPIC: THE POWER OF A STAMMERING TONGUE (3)*
Daniel 9:20-23

In Daniel 9, Daniel prayed, and an angel was sent from heaven to deliver the answer to his prayers. But some principalities waylaid the angel and it took 21 days after God had answered his prayers before he got that answer. In fact, the angel had to send for reinforcement in the spirit. *Why was he waylaid? It is because the devil was able to hear Daniel’s prayer and he battled to keep Daniel away from that answer.*

*When you pray in tongues, the devil does not hear what you are saying; you talk directly to God the Father and you must take advantage of that. Especially when you pray about your future, do a lot of praying in tongues.* Do not enter any part of your future carelessly. If you are about to marry, graduate from school, start a new job, etc., take some time to pray in tongues. By doing so, you are praying in the codes of heaven. *The devil just knows you are communicating with heaven. It is a protected hotline –* he knows communication is taking place, but he would not know anything and when the answer is coming, he would not have a clue about what is happening.

1 Cor. 2:11, _“For what man knoweth the things of man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God”._

*The spirit of man, after searching the deep things of that man, takes the ability to speak in tongues from the Holy Spirit and begins to express it to God for action.* You’ll find out that you are entering into a future that the devil cannot hinder because he is unaware of what you are praying for.

*TOPIC: EXPRESSING YOUR SPIRIT MAN* – Romans 8:26-28

*Speaking in tongues also serves as a medium for your spirit man to express itself to God*.
1 Cor. 14:14, “… For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth…”

*Allowing your spirit to speak in tongues, to come out boldly, is giving expression to your spirit*. When you worship God, He wants you to worship Him from your spirit. When you dance before God, you can either dance in the flesh or dance in the spirit. The dance in the spirit is what brings blessing. Sometimes, what people do in churches is to dance in the flesh, shaking their bodily parts at praise songs for people to see and admire; that is spreading immorality. But God wants us to get the real thing. As we get real with the Holy Spirit, our spirit expresses itself.

*When your spirit is not feeling satisfied about anything, stop and probe it prayerfully*. Do not be in a hurry when your spirit is unsatisfied, especially when you have the impression that there is still something undealt with. You will be cheating your spirit and forming a bad habit of not obeying the dealings of God in your spirit. The day that some trouble is going to happen, and your spirit tries to warn you, you will not obey it because you started long ago to form the habit of not listening to your spirit; of not allowing your spirit to express itself.

*The strongest Christians are not the most muscular Christians; the strongest Christians are the ones that allow their spirit to express itself*. They are free to just burst out in the spirit, and they can get into any atmosphere and take charge of that atmosphere. Stop the habit of restraining your spirit from expressing itself so that the devil would not cower and dominate you in any atmosphere you find yourself. There are revelations in your spirit that can deal with the next 50 years of your life but which you would not know until you allow your spirit to express it by praying it out. Just let your spirit go when you pray in tongues, and when you begin to pick what your spirit wants to do, obey it and do it.

*TOPIC: EXPRESSING THE DIVINE NATURE*
2 Corinthians 5:17

*God couldn’t do everything He wanted to do for Israel because of two reasons:*
1. They were not born-again.
2. They were not baptised in the Holy Ghost.

*It is impossible for a man to fulfil his original design without those two experiences happening to him and him learning to walk in their reality.*

This is why there are human beings with great capacity and potential in their creation, but because they are not born-again, you see a confusing side of their lives. You see a professor who has reached the peak of his career development, yet goes to do something as appalling as marrying his daughter’s classmate as a second wife. You see presidents of nations that are not different from animals in the way they sleep around with women; multi-millionaire businesswomen that one husband does not satisfy, etc.

*These conflicts of experiences make up the narratives of their unsaved lives.* On one side, you see nobility, and on the other side, you see bestiality; on one side, you see something that looks like God and on the other side, you see something that looks like the devil and *it is because they have not come into agreement with God’s plan.*

*We cannot be man fully until we are saved and baptised in the Holy Ghost. Salvation brings God’s nature into you. Baptism in the Holy Ghost brings you into the experience and expression of the nature of God which doesn’t happen automatically.* Trying to be good without godliness will cause you to end up being capable of atrocities that will make you afraid of yourself.

*PRAYER:* Lord, let the full potential of my destiny be released without compromising my flesh as I rely on Your Spirit. Amen.

*TOPIC: GETTING OUR BODY AND SOUL IN SHAPE*
Romans 12:1-2, Psalm 46:10

Let us look at this matter of getting ourselves in shape for the Holy Spirit. *God speaks in a quiet, small, still voice that sounds loud when the mind is still, and one of the things that helps your mind to become still is when you begin to speak in tongues.* This is because when you do so, the mind stops whatever it is doing to listen to what your spirit is saying.

*Thus, when you begin to speak in tongues, your mind will have to stop. This, however, depends on how well you have trained yourself and how well you have been doing the practice.*

Your own may not be as rapid as that of men of God that share their experiences and say, “As I began to speak in tongues, the word of the Lord came instantly to me.” In your case, it may not happen in an instance like that to you. In fact, sometimes before your mind gets still, it may take you days and you may even have to add fasting to it. *But when it gets still enough, you will experience what God says in the Bible, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psa. 46:10).*

Presenting your body is one of the hardest things you will have to accomplish because your body is the first enemy in the spirit; it has its own interests and desires. *To “present your body” means to present the five senses: eyes, ears, nose, mouth and skin.*

*PRAYER:* Father, I present my whole being afresh to You today. I receive grace to be still and to do daily the things that make me flow better with You.

*TOPIC: STRUCTURING YOUR LIFE FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT*

*From Romans 12:2, we see that the two aspects of your being that you have to present are:*
* The body
* The senses

*You are to present the desires of your body and those of your soul.* Just like the body, the soul has its own interests. *When your soul is not converted, it is the greatest enemy of the spirit.* It is going to join your body to gang up against the spirit to lead you on a path of destruction and pain. You thus need to understand how to subdue the soul.

*The taming of the soul is one of the greatest battles of a Christian. In fact, according to the Bible, spiritual warfare is actually fought in the arena of the soul.* If you lose the battle in your mind, you cannot win it outside. The will of God is in the spirit but if you do not do something with the body and the soul, you are not going to prove it. This is why the Holy Ghost comes into our lives to guide us and to lead us.

*The Holy Spirit is to be our guide; we do not know the way. You do not know what is good for you.* When I was going to choose a life partner, I could have made a different choice but God helped me and I made the right choice choosing Rev. Oyenike Areogun. *TOPIC: YIELDING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT (2)*
Ezekiel 47:1-8

*Let us move on to the knee-deep level.* In the above passage (verses 4-5), there is water everywhere and you must get to that place when you tell your mind that, “There is nothing you can do here or else we are going to get into trouble.” *Something about the devil is that he works through the flesh and then through the mind which is connected to the flesh.* The only difference between the knee level and the ankle level water is that your decisions are not carnal but soulish.

You can craft a vision in your soul; a well-developed soul can reason and put some things down but *a vision is a picture of the completed state and it is only God who can give a vision because He alone knows the completed state of everyone’s life.*

A brother proposed to three sisters and missed it all. In fact, one of them was already on her way to marriage and he insisted God led him. I said, “God did not lead you. You know what led you? I looked at every sister you proposed to, they have the same shape. You have a problem with the hips of women”. I then counselled him to go and learn how to follow the Holy Spirit, “Let your mind rest. Hand over to the Holy Spirit and say, ‘Holy Ghost choose for me’.” I asked him, “What if God gives you a sister with tribal marks?” and he answered, ”The Holy Spirit cannot make mistakes”, so I said to him, “You have already made your own choice.”

*TOPIC: YIELDING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT (3)*
Ezekiel 47:1-8, Romans 7:19, 23-24

*When the waters are at the loins level, that is a place where you can sense the struggle between the spirit and the flesh.* When you get into the spirit realm, you suddenly discover that uncrucified flesh is a terrible enemy to spirituality and there are things that want to feed that uncrucified flesh in our lives.

*Some of us have filled our homes with gadgets that service the uncrucified flesh.* As His child, *God wants you to turn it around and use it to feed your spirit, but you are going to determine which one you are going to feed.* If you feed the spirit, the spirit is going to give you victory over the flesh. If you feed the flesh, it is going to give you victory over the spirit. *If the flesh rules you, the devil is going to come into your life but if the spirit rules you, God is going to take control.*

One of the reasons Paul’s ministry was so great was because he asked after he got born again, “Lord, what will you have me do?” (Acts 9:6). The accuracy birthed by this question made him run with such certainty that he outstripped even those that were pastored directly by Jesus. Talking about them, he said, “I laboured more than they all, put together. I am what I am by the grace of God” (I Cor. 15:10). *The grace of God will draw the circle of your life but your effort, in partnership with the Holy Spirit, is what will fill it. Wrong effort is not going to fill that circle, and it is having the Holy Ghost that keeps one from wrong efforts.*

*PRAYER:* Father, I thank you for the circle Your grace has drawn for my life. I receive the help of the Holy Spirit to fill that circle in Jesus Name.

*TOPIC*: *THE RIVER EXPERIENCE* – Ezekiel 47:5-8

*There is a river that flows, not from the church, but from the throne of God through the Holy Spirit to man’s spirit*. The river brings healing everywhere it goes. That river issues out from your spirit, reaches out, and touches somebody precious to you. Will your body be a vehicle for the Holy Ghost or a prison for the Holy Ghost? *This comes as you enter into fellowship with Him*.

*As a Christian, do not let anyone that needs your relationship with the Holy Spirit be disappointed the day he needs it.*

*There are items of information flowing in that river. There might be people that are close to you that the enemy wants to entrap, and you are the only one who can pick it. Let your spirit be in a sound shape constantly*. Every sportsman knows that it is not on the day of competition that one begins to practise for the competition – it must have been there.

*There are gifts of the spirit – miracles and words – that you pick from that river and carry out, and multi-billion dollars are there for the taking.* But will you follow? Will you enter into the deeper parts? Going with Him is stepping into a life that cannot fail, and it begins with your ability to speak in tongues. The ‘sea’ in verse 8 refers to humanity. The healing of humanity is in the waters of the Holy Ghost. Verse 9 is talking of prosperity, blessings, abundance. Abundance is in that river; your keys to abundance, success and excellence are all flowing in that river.

*Praying in the Spirit helps you in such a way that whenever life throws a question at you and you pray in the Spirit, it is like going to where you have stored the information and retrieving it.*

*God has answers to every of life’s situations, and the answer is in the Holy Spirit.* According to the Bible, “you” have an anointing from the Holy One and you know all things (I John 2:20). *The way to bring the answer is by speaking in tongues.* It is like looking for something and somebody asks, ‘Are you sure?’, and you maintain, ‘Oh I am sure I kept it here; just give me some time. I am going to find it’. And you keep looking and pulling things up until you find it because you are sure you put it there.

*As a Christian, God made you a speaking spirit.* Thus, whenever you face a situation in life that you cannot handle by your experience, then, it is time to go into the place where the answer is. And what do you do? You start speaking in tongues. *Praying in tongue is like dipping a bucket into the well of God for life.*

*Whatever is it you are faced with, once you start speaking in tongues, know that the answer is somewhere.* Even if you do not know how long it is going to take you, keep praying, the answer is going to come up on the surface.

Romans 8:26

The word “helpeth” as used in our text today is made up of a three-word phrase in the original Greek language of the New Testament. It means “take hold with” us against something. *Thus, when something confronts us that we do not know how to handle and we begin to pray in the spirit, we give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to take hold with us against that issue.*

As a child of God, when the situation you are facing is not natural; *when it looks like your situation is a demonic onslaught against you, what you are to do is to begin to pray in the spirit.* The attitude of the Holy Spirit is against that thing you are facing, but he needs an opportunity to get involved.

*Holy Spirit involvement in your matter as a child of God is likened to someone beating the wife of a military officer who then cries out to her husband who is a battalion commander.* As a child of God facing demonic assaults, you are like the wife of this top military commander. When you cry out to him by praying in the Spirit, he arises and mobilises all the resources in his power, not only to help you, but also to teach the enemy an unforgettable lesson on your behalf.

*Whatever your field of expertise, sometimes, you are going to face situations that are products of the deep things of satan. There would be nothing in your natural expertise that can solve such situations except by some directions from the deep things of God.*

*PRAYER:* Take 5 minutes, pray in the spirit, and ask the Holy Spirit to take hold with you on that situation.

*TOPIC: THE RIVER OF LIVING WATER FLOWS OUT OF YOUR BELLY*
John 7:37-39

*When you begin to pray in tongues, it is as if you are channelling the rivers of living water to flow in your direction.* It could be a river of joy, a river of peace, a river of direction, whatever river that you need. In John 7:38, the Bible says, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

What you are doing when you pray in the spirit is that you are channelling and opening doors for the river you need to flow. *The river is like a spring in the Holy Ghost and you are channelling it towards your life.* A child of God must never find himself depressed.

*One of the first things the devil wants to do to you as a child of God is to get you away from speaking in tongues because speaking in tongues is a spiritual exercise that you are doing in the physical.* Praying in the spirit is a spiritual activity that you do with physical parts of your body-your mouth. And you can do that while you are doing every other thing.

*God has so simplified things for us in that because of this, we can carry an atmosphere of the anointing anywhere we are.* No matter how busy wherever you are, whether in the kitchen or in the ward, you can just keep speaking under your breath as this ensures there is an anointed atmosphere around you; you are stirring up something in the spirit and channelling rivers of living waters to flow for you.

*TOPIC: WHEN YOU SPEAK IN TONGUES, YOU EDIFY YOURSELF (1)*
1 Corinthians 14:2-4, Jude 20 (AMPC)

To “edify” means to “build up” or to “raise up”, and this edification is a spiritual edification. *You are building up your spirit and charging yourself like a battery when you speak in tongues.*

There are two ways by which you can run a battery down:
1. Not using it
2. Overusing it without recharging

Many Christians are running on dry battery, battery that is running down and wearing out. Throughout the week, Monday to Friday, you work from morning till night without making time out to pray to refresh your spirit so, you become worn out. And the devil likes that to happen so that when he comes calling, you will not be in shape to fight.

*It’s a dangerous excuse to say you’re too busy to pray because you don’t need to take a break from any physical activity you’re doing to pray in the spirit.* While you are working, you can still be praying in tongues so that your spirit is constantly being charged like the alternator in a car; with the battery being charged constantly even while the car is running.

*As a child of God, God has given you a clue. While you are working through the day, be praying in tongues.* You do not have to speak aloud; you can pray in tongues under your breathe and get the same result in the spirit as if you are praying aloud.

*PRAYER:* Father, I reject every attack of the devil to wear me out, I will stay refreshed, edified, and renewed as I constantly pray in the spirit. Amen

*Sometimes, you don’t feel like doing anything, including praying. You should watch out for such times because they are often dangerous moments. Whenever you feel like this, just pray in tongues.* Being refreshed and renewed is what we all need to think straight and clearly. For a child of God, it is not only sleep that brings refreshing to you.

*Refreshing and renewal of your spirit and soul takes place as you pray in the spirit.* Many Christians are serving God and serving man at the same time, and because of this, they are trying to take physical rest for spiritual labour but this is not going to work.

Several years ago, one of the research institutions in America did a test and they found out that a person that preaches energetically for one hour has done work that is equivalent to 13 hours of hard work. It is spiritual, so your spirit is giving out life, your soul is giving out energy and your body is being used. And if you are going to recover and renew yourself, it cannot be only physical.

*As you speak in tongues, it brings a refreshing and a renewal to your spirit, a turning over of your spirit so that you do not endanger your spirit.* And one of the things that speaking in tongues does is that it affects the condition of your spirit. *It turns over the muscles of your spirit as it were, just like intellectual matter that you read and think on turns over the muscles of your mind.*

*TOPIC: HOLY SPIRIT TEAMS UP WITH YOU TO AMBUSH THE PLANS OF THE DEVIL*– 2 Kings 6:8-17


*The power of the devil lies in secrecy and how well he can conceal something from the person he wants to attack will determine how successful his plans would be but as you pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit teams up with you to ambush the plans of the devil*.

There are tests and trials arranged by the devil and his tests are designed, not for promotion, but for the destruction of any child of God. However, *as you begin to pray in the spirit, the Holy Spirit goes ahead to the place in geography, time, and in the emotions of the people that the enemy has planned to use to set a trap for you, and He takes over that plan*.

An instance of this is seen in the story of Elisha and his servant whom a king sent his soldiers to go and arrest. When they got to where he was, they did not know they were walking into an ambush of the hosts of heaven who were surrounding Elisha. When the eyes of the servant were opened, he saw the mountain surrounded with chariots of horses and fire round about Elisha. The picture is this, the enemy that thought they had surrounded Elisha were the ones being surrounded.

*When we pray this kind of prayer, we set ambush against the plan of the devil so that when the devil thinks you would be entrapped, he finds himself entrapped in the plans and purposes of God*. We must learn to respond by praying in tongues and praying ahead.

*PRAYER:* Holy Spirit, I pray a complete takeover of every plan of the devil over my life, composite, in Jesus’ name.

*TOPIC: YOU DISCHARGE DIVINE BURDENS WHEN YOU PRAY IN THE HOLY GHOST*
Matthew 26:38-39


*Discharging burdens happens when you grow to a place spiritually, where you can team up with deity to accomplish His will on the earth in birthing His counsel, purposes and operations*. *The ability to speak in tongues brings you into that partnership*.

God is looking for the most sensitive person around to introduce His burden; what He is feeling about a particular situation, so that He can team up with that person to counter what the devil is bringing and to establish His own counsel. *Sometimes, you find yourself sad, you are not sorrowful in the sense that something is making you sad, but you feel like weeping – that is a burden and God wants you to release that. When you do that, the will of God is accomplished*. Old Testament prophets like Habakkuk, Nahum, Jonah all walked in this anointing (Hab. 1, Nah. 1, Jon. 1, Eze. 18).

*When you find yourself being sorrowful and very heavy amid celebrations, you should excuse yourself, go somewhere and discharge that burden.* At times, you can think of someone and have that heaviness come upon you, that is how you will recognise someone that the spirit of death has its gun on, and you are the only sensitive one around the person that God could signal.

If God can trust you in the night when He places a burden in your heart for your family, and you begin to discharge that burden, He will trust you with more assignments.

*PRAYER*: Lord, I receive sensitivity and accuracy to carry the burden of the Lord successfully, faithfully, and with a sense of responsibility in Jesus’ name.

*TOPIC: OTHER THINGS THAT HAPPEN WHEN YOU PRAY IN THE HOLY GHOST*

*When you pray in tongues, you are speaking out the mysteries of God in your situation.* When Paul says, “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men,” “men” includes you. *While you may not understand what you are saying, God understands it. Thus, do not try to understand it.* Just begin to speak out the mysteries of God as it pertains to your future, marriage, children and your situations and circumstances.

*Speaking in tongues opens a dam for the rivers of God to flow over your life. If you do not speak in tongues, though there are many rivers, they will not wash over your life or move into your life.* The Holy Ghost has been given and Jesus is already glorified, thus whenever you begin to pray in tongues over any matter, you are giving an opening to the dam of the river of the Holy Ghost. Anytime you speak in tongues, the river is let loose over your life.

*When you speak in tongues, it quickens your heart to the frequency of heaven.* Paul spoke about dealing with dullness of perception or sluggishness in the spirit (2 Cor. 3:12-15). This happens when people are operating at a slower speed than the Holy Spirit is moving. *Praying in the spirit helps to sharpen your spirit to be on the same frequency and page with the Spirit of God. Praying in tongues quickens your spirit. It quickens you to operate at the speed at which heaven is communicating.*

*A good marriage is a product of hard work.* A good brother can become a bad husband and a good sister can become a bad wife if they don’t handle it well. *Marriage adds many blessings to those that work it well.* Before it adds the benefits, it will first reveal who and what you are, and when you know who you are and what you are, then you can start working towards what you are supposed to be.

*Marriage is one of the institutions and experiences of life that men and women enter into with great expectations but very low preparation.* What people don’t do in their businesses and their careers, they do in marriage in terms of the amount of preparation that preceded the marriage. An average person prepares very well before he goes into any career or business, but when it comes to marriage, they just jump into it and do just about anything they like and expect it to turn out right.

The Church has largely failed in this respect because we have not had a different set of results from unbelievers. *So, we have to go back to the Bible to find out what God has said, and you have to make up your mind that you want the Bible experience of marriage.* This is the heart of this month’s devotional and *my prayer is that your marriage will move from good to great and to wonderful!*

*TOPIC: THE CALL TO EXCELLENCE IN MARRIAGE (1)*

*One question people often ask when it comes to marriage is that ‘is there really a perfect marriage?’* I am sure many of you reading this have a similar question in mind.

I have been joining people in marriage for more than three decades. I have had the privilege of conducting the wedding of parents and more recently, their children’s wedding. I have seen some marriages break down after joining them and ended up in divorce, and some other marriages have produced great results.

I believe you can have a great marriage, but I don’t think you can have a perfect marriage. This is simply because there are no perfect people. *You can’t have a perfect marriage, but you can have a victorious marriage, you can have a marriage that is continuously getting better and improving every day.* Don’t assume that when you go into marriage, you are going to have a perfect marriage from the first day; you are going to have an improving marriage.

*God has not called us to perfection but excellence (continuous improvement).* We are not perfect; we grow and improve, so every marriage can grow. *Every marriage can be better.* No matter how bad or hopeless your marriage is; even if you have divorced already, you can still come back together and move on, provided you have not remarried. This gives us hope because *the call of God upon us is to get better, thus, there’s hope for everybody.*

*PRAYER:* Dear Lord, help me to get better as an individual so that my marriage will grow and improve in line with your will in Jesus’ name.

Psalm 11:3, Proverbs 5:18

*Many people rush into marriage without the right level of preparation.* Before getting married, I had six years of courtship and it wasn’t because I was afraid, it was because I wanted to prepare the ground very well so that I won’t have any trouble. One of the testimonies we have had in our marriage is that we have never had a third party get involved in our marriage. We have solved every challenge of marriage that we have had. Now, we can teach married couples and minister grace to them to be overcomers.

*My teaching on marriage does not start from the stories that people paint; my teaching on marriage is always based on the principles of marriage because I believe that principles give birth to excellence; practices without principles lead to mediocrity.* Therefore, if you have a mediocre marriage, it is because you are practising marriage without a grasp of correct principles for that marriage.

A mediocre marriage does not necessarily mean the couple is fighting. You can have a quiet marriage that is joyless. In fact, many Christian marriages are like that; they don’t fight or shout, but they are dead as far as joy is concerned. That brother or lady that was full of life and bubbling is dead; If you look into their eyes, there is no joy of marriage, they are just coasting along, and God does not want you to have that. He wants you to have a marriage that is full of joy, that you are excited at each other and excited at your marriage.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I make a decision today to consistently apply the right principles for a victorious and joyful marriage in Jesus’ name.

*TOPIC: DECEPTIVE PAINKILLER IN MARRIAGE*
Amos 3:3

*There is one error that people bring into their marriage, especially older folks; they say, “Time heals wounds.”* That is not correct; time numbs the pain, but it doesn’t heal the wound. Doctors will tell you that painkillers destroy the practice of medicine because they deceive people about the problem. Doctors need the pain to diagnose correctly and to properly administer a cure. If you go to the hospital and you have been taking painkillers, they may not be able to diagnose your problem.

*Time is a deceptive painkiller in marriage, particularly Christian marriages.* You must identify anything that wants to numb the pain. *Your status, role, position, and things like that can numb the pain but won’t solve the problem.*

If a pastor and his wife are beating each other and people come and say, “You are pastors, don’t let people see you fight,” that does not stop why they are fighting, but it can numb the pain. Thus, they endure it, but they still feel like beating each other. What makes them feel like beating each other is not solved, but their status is numbing the pain.

*If you are already on painkillers, I want you to stop, let the problems be solved.* Time doesn’t heal the wound; it only numbs the pain. *One of the reasons my marriage to my wife has been such a great journey and experience is because we were loaded with divine immunization against marital problems.* So, we had minimal challenges, and it was easy for us to overcome them and get into enjoyment.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I bring my marriage before you today for complete and total healing in any area of challenge in Jesus’ name.

*TOPIC: DON’T LOOK FOR AN ALTERNATIVE TO YOUR SPOUSE*
Genesis 2:18-25

When there is a challenge or a conflict in marriage, people always look for an alternative to their partner without separating. Most of the time, a man finds this alternative in his work, he just goes out and doesn’t come back on time, he becomes a workaholic.

In the first chapter of the book of Genesis, God mentioned things that must not replace your wife. The garden and the animals were not to be a replacement for Eve. God said it is not good for a man to be alone, He checked everything that He created before He made that statement. At that time, each of those things that were already present was a potential replacement and when a man is frustrated at home, he tends to go back to them.

Women also look for alternatives. Because the woman does not have as many broad things to do like the man, she simply goes into a shell and then begins to pile up memories, and you know the mind of a woman works like a machine, they hardly forget things.

The truth of the matter in marriage is this – if you won’t marry you are not sinning, but once you consent to marry, it is wedlock and there is no exit.

You must still ‘do’ even 50 years into marriage and I pray that will be your testimony in Jesus’ name. Remember the story of the mad man of Gadarenes, he wanted to follow Jesus after he was delivered but Jesus told him to go back home (Mark 5:1-20); every man must receive that same mandate to go back home, don’t run away from home, go back home!

*PRAYER:* Lord, I pray that my marriage will be heaven on earth in Jesus’ name.
