my interview day finally came and I remembered something I had not done.

My monthly biometrics!

Our monthly biometrics here in Lagos usually holds between the 1st and 7th of every month. Today was the 7th and my only window to secure my 19,800 by month end. I was sure as hell that I won't miss that money or this interview undecided. So I came up with a plan for the day when I woke up. I planned to go for the biometrics at the LGA fez while carrying my interview clothing in my bag. So that when I finish from the LGA, I'll switch clothing and find my way to Lekki phase one sharpenly.

And that was what I did. I finished up with my biometrics at about 11:36am and I went to Oshodi bus stop and boarded a bus headed to Ajah. I had already changed up in a rest room back at the LGA, so I was good to go. I actually felt I was going too early for the interview but when I opened up my google maps and saw the traffic ahead, I started praying I reach my destination before it's too late for the interview.

Lagos traffic isn't tired dealing with me ni cry

I got to my bus stop and found my way to the street at about 1:23pm. And I was faced with another issue. Locating the right address due to the pattern of street numbering.

You know those streets with 'Plot A unit Q' type of numberings, well this was one of them. I saw three different houses with the same address and I knocked on the three of them. The gatemen who answered me, gave me the same answer for each of the houses. That such firm doesn't exist in their building. One even said such firm doesn't exist on that Street. And I didn't even have airtime in my phone to call the number on the email they sent me. I looked at my watch and it was 12 minutes away from 2pm, my interview scheduled time. The sun wasn't helping at all. Everywhere was so hot and me that was on black shirt and walking around looking for a place I couldn't find was seeing double.
I remember thinking what if this was a prank invite angry

Or GNLD. Or even a Yahoo something

GNLD for pain me pass sha. Those people have dealt with a lot of poor job seekers with scam invites.

I was ready to give up and go home when my phone rang and it was a representative of the firm calling. I no even gree the person talk and I stated my difficulties locating their office. Someone was immediately sent to get me.

Guess what?!

I was standing a few blocks away from the building and it was the same building that the gate man swore on the old and new gods that no such firm existed inside or on the street.

The look on his face when I passed him at the gate shocked grin

I actually wanted to rant on him for making me wander the street and almost gave up. I decided not to, incase the interview works and I get to see him everyday I come to work.

That would've been awkward grin

Lemme give y'all a little insight about this firm. They are a music streaming platform with their Headquarters in Calgary, Canada. They're basically into what Spotify does but offer much more services. Like their Nigerian office is focused on the African music audience, but with priority given to Nigeria.....bla bla bla. I'm sure some of y'all have already guessed the firm.

Inside the firm, there was a candidate who being interviewed at the moment so I had to wait for my turn at the reception. It wasn't long before I was called in for my turn.
Unlike the last two interviews I had been to, this one went very smoothly for me and I was very relaxed while at it. The interviewer was a lady (for the first time I'm having one lol) and she was impressed by my conduct and answers. We discussed on couple of topics concerning the job and at the end, she promised to reach out to whoever gets the job and even those who don't get it. She stated the successful candidate will have to undergo a 2 weeks (Mon-Wed-Fri each week) pre-probation with the firm so she can see if the person is just all talk and no action. If the candidate eventually passes the test, he or she will then receive an appointment letter from them. I kinda liked the idea even though I wasn't sure of the spot lol.
We also discussed salary and the offer on the table was actually more than I've been offered before. There was also an option to increase six months into the job.
We finished and I went home with hopes of getting the job. On my way home, I experienced a bit of traffic and then I wondered (if I get the job) how I'll cope.

I got home feeling very tired and with a banging headache. I just freshened up, had dinner and slept the day's stress off. I woke up the next day feeling better and realised I haven't been to my PPA throughout the week. It was a Friday and I had two options: go to work and spend a half day or stay back.

I needed more rest even with the long sleep I had last night. It's been a crazy hectic week for me; two job interviews and a three (two) day training participation. All in a space of four days!

PPA can wait, lemme rest jare

That was how I spent the whole day at home watching my game of thrones series rewind. I consciously stayed away from the internet because the next day was the gubernatorial elections and I wasn't ready to be reminded of what I experienced two weeks ago in the presidential one. Later in the evening, I gave into the temptation and went online to watch small YouTube videos. Turning on my mobile data, this popped up.

Access Bank

I honestly forgot I applied for such opening so when I saw the email, I was wondering if it was real or some scam. I went to the telegram group and confirmed it's authenticity. Good thing, many others there got same invite and it was confirmed to be legit.

I was trying to rest and forget any worries this weekend but here we are lol.
The online test was ending in a few days so that gave me a rather short period to prepare for whatever I'm about to face. I started preparing that evening by googling about the test and the whole recruitment process. I found a thread about this same access bank recruitment on Nairaland. The thread has been active since 2014.

One of the good things I love about NL cool

At the end of my research, I found out that the online test is merely a pass/fail stage. It's called 'Emotional Quotient' test, made to gauge how you'll react to certain situations. Since the test wasn't going to be a big deal, I decided to take it the next day, the elections day.

About that elections sef

I spoke to my former team guys and they were all returning to the job, even after what we went through. Well, I wasn't going to risk my life for an already orchestrated exercise. I told them my stand and I wished them well. Case closed.

So the next day, I did the online EQ test. It went quite well that I even barely used 20% of the time they gave for the test.

Proud child grin

I was now looking forward to two things and I felt really good for the first time this long week. At least, all of the disappointments were rewarded somehow with my expectations. Even though I don't know what they hold for me, I was still in high spirits.

Later that evening, I received a phone call from the firm in Lekki about being the one who scaled through successfully. I was asked to resumed the next Monday for my two weeks trial.

To say I was excited at this moment is a gross understatement. Let's just say my weekend went well smiley

So this isnt part of the thread but I just had to say this. Alot of people really read this sturvs lol. After I mentioned my cv guy's contact here, he told me 20+ folks reached out to him in three days for a job on either their LinkedIn setup, cv or cover letter. I didnt believe until he sent me a screenshot of his conversation screen on WhatsApp

I really wasnt expecting that tho. Well thank you on behalf of him.

I forced him to join nairaland for the culture grin. His username is Thecvbank. I attached his WhatsApp contact for anyone interested. I'm doing this to cut the amounts of email requests I get concerning joining the telegram group/getting the cv guy's contact. He does both, so just send him a message

The next update may come in a bit late cos of plenty engagements I have. Plus so many things to sit and write about lol. But dont despair amigos, better late than never grin

Bro, Nonye6194 and other corp members on this thread pls I have some questions to ask.

Am currently working towards my reposting to a new LGA because of my health condition.
Should I seek for a good ppa from the new LGA and obtain a request letter then take it to Nysc secretariat for processing?

Secondly, I have undergone documentation at my present lga already. Hope it won't cause problems for me?

with a genuine medical report, you can be reposted or redeployed anywhere.

a good ppa in re-posting? the chances are very minimal tbh.

advice: find a ppa of your choice and get a request letter from them before going to the secretariat. it makes everything easier for you and nysc

lol kind of. But for those who decide to take an extra effort. not all of us here are getting same opportunities and I'm not saying this to bash anyone. Any regular corper would want to collect discharge certificate fez before even having a curriculum vitae. I just decided not to but it's not easy combining all of these tbh.

But the perks is not just in Lagos, my best mate got similar thing going for him in the south south where he's serving. I'll come to that in my upcoming posts, hopefully

True, it requires extra effort but before you see 1 job ad from another state you would have seen 5 from Lagos.

When you say south south are you by any means referring to PH?

Oga nonye6194 thank you for the accolades chief. and thank you for bringing me to nairaland lol.

And to those reading all the job invites and interviews he's been going to, thinking its fake. it isnt.
Aside the fact the op is smart and very intelligent, he has an excellent work history and he's fond of engaging himself in projects, conferences and volunteer jobs which makes him well sought for.
He has one of the most impressive CVs I've prepared and I'm glad he's been to 10+ interviews and tests, partly due to his resumé. I didnt know how good a writer he was until I read this thread, excellent narrative. he makes you feel like you're part of his journey with the words and images.

I've gotten quite a lot of requests for CV, cover letter and LinkedIn account setup due to nonye6194 referral. We charge 3000 for cv, 1500 for cover letter. for both cv and cover letter writing, we charge 4000 and create a professional LinkedIn account as bonus for you. our WhatsApp line is always open, same as our social media pages. just click on our profile or signature below to contact us. below is an invite a client who we fixed up a new cv, cover letter and LinkedIn account for got. her interview is today and we decided to share it here. The reason of sharing is to tell you that it's not only this proud child nonye6194 can get invites grin.

we'll love you to go through a thread of testimonies from our former clients. This would convince you why we are the best at what we do and why we should write a professional résumé for you just as we did for nonye6194:

Thanks to the OP who advertised your services here, I can say this is one of the best threads I've seen on Nairaland and it is one of the few ones that keep pulling me back to the site which is being overrun by ethnic bigots and inane posts.

Let me just get my PGD project out of the way and I'll contact you for CV, cover letter and LinkedIn setup.
