Truth be told: Mobile banking, like you have in the M-Pesa is the way to go at least simple daily transactions.
Nigerian banks resisted the change as a plague but you can't blame them: after building the huge banking infrastructures across the country then MTN and Co will now partake in a big slice of their money.
Nigerians are the loosers in all these: I give you an instance!
Last month I received my very first payment from PAGA( a fintech company) from one of my customers; rather than close her shop to go deposit the money at the bank, she just went to the PAGA kiosk next door and the paga operator, collected her cash and of course a small commission( which my customer would have spent on Okada, talk less of the time and stress) and instantly I recieved the alert
Such transactions are easier with fintech/mobile solutions due to they can be as close as the nearest recharge card retailer next door; you receive and send cash instantly 24/7 without recourse to banks, ATMs,Internet banking or mobile apps......the huge difference now is that you can actually send the cash you have in your leather wallet to a stranded loved one(who can recieve it without recourse to ATMs or visiting banks both in real time!!!
This certainly will certainly capture a huge chunks of bank deposits which Nigerian banks are not yet willing to part with |

faaz24: 1. If Buhari prosecutes an Igbo man for corruption, Igbo people will say he's doing ethnic cleansing.
2. If he prosecutes a fellow Fulani man, they will say it's because the criminal is a PDP member.
3. If he prosecutes a fellow APC member, they will say it's because the criminal is giving Buhari a tough time within the party & they're trying to frustrate the accused out of the party.
4. If he prosecutes someone that doesn't belong to any political party, they will say it's because the criminal is an anti-government critic.
They're yet to say whether the person being prosecuted is guilty of the said crime or not. We're simply comedians! I already said it. Buhari's anti-corruption fight won't be possible inasmuch as we keep politicizing and ethnicizing the whole thing. To discover that the same set of people that want corruption stamped out are the same ones saying all these things breaks one's heart.
When GEJ was president, why didn't he also prosecute all the thieves in the opposition? He was trying to be Mr. Nice? Mr. Nice that landed us in what we are in right now?
Get me right. I want Aregbesola's account frozen like Fayose's. But if I'm to distribute gifts to a group of people whose names are on a list, does it matter whether I start from the top, bottom, or middle? The most important thing is that the name of anybody that gets the gift is on the list, isn't it? Ok. What if the gift finishes before it reaches some people?
Well, in this case, it's not exactly the same. Buhari's gift is enough to go round everybody. So no matter where he starts from on the list, nobody will miss out on the gift. And nobody can dictate to him where he should start from. He made the list, not you or me. He that makes the list reserves the right to start anywhere he wishes. Instead of wasting our energy arguing on where he's starting from, we should ask whether someone who doesn't deserve a gift has gotten one. If that hasn't happened, then what has the noise been all about? You spoke very well and I agree with what you said cos I am guilty of always criticising the people buhari's EFCC are picking out for fraud. The issue wailers have with Mr President is on issues of nepotism in appointments(see appointments in kitchen cabinet), vengefulness in victory (5% remark)favouritism in policy(grazing reserves and silence over Fulani herdsmen carnages) not mentioning the killing of scores of armless IPOB protesters without option of dialogue; flouting court orders, elongated detention of alleged looters.....and what is worst is the appointment of persons with large corruption cases like Fashola, Amaechi into his cabinet You can do all these things and expect people not to sneer at your efforts at going after looters |

raumdeuter: People dont spill over in Secondary school. Every student who enters SS3 or Form 5 is entitled to take WAEC or WASC and they all get their certificate
Below is what Buhari classmates said
Coomassie said: “While we were in school, Buhari was the head boy. He loves playing football. We were all close friends in school. After we finished secondary school, General Buhari decided to join the military, I joined the police and Justice Abdullahi decided to go to the university.”
“I, the late Shehu Yar’Adua, the late Halilu, a Grand Khadi in Katsina, Senator Abdul Ali, a Senator in the 2nd Republic and several other attended the same school”
On his part, Justice Abdullahi described Buhari as a brilliant student when they were in school, saying he was Buhari’s classmate from primary to secondary school, saying:
“I, Buhari and some others had the best results during our final examinations in secondary school back then. He was a very brilliant student in school, no doubt; we attended the same school from primary to secondary school.” A certificate is worth a thousand words |

Give people constant power supply and watch Nigeria transform herself in just 5-7 years. Power is a factor but you have to deal with importation as it is! Power will take as long as 5-7 years to get fixed that is with a serious government. The only way to encourage local production and making their prices competitive is buying devaluation. @ cornelin How will government encourage the local manufacturers if importation is still cheaper than local production owing to availability of cheap forex? |

Guy, it's people like you, that are leading Nigeria and Buhari to hell. What's this fixation with low exchange rates? Is it so that you can buy iPhone for N10000? Until importation is discouraged by devaluation, no fixed rate of dollar will stand over time... Politics › Re: 13 States To Produce Rice For Consumption+ Devaluation has failed – Buhari by 49cents(m): 10:29pm On Jun 27, 2016 |
The Naira was over-valued since oil became Nigeria's main stay and that discouraged diversification and industrialisation whilw promoting importation of everything due to cheap petrodollars
As it stands now, the smartest thing to reverse that trend is to further mark up the dollar to N400 and give tax paillaitives to companies, social buffers to Nigerians in terms of mass transport, housing schemes, food availability and quality education etc
In about 6 years Nigeria will find its self in a superb state |

wirinet: Sorry my Brother, it does not exactly work that way in practice, it is only in theory that Sovereignty belongs to the people. In practice Sovereignty is "surrendered" to the state or a king in the case of a monarchy. If everyone was free to agitate for self determination, the US would not have fought a civil war to keep the country one, Texas would have opted out of the United state (especially after a black man won the presidency), Scotland would not have fought 2 independence wars and wait 307 years before allowing them to have referendum. Times have changed bro! This is the 21st century and nations like UK and USA that fought civil wars won't do so now as seen in Brexit and a likely scotexit from UK In Nigeria's case there is nothing like anyone surrendering sovereignty in the first place. Nigeria's Unity is negotiable, it isn't a taboo a discourse; the socio-economic well being of the people living in Nigeria must come first before its Unity which so far has been an ill wind that blows only the elite good |
