Err what cmd is dt? Lol. What a mess. Am absolutely laughing at myself.

Then can some1 pls post d script or shld i say cmd for using ./configure make sudo make install.
Av got some .tar.gz files n after extracting and doing cd to the directorv all my attempts at makin d file av been futile. Usual error are make file not found, directory not existing etc.

Just assume d path is to desktop 4 say open vpn2.1 and post d cmds i can just copy and paste in terminal.

Again i found a deb of vlc player n downlded it, i tried 2 install and it installed with no dependency issues, its right there now under synaptic as an installed package wit shortcut in sound / video, but it wont launch. Av done oda installs like wget frontend succesfully and they work but dis vlc wont respond at all. Wat gives.

how come the .jar programs icons have not changed into the java icon, that i tink would be the clearest indicator that the java is active now.

i think i get your drift a little, to create shortcuts to those java applications somewhere abi? but those apps are not registered with java yet!

@lynx, i went into ur profile n saw ur post, d thing is d oda jdk was meant 2 come wit ubuntu abi? But when i right click i dont see such options. Dt means java aint installed abi? Bt av done dt terminal thing again and d thing was telling me dt it wants 2 replace bla bla bla, lyk it was there already! Well i did d install allover again bt no way. Hmmn, in windows dis would be no registry entry. Wat is d equivalent of ctrl panel in ubuntu? And is documents where d thing shld have installed? In short hw 2 confirm java?

ok so am awake at 3am trying to do stuff. i did move the java .bin file into the terminal and it did some schtick and then told me to say yes, did some more and then said done. so am assuming i have the java installed.

i did put the ubuntu on the bad hard drive and wonders of all wonders u wuldnt knw dt the drive was bad. as in am still looking to see if am dreaming. with windows the stuff will boot in lyk 10 mins and try open a folder and u go grow old, with ubuntu, well e be like normal o. just wondering hw the thing for super fast if the drive good. too bad i cant remove the ram and put in mt lapie.

then the koko, pls lynxnoon or any1 pls tell me how to run yf and the vpn. the site just says unzip into a folder. the . jar file tries to open with archive mgr. i cant just seem to figure it out. pls rembr i no sabi book o so pls make the explanation simple.

Thanx, will try. Guess same will apply 4 my openvpn which is a .tar extension? I restarted n d fone started workin back. Strange, thot dt only happens in windows. Will give feedback 2mrw.

Ps. wat do u tink abt my tryin 2 put ubuntu on a old harddrive wit table errors? Usually i run live cds on dt pc, but i found dt mountin and accessin d drive works quite fine thru ubuntu, whilst tryin in windows is a unique form of torture. Maybe d ext3 filesystem will work on dt drive? Abi? Or am jst silly?

Brovar don vex 4 nland admins comot. Sori 2 bring dis up again bt i wasnt d brightest in my computer classes. Am very cheap( naija boy 2 lyk awuf) so i use dt popular app on windows 2 do fbt. (Not my fault country hard, gsm greedy) bt im movin frm windows 2 ubuntu. So i nid my app on linux 2. Bt problem is how 2 connect. So i use windows, go 2 d neccesary site, downld d linux version of d app, plus d linux jre thru windows. They come as a .bin extension. Now dey sittin on my harddrive bt i dnt knw hw 2 install dem. Archive mgr wont open dem, i just dunno wat 2 do. Notin lyk run or make executable 2 in d properties. So pls i need help o! Dis is d last thing tying me 2 windows.

Yup though dt aint flashin but might jst work. D principle is realy d same. U hav 2 b connected 2 d net, d seus app updates itself den progresses, u choose d fone model, remove d fone batt n sim, replace jst batt, make sure its charged o!, den hold d c button n plug d fone usb cable. D app reads it n might tell u u hav d latest, ignore it n continue wit update. Wen thru, chill a min, remove batt, insert sim n put on. If dt helps lucky u, if it doesnt u nid 2 flash. Tell u wat, start by tryin 2 locate d firmware online n dwnld. Dts d most dificult part. Rmb it is in 2 parts, main n filesystem. Get both. Check dose sites or just google. Same version of both o!

which 1 is time interval? bros, u need the following, either se tools, xs++, or jd flasher. make sure u get the latest version, then u need the firmware for the fone, the main firmware and the fs. u can find out the right one for ur fone if u hook up the flashing app and read ur fone. u will see the cid number and the exact version. google will be ur best friend. i hope u have a decent network connection. the flashfiles will be around 35-40 mb, the apps like 20. recommend xs++.
wen u get them, contact me on this thread for a tutorial on how to execute. but then u can also find it out thru google, u just need to knw hw to search with sense.

Abeg make una yarn me naw. i flashed my k800 filesystem wit a newer fs file. now d screen n keypad no dey go off. wetin i go do o? helep o! tinkin of flashin d main wit d newer firmware of same gen wit d fs. bt i cant find it or rather d 1 av seen is on rapidshare n u knw hw dt is. den if e no work nko? cos e no supose get dis issue in d 1st place. or wat else can i do

awww, eeeyaahhh! sori ko! i used that lite and i just finished it yestrday and i worked fine except wen network no dey. pele! but na so u sef dey use yello buga. me don get 3g fone yet yello no dey try for my place. na lyk 14-16 KBPS max so the hype no reach my side

@ stan, the fone is a Sony Ericcson K800i so no way for it. i did a system restore and am ok naw. but i tried it on a samsung and same stuff. it did not work!!! tseew for the thingy sha. thanx, maybe wen i hammer lyk u buy 3g nokia i will implement it

really pls someone explain this thing properly. there was one chap swearing by everything in sight that u culd up the port speed of a fone. my k800 4 some strange reason connects on 115 kbps. and its a 3g fone o! but my oda fones are 460kbps which was y i was interested. is dis true, thigh i feel is highly unlikely and if so hw can 1 do that. the how to the guy posted din not work. infact how can u possibly improve the hardware capability without changing the hardware??

some not all o, some, use games in the .nes format. googlefor them. u knw naw dose games that used to run on those oooooollllllld tv games wey dey get mario bros etc. they install on some china fones just llok at the games if any on the fone and see their extension n u will be able to get apps of that extension on them

hey lynx i did lyk 2.5 mb speedtest; like 2 d ays ago on yello. was surprised but then i doubt this tests anyway, its for a point in time aint it so the very ext sec u culd be very slow. anyway dis thing has not bin working at all today or is it just my area?

? just in case someone was referring to me i do not understand u o, or u dont me. i have tar balls sitting on my desktop containing source codes and id like to knw hw i can make rpms or debs or wateva from them. sha get them installed, i knw synaptic is there but 1 am not sure i knw hw to locate a repo 4 dis ones and simply out of curiosity id like to knw hw. this synaptic idea makes u lazy

i use xp and i did check the modem i was adding it to, problem is i do use the same fone for oda networks too! so is it that i will use the stuff with the exclamation marks, commas etc as it is?,

hi @ all, can some1 pls help me with a simplified howto on hw to install from source? iv got some softwares that i culd only get the source codes for them cos i had to dwnld on a winblows machine and now i want to install them in my ubuntu, thatll be gnome thank u, so make una biko, they are in a folder on the pc

@ stancozy, see wetin u don cause naw, i was trying ur code on my pc and it didnt work and was telling me hardware failure in the modem. now to use my hardware in the old way na palava o, the thing has just been refusing my ministrations. maybe u shld look at that post again and post EXACTLY wat shld be put in so i can copy and paste. right now master reset of my fone and format of the lapie are not options

how did u add the backgrounds, av bin usin this thing for 2 mths and neva stumbled on that

yeah u right thanks forthe help, u needed to have seen me googling feverishly. i justb reinstalled the os and the apps were all good and working well on other pc. actually wat happened was i was changing language options and i had to restart only torestart and see the whole problem. well tyhankfully i solved it by doing system restore, lucky forme apparently the system did a system point aitself after install, how come and why i dont knw av neva seen dt before. i restored and voila it was ok and the apps all installed.

that will work only on mtn and not zain. infact at times the mtn sef requires u to authenticate the ppp thru pc suite.

for those that are lucky to own a se like k800i, u can also do that by using the ethernet emulator for usb that comes with the fone. in fact that wat am using naw as my pc suite just kolo no dey see my fone again. just go into ur fone settings and where the bluetooth, network profiles e.t.c are just look 4 usb internet, select a profile for it, whenever u connect ur fone to the pc it automatically connects ur fone to the network at 10mbps, dts equvalent to openvpn

hey pls help me o, i just installed win xp on a laptop of mine, i installed some programs on it and it was fine. after a reboot, i tried to install other files and it refused to install. it was telling me nsis error, error launching installer. i found that if i tried installing from a cd it would work well, but if i copied them onto the hard drive and tried to install it would give me this error. pls wat is going on o
