sorry 4 my ignorant question, but what do u guys want BT4 for? u guys into top level linux IT? or just 4 aircrack? cos u could just compile that on a distro and be alrite ![]() anyways na wah o, make u na carry we muguns along o |
Avira Antivirus free edition |
dude, remove the norton with the norton removal tool, google it then get urself another antivirus, norton is a resource hog, it slows down ur pc. NB pls dont use kaspersky, for the simple reason that from the way u sound, your Pc is not really powerful, some of the new antivirus require like 256 mb ram to themselves only, add that to at least 512mb for the system, then other software, if u dont have 2 Gb Ram with a decent processor your Pc gonna be slow |
@ Muyi, thanks i saw ur post, but i THINK u missed the key word= FREE ![]() looking at those stuff but ii believe most of them sre useless. either limited to 6 workstations, or not debian based ( can be difficult to convert) some not even cafe ware, imagine listing Kmeleon as a cafe program its a firefox hack of a browser!!will check them out indepth and see how far? thanks |
funny though, not everyone is differnt from their personas, in real life some really cant give a shyte either way, some cant help it, but i guess u gotta watch out for the girls and romance section men girls, well most even dont even know who they are in real life romance section men, well it speaks for itself, res ipsa loquitor, i mean really, a nigerian male who spends all his time in romance section?? puhlease scary thing is imagine some folks actually being their nl avatar in real life, all those obnoxious characters? Jeez have mercy |
but i remember back in the days mtn especially used to have this voice response recharge thing, i think 181, not too sure sha for that u follw the voice prompts and enter the pin no, is that not working again? cos that shld solve the recharge ish, |
u will then have to network all the clients to a linux server setup to administer everything with the ability to disable network connections to any of the hosts after a specified time period. the server shld also be able to do things like remotely shutdown clients (especially nice to frustrate yahoo boys the highlighted really encapsulates the essence of my idea. forget the rest abt vm or no vm, thats just for convenience, i really dont care if u use the vm or u use the host, my beef is the remote admin thingy!! is that gonna be possible, extent and limitations. the vm exists so most folks who turn to water at the sight of anything other than windows can still use the cafe with minimal risk to the owner/equipment the vm thing just brought the thot back, the admin is gonna have to be on the host and there is no timer ware for linux as far as i know |
stanzycool, i no sabi for yim thing o i don try add u tire |
this will be the content of ur privoxy config file found in /etc/privoxy/config. u can just copy and replace whats inside i now with this one. # Generally, this file goes in /etc/privoxy/config # # Tor listens as a SOCKS4a proxy here: forward-socks4a / 127.0.0.1:9050 . confdir /etc/privoxy logdir /var/log/privoxy # actionsfile standard # Internal purpose, recommended actionsfile default.action # Main actions file actionsfile user.action # User customizations filterfile default.filter # Don't log interesting things, only startup messages, warnings and errors logfile logfile #jarfile jarfile #debug 0 # show each GET/POST/CONNECT request debug 4096 # Startup banner and warnings debug 8192 # Errors - *we highly recommended enabling this* user-manual /usr/share/doc/privoxy/user-manual listen-address 127.0.0.1:8118 toggle 1 enable-remote-toggle 0 enable-edit-actions 0 enable-remote-http-toggle 0 buffer-limit 4096 |

meanwhile where all my chairmen? iv a project im seriously considering. am talking about that our old linux cafe parol way i see it, i had to chill then cos the only cafe billing ware i found was rpm based, and it didnt behave using alien now i think that why not use VM and xp inside ubuntu? cos well u only need have a snapshot of ur install, whatever happens go back to the snapshot. no ish no hassles, no traces, yahoo boiz will probably love u too ![]() but the issue is remote control from a central location, cos the billing thing is still there, but im guessing if there was a way u could limit access to terminals remotely, and maybe time the access, then u can forgo that billing software ish. this may mean not just cafe application but even office and other uses, ur staff or users dont have to learn linux, they dont even need to know u running linux, the advantages for u are phenomenal, little risks, reduced costs, longer lasting hardware, etc etc i want input pls, ideas etc |
well, @ doubleN we can onlt know if we try it. i do know for a fact that there has been major improvments in all this dial up parol. i remember 9.04, it was an absolute nightmare connecting my fone, i spent hours here trying to figure it out. same with modem, but in 9.10 it worked flawlessly. in this 10.04, am pretty sure it should be far more ok. but then if u can stand all that green, mint is due out next week ![]() @ V3, to get ur codecs open a terminal window, type the following: sudo apt-get update it will ask for password, type it, it wont show while typing. then "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras" whenever it asks for authentication type y and press enter. |
bros what are u on about? ubuntu dials any modem, as long as its not from mars. use the network manager see the picture, thats where the network manager is. infact the first time u plugged in the modem it should have started a wizard na na for ubuntu u go dial up, no be inside the VM
|
i took this thing to a pals pc, it was flagged by kaspersky!!! windows palava ehn |
A v3 u dont do the internet connection in the VM, u do it in ubuntu. the VM uses the ubuntu internet connection. if its the ubuntu one thats staring at u, left click on the network manager icon, u will then see create a new mobile broadband connection. their are preset setting there, as far as i know only the mtn one is fully corect, the others you have to edit the apn etc. the VM uses ubuntu network connection via NAT, not that u connect in the VM? once u dial up in ubuntu, u can then use ur network programs in the VM. the VM wont use ubuntu Proxy settings o!!! neither will it use the tor or other stuff running in ubuntu, u have to install the windows version in the windows VM kapisch? |
semid4lyfe: ![]() cant u see am suffering from "cant wait" syndrome? abi how many men can wait for their wife on wedding nite? u for don dey rush from the door of the honeymoon suite na. ![]() joks apart am beginning to tire for all the tory, want it to end now now, so i can look tp other things ![]() |
pls where and when is ep 22 |
@ muyi thanks. actually it wasnt for me, i was asking on behalf of V3, and it seems i was right. personally the only windows os i touch or put on my hardware is xp. i only did that vm xp in order to be able to do some quirky windows only things and also use windows only fbt. so V3. my position still remains, if u want ur games, i think it better to dual boot. thats very easy to do. else just do a wubi install of ubuntu. |
wats going on now? |
hehehehe. muyi not bad, u just confirmed sumtin for my pal v3 ![]() fellow is so in love with win7 that he was practically hungry for details on whether win7 would run in VM ![]() nice but did u encounter any issues with setting up win7? the VBOX folks were quiet on win7. besides, how much do u game? cuz my man also need to know if he will be playing his tons of games in VM, do they run well? i ask cuz well since the VGA is emulated, i can think of possible ish, but the best bet is to try it out no? have u tried aptoncd? i tried it and it gave me a whole lot of rest of mind. now what it does is make an iso of all ur packages with a script for markings. u can then burn the iso on a cd. now i can afford to lose my install and not fret. wanna do kubuntu in a vm, then do itys packages too so i make an apt cd of that too, then i can get my kde libraries easily off a cd. |
