hmmmn, for starters there are literature but the best way to learn is hands on. install and then as u encounter issues u need to solve, u ask here and with google, most issues are solved already. google usually provides answers.

u may wish to consult www.ubuntuguide.org n that will help u a lot. its like a page on the basics and how to get started.

just dual boot, that way u can always play ur games in windows till ur very comfy with ubuntu and have verified ur alternatives and what works or wont work

@ nazzyon or who was it that was complaining about the grub entries thing, well what i posted about it worked.

what i said earlier is that u remove the unwanted kernel in synaptic, make sure u know the exact name and number of the kernel ,so u dont remove the wrong one

then open terminal and run sudo su
#update-grub.

Anyways, apparently just realised my error all this while. av been livin in the dark ages.

by that i mean, a combo of a live cd, an aptoncd cd, and virtualbox solves all my issues ever.
i dunno why i just never thot of the virtual box thing b4.

wellz, now i have been updating my system with so many stuff i even really dont need, so i put them on a apt cd incl virtual box

now i will wipe my drive, no more dual booting. ext4, install 10.04 afresh, use the apt cd to put all the packages in the cache, then install as i need,
install virtualbox, do a xp in it just 10gb for those hard to do shit like unlocking modems, and am set. GBAM!!

INSTALL THE PROPRIETARY VBOX AND NOT THE OSE O!

I knw how to stop a service and i dont even let it run as a daemon anyways. The thing is u probably dont change the 9051, i want to, the log give me port binding errors. The thing is the port is actually free! And yes i tried other ports, in fact any port at all except 9051 gives the error.

I edit the torrc and other config files with no hassles bt wont reflect in vidalia.

I use only privoxy too by the way. And from 9.10 u dnt need d entire init string to kill or start an app y know!

@ xpress, well as far as i know, when u put in another sim in the modem and u plug it in, the dashboard will ask u for an unlock code, u then input the code.

i dunno this one you are saying o. u need another network sim to do it, u put in the modem, plug it in, maybe attempt to dial with it, it will bring out a dialog asking for the code. if ur own no dey do like that, throw it away.


else, get the one i use that i posted the previous page, that one just asks u to plug in the modem and click a button, it will read the modem and unlock.


short of that two, maybe u need to see N95 with some cash to unlock for u o!!
