See this mugu! Learn to interpret court rulings! Your people, Bush and his henchmen, tried to deny the prisoners in Gitmo of their fundamental rights to a fair hearing, and they've failed! Obama will be president (I know you're unhappy about this reality), and close that place down!
Cretin, you have claimed that the legality of Gitmo ''hinges'' on recourse to judicial review. Recourse having been so granted, what then is this swine yapping about?

When one Israeli dies from a bicycle accident near a town where a rocket was fired, CNN and the rest of the Western media beam the news 24/7. However, when 100 Palestinians are killed by one of Israel's one-tonne bombs, it hardly makes the news.
Is it on planet imbecilia, which you reside, that 100 Palestinians were killed by one of Israel's one tonne bombs? Hyperbole is the refuge of ignoramuses.

RichyBlacK:
The illegality of Guantanamo goes beyond the physical existence of a such a hideous place, but hinges on the Bush-Cheney cabal's view that the prisoners have no rights and no legal recourse to the US courts. Fortunately, and most appropriately, the US Supreme court has ruled that such a view is illegal! Those prisoners must be allowed to seek justice and free themselves from the lying tentacles of the worst administration mankind has ever seen!
See this charlatan. If the legality of Gitmo hinges on whether detainees have recourse to judicial review then as from June 2008,henceforth, accusations of illegality would be pointless as recourse has been granted.

What is your point? My condemnation of Stalin's gulag wasn't strong enough? Can't you just condemn the gulag of today (Guantanamo) instead of telling us about the many gulags of yesteryear?
Please, go and read up on history before you can be taken seriously and quit copying and pasting articles off the net.

If you fail to see that mixing up Gitmo with the term ''gulag'' is easily rebutted by putting Gitmo in its proper perspective - whether by comparison to Naija police stations or their ilk - then you my friend are a congenital idiot and should be sterilised, with euthanisation strongly considered.

However, inasmuch as I appreciate Bush's point of view, you'll agree with me he was probably overwhelmed by 911 & took some wrong decisions. We can't justify illegality.
A measure is illegal only in so far as it has been determined to be in breach of law. Tell me what law Gitmo breaches: domestic law or international law?

The issue of Gitmo is complex and should not lend to simplistic characterisations.

What's your point? To refresh our memories of Stalin's perceived overreaches?

Granted, Stalin had a dark side, but that is not the focus of the thread. This thread is about the George W. Bush, the epitome of incompetence in the present age.
You crudely deploy hyperbole and euphemisms with scant regard for reality. Stalin had a dark side? Stalin atrocities match, even surpass by some historical accounts, Hitler's.

To refer to Guantanamo as a gulag is crass. Nothing illustrates much of the intellectual bankruptcy of Bush critiques as the absurd mutilation of history and use of hyperbole.

Gitmo has been running for 7 years and not even Obama has fashioned any clear cut plans on how to deal with its inmates and future captives. Back in WWII, FDR's solution was to detain every single person of Japanese origin, this is currently the best of all possible evils.
Foreign Affairs''God Almighty Does Not Hear The Prayer Of A Jew'' by 4Play(op): 12:53am On Dec 24, 2008
The Hitch is working himself into a frenzy over Obama's invitation to Rick ''The purpose driven life'' Warren to say prayers at the inauguration.

It is a fact that Rick Warren, pastor of the Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif., was present at a meeting of the Aspen Institute not long ago and was asked by Lynda Resnick—she of the pomegranate-juice dynasty—if a Jew like herself could expect to be admitted to paradise. Warren publicly told her no. What choice did he have? His own theology says that only those who accept Jesus can hope to be saved.
A president may by all means use his office to gain re-election, to shore up his existing base, or to attract a new one. But the day of his inauguration is not one of the days on which he should be doing that. It is an event that belongs principally to the voters and to their descendants, who are called to see that a long tradition of peaceful transition is cheerfully upheld, even in those years when the outcome is disputed. I would myself say that it doesn't need a clerical invocation at all, since, to borrow Lincoln's observation about Gettysburg, it has already been consecrated. But if we must have an officiating priest, let it be some dignified old hypocrite with no factional allegiance and not a tree-shaking huckster and publicity seeker who believes that millions of his fellow citizens are hellbound because they do not meet his own low and vulgar standards.
The bolded part highlights the author's lack of appreciation of the reality that if Obama is a Christian, chances are that he subscribes to Warren's views on salvation. If not, he is a hypocrite and is no Christian.

RichyBlack wrote, ''Have ever condemned the gulag called Guantanamo''? Your reply is I know this is a new concept to you but you don't win debates by displaying misanthropy,  calling people names, screaming your head off etc.
This  only turns you into a chipmunk,  eek!! eek!!.
The more apt response should have been that any reference of Guantanamo Bay as a ''gulag'' smacks of historical illiteracy, moral obtuseness and an obscenely egregious dimunition of the sufferings of the real Gulag inmates.

At least 10 million people were guests of the Soviet gulags which saw the deaths of over a million people; many of them women and children. Such is the crassness of modern discourse that  idiotic hyperboles are deployed in criticising perceived overreaches by the Bush administration.

As we post, there are more innocent people detained at Awka Central police station than in Guantanamo Bay.

Not really, but Naija accent should never be mixed with Cockney.

Talking of accents, don't know why but nothing turns me on as much as a woman with Scottish accent. If I can find a Naija girl with very good Scottish accent, pure bliss!

Did you see this beautiful comment by the Napoli President responding to rumors about potential transfers to England
"If they want to go to England then in the end they're going to go, but they need to understand this: the English live badly, eat badly and their women do not wash their Instruments. To them, a bidet is a mystery."

Full time. With Fiorentina winning, Roma will find themselves 9 points from Fiorentina, who will be in 4th assuming Milan wins tonight.

Echoes of Milan last season going into their 2nd round fixture against Arsenal. If Roma doesn't win the UCL, they should be looking at the EUFA Cup next season, which will be catastrophic for the club's precarious financial situation. I don't know whether it's because of Sensi's death but the club seems to be drifting to catastrophe.

Roma is staging a comeback, 5 minutes to go. The way things are, they will be lucky to make the top 4. Serie A keeps 'reshuffling' its top 4 every season

To be honest City havnt got a decent squad
And instead of spending the whole lot of the £35mills on Robinho, i would have bought 3-4 decent squad players!
He needs to forget about all the money and the big signings, and do what he did at Blackburn
He is no doubt a good manager, so i have a feeling he will survive the sack! undecided
Compared to Blackburn, they've got a very good squad, yet, they are currently in 18th place.

Sven had largely the same squad last season and was never this bad. I think Hughes has little say over some of the major signings. I don't think he had anything to do with the signing of Jo(£18m) and Robinho(£32m) but given the squad he has got, City have no business being in 18th place.

By the standards Ince has been judged, bear in mind Ince had little money to spend and lost key players to injury and transfer, Hughes is long overdue for a sack.
