I think our banking sector is over-bloated. Too many employees on unsustainable salaries. This mass culling is very good for the banking industry as it is way of revamping their cost structure.

Since our schools back home are nothing to write home about,
we can send our kids to the best schools outside naija,

however, when the result of not living with, knowing and bringing up
our kids by ourselves
comes out,we should face it.

Thank God,as bad as our schools are,no nigerian school
has ever produced a terrorist.

What goes around,comes around.
You mean all those Boko Haram boys all studied abroad?

Yeah but I think he thrived on the lone-forward formation which United didn't have the players for at the time, especially in the midfield.
Rooney and CR7 came into their own the moment he left. That should tell you something.
I don't think it mattered what formation you played. He thrived playing as part of a striking pair at PSV. At Utd, it didn't really matter whether he was the lone striker or paired with a striker. I think age caught up with him eventually.

Our defensive crisis has not only caused problems in defense but problems in midfield as we have had to pull midfield resources to plug the gaps in defence. I think the squad is more than good enough to win the EPL again.

Valencia is an absolute knucklehead, how many of his crosses keep getting blocked? His decision making is very poor and for a Latin American footballer, it's amazing that he can hardly dribble past anybody. I still think he will improve tremendously though, just annoying watching him at the moment.

The high explosive Abdulmutallab used was identified by the FBI as Pentaerythritol, better known as PETN – a major component of Semtex. He injected a detonating liquid into the PETN with a syringe, but the bomb failed to explode.

The revelation of Abdulmutallab's background has confounded terror experts. Dr Magnus Ranstorp of the Center for Asymmetric Threat Studies at the Swedish National Defence College said that the attempted bombing "didn't square".

"On the one hand, it seems he's been on the terror watch list but not on the no-fly list," he said. "That doesn't square because the American Department for Homeland Security has pretty stringent data-mining capability. I don't understand how he had a valid visa if he was known on the terror watch list.

"Why didn't he go to the toilets to detonate the bomb? Why would he try to set it off 20 minutes before he's going to land? It could probably have been successful had the person not been amateurish. I think this is a sign that it's much more difficult now for al-Qa'ida to pull off something serious."

Chaim Koppel, a security consultant, added: "I think the explosive was supposed to go bang rather than just start a fire. The terrorists probably didn't mix it well enough. Maybe they didn't do enough practice runs, but the more the guy is trained, the more exposed he is to MI5, MI6, the FBI and other security agencies, so he probably didn't receive enough training."

Why didn't he go to the loo to set off the device? Presumably, the explosion would be contained if he was in the loo than if he was in the passenger seat where he can blow a sufficient enough hole in the plane to send it crashing

DIMITAR BERBATOV needs knee surgery which will rule him out for three months.

Manchester United's Bulgarian striker has a ligament problem.

Berbatov does not have to go under the knife straight away. But he has been playing through the pain barrier and surgery in the near future is deemed inevitable to solve the trouble.

It is another blow to boss Alex Ferguson, who has endured a spate of injuries this season. But it could mean more games for Michael Owen and lift his World Cup bid.

They are shoo-ins for the terror Olympics as far as Africa is concerned. In the London bombing of '05, there was a convert of Caribbean, I believe Jamaican, origin. Terrorism is a global problem and every nation is represented.

Somalians, Ethiopians, Tanzanians, Sudanese, Kenyans have all been linked with terrorism.

There was an attempted bombing in the UK back in 2005 that featured a guy called Asiedu, Ghanaian name.

Can't a man from chad get a Nigerian passport or can't a man from Pakistan get it? how long did it take you to get your Nigerian passport? did you have to provide any highly important data before you got your Nigerian passport? where in Nigeria is his from? what state, which city. more than 1 million people could bear any of these names in Nigeria or anywhere else around the world.
Still in denial, eh? Don't worry, we will soon find out his village for you. Even then, I'm sure you will come up with something . . . .  like claiming that his great-grandparents migrated from Chad and so he is not a 'son of the soil'.

Nigeria is being described as a country with a strong Al-Qaeda presense and weak security on CNN.

Jesu! Marines are knocking on ya door! shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
USA! USA! If the US invaded Nigeria, I would volunteer to join the invasion force.  grin  However, that's not going to happen.

Let's be serious, there are far more Europeans and Americans who have been linked to Al-Qaeda than there are Nigerians. This one-off incident shouldn't be the basis of major policy changes.

A Nigerian reported to be studying in Britain allegedly tried to blow up a transatlantic airliner on Christmas Day in what the White House called an attempted act of terrorism.

The suspect, claiming links to al-Qaeda, was taken into custody with burns after allegedly trying to detonate explosives on Northwest Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit.

He was identified by ABC News as Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, an engineering student at University College London.

He was reportedly on a US intelligence “watch-list” but not on the US Government’s no-fly list.
