Southern Africa countries are doing pretty well, But Western Africa is the most backward region!!

We're too corrupt in this part of the world

Someone has said it o.

I was saying it here and one yeye guy was attacking me.

West Africa is one of the most backward regions.

Southern Africa is doing well, they have miss of whites. They have poor citizens too but are not as criminally minded as most Nigerians and west africans grin

Until we restructure our political system, nothing for this country o.

As for now, na so so interest in which region produces the next president we are interested in. Nigeria is cursed grin

U can't charge such tax with less than 100 dollars minimum wage.

Increase the purchasing power ur country citizens and increase their tax.

These countries, after tax, citizens still have enough to live a higher middle class life.

So, no be tax matter. The little citizens are paying here from their poor minimum wage, what has the govt done with it?

Most of u don't know that the major problem with Nigeria is her political structure. This system can't work even in gbe next 50 years. It will only keep getting worse.

So how do we icrease purchasing power in nigeria?
I know government gives everyone a job and dashes people money, with low oil prices

We don't have these kind of streets in nigeria because we are not ready to pay the kind of taxes that would fund and maintain those kind of streets.

In the UK, if you are living in the city, you pay council tax which ranges from 60000 to 100000 naira monthly depending on the city. That money goes into making the cities look nice

That's why uk cities have great streets.

If we charged that kind of tax in Nigeria, Nigerians would scream.

So we pay scanty taxes and get scanty and bad roads

The bad roads we have in Nigeria are what we can afford. The sad thing is that looting still happens on top

You talk about taxes like it's some sort of generalised round figure. The truth is govt taxes a percentage of a population's income.
If you earn 100,000 pounds and the tax is 50% in the U.K, you cannot compare it to someone in Nigeria who earns same 100,000 naira monthly and is also taxed 50%.
Monetary value is one factor affecting inability to make headway or create something meaningful with taxes in Nigeria.
Another factor is lack of centralised data. How many people in the country are on the government's unified tax register? Instead what we have is multiple taxation at different levels. In other words, everyone's doing what they like.
Another factor is the issue of trust between the government and the people.
You can't tell me Nigerians don't pay tax at all...or have never paid tax in massive numbers in the past. But where is the incentive to keep paying taxes?
No where. When people can't see what their taxes are being used for, they begin to question its essence and necessity.

These things aren't rocket science.

Bro I am contemplating on joining politics, wanna try my best to get my state to look at least close to this!!
You are Contemplating the abominable, joining politics and becoming a governor would effect no change.... Even budha and gandhi as president Na wash...
The system is corrupt and lacks accountability,we need a total overhaul in our three arms of government, restructuring and change in constitution to make everything workable, you talk as if it's just becoming a governor and making fine roads, lol before fine and maintained roads was a working goverment.
We need to review everything, goverment wages and salaries, armed Forces entry requirements, training type, allocations, industrialisation etc
It so unfortunate that at this level, the only way to achieve this is through the chaos of revolution seeing that the senate/house of assembly would never agree to it,you can say we are doomed....... France,us etc had revolution to triumph evil before becoming great

Restructure or burst...

Tax is not an excuse. We don't have to be taxes as half aa UK to be able to have those roads. The United Kingdom don't have the multiple natural resources that we have so they tax their citizens that much. We have enought natural resources to cover for it but our leaders are looting the money. We have the right to scream when our tax is increased. The UK doesn't have the natural resources to augment their GDP, so they can tax that much.

TAX IS NOT THE ISSUE.

Liar!

There is no where in Nigeria that people pay 30k per month as council tax.

And by the way tax is charged as a percentage of your income,so the low level of income is not an excuse for not paying tax.

The higher your income, the higher the absolute value of tax paid.

The guy paying 30k council tax might be paying lower or higher than others, depending on income.
Since you decided to use the word liar I will also address you that way. Dont be silly
Did the UK person say he pays council tax monthly? Abi you cannot read and understand? Did I say I pay monthly? Why add monthly?
I said I pay between 20-30k! And that is yearly silly.

THE REASONS ARE SIMPLE.
BECAUSE NIGERIAN LEADERS ARE THINKING WITH THEIR ANUS AND HER CITIZENS KEEP ON RANTING AND SAYING HE GO BETTER WITHOUT TAKING ACTION THAT WILL REVOLVE NIGERIA TO THAT CHANGES THAT EVEN BEGGERS WILL SEE GOOD STREET AND ROAD AS THEIR HOME.

For starters, that is right

ba7man:
To have environments like this, we need;

(1) Town planners and Environment designers that are exceptional.

(2) A budget to fund the projects.

(3) Get rid of all street traders and ensure they never get close.

(4) covered drains with ample sidewalks that have greenery, seating, waste disposal facilities.

(5) Electric lines need to be buried.

(6) Beautiful architectural buildings. Rugged buildings should be acquired by fiat, torn down and rebuilt.

(7) Sensible citizens that will appreciate the environment and not throw litter in the streets.

All it takes is good leadership and people with vision. We should convert this social media activeness criticism of our leaders to the real thing to choose where we Nigeria want to be. The option is ours, talk is cheap and action takes courage. You guys should start asking the difficult questions, what you want to see developed in your own local government area before the state and then federal...

@OP, you won't see such clean street in Nigeria because we are dirty people with no cleanliness culture. We think cleanliness is when you wake up bathe, and clean your house but go outside and litter the environment.

Until we start seeing the environment as part of our abode and not for government or unseen forces to keep clean, we will never see this level of cleanliness.

Stop littering and stop dropping waste illegitimately!
