I was comparing the art of winning and losing elections and not their persons. Learn to differentiate the two.
One is white and the other black. One married to an ex president, God knows whom the other is married to, so how can I compare them both.

And besides, just to set the records straight: the contest bw Ngige and Dora was not acrimonious. So that assertion is just a plain distortion of facts. I understand this is NL so anything goes.

This is political discussion, not marriage affairs. Even tho your Dora tried to mix the two together.
Bt the way, my "assertion" was not focused on the result, but more on her recent political actions.

Politics in Nigeria is not that simplistic . . . majority of the voters usually have deep reason for voting one individual or the other.

Re: Anambra central senatorial Election: Dora Akunyili (APGA) vs Chris Ngige of ACN by Metalgoong(m): 11:19am On Apr 10, 2011
statement issued by aides of former information minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), claimed that she leading in the Ananmbra Central senatorial district elections.

Accordingly, collated results as at 7:30 this morning were given as follows:

Anaocha LGA: APGA 22,481; ACN 4,561; Accord 1,282; Awka North LGA: APGA 4,245, ACN 1,787, Accord 3,924; Awka South LGA: APGA 12,510, ACN 11,973, Accord 3,812.

The results shows that Akunyili is defeating her formidable rival Dr. Chris Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the race.

However, oppsition party sources told SaharaReporters that Governor Peter Obi and his cohorts had apparently rigged the results of the elections in Anaocha LGA. Several sources in Anambra disclosed that the results from Aniocha Local Government Area were not revealed until early this morning.

“There’s an obvious delay of results from Aniocha, the local government of Governor Peter Obi and Dr. Dora Akunyili,” said a source, adding that the plan appeared to be to announce inflated number of votes for the APGA senatorial candidate once it emerges that Mr. Obi’s candidate has lost the majority of votes as collated from other LGAs.

“It’s past 1 a.m. here and yet the results from Aniocha remain a secret,” said an observer.

Opposition sources in Anambra also indicated that INEC officials moved some polling stations without prior notice and also supplied ballot result sheets late to areas where APGA candidates were deemed unpopular. Other problems in Anambra include shortage of ballot papers as well as unusually high incidence of voters arriving at designated polling booths to find that their names were missing from the registers.

“The most amazing thing is that some voters who saw their names last week, when the elections were cancelled, arrived today only to be told that their names were not on the register,” said one of the opposition sources in the state.

The Will update

Anambra:

*We are withdrawing our earlier projection for this race. More results being collated. Dr. Chris Ngige (ACN); Professor Dora Akunyili (APGA) and incumbent Senator Annie Okonkwo in Senatorial race.

It seems like Dora is leading now.

Why the late release of results in Anaocha LGA? That single LGA is likely to be the determining factor. . . yet we hear no word about it until very late in the process. Seems a bit odd. . .

^-- Intimidation by APGA thugs too in this Agulu area:

http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/apga-thugs-assault-opponents-governor-obi%E2%80%99s-hometown

In the run-up to the election, Governor Obi resorted to ethnic politics to discredit Mr. Ngige. He published huge billboards showing APGA candidates with the late President of Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe and ailing former Biafran leader Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu whilst Mr. Ngige is shown in posters with  the late Obafemi Awolowo and former Governor Bola Tinubu. A political activist from Anambra condemned Governor Obi’s manipulation of ethnic sentiments. “Look, Nigerians from all parts of the country supported Governor Obi in his epic battle to take back the governorship both from Dr. Ngige and Chief Andy Uba, who was installed by Obasanjo. So why is he trying to discredit Ngige by sending a message that Dr. Ngige belongs to a Yoruba party? It is a shame.”

Heh. Well, I'll wait for the final results to be released. . . but I hope Ngige doesn't allow himself to be cheated out of victory by touts.

Its pathetic to see most of us shouting "Dora" just cos she belongs to a party we view as "our own".
What has APGA or Obi done for Anambarians?

IMO,Ngige is the best man for the job,God willing he wud win.To hell with blind and utterly ridiculous party affiliations that has kept us where we are today;1 step forward,11 steps backwards.

Shouldn't every Nigerian hope that candidates shouldn't be cheated out of elections? What hypocrisy is there?

Not to talk of a member of my own party in Ngige.

For both of those reasons, it is my business.

It's not because she belongs to a particular party, it's because she is Dora.
Anambra central is my constituency, not yours, get it?

You have also fallen to the ethnic trap! What interest do APGA have Do you think they care about your interest What about ACN Do you think they care about Yoruba interest If they did, they would not have won Edo, Benue and some Northern districts.
Please, do not let ethnic or tribal parties/ sentiments to blind your judgement.

If ACN or Fashola had messed up, they will be voted out in Lagos. DO NOT BE A TRIBALIST!!!

Please tell me what Peter Obi has done. . .before we start comparing him with anyone!

Spending millions to buy computers(debatable)for schools without roofs?

Spending millions to construct "pit latrines" ?

Please educate me,point out "actual" things that OBI has done.

Dora does NOT even come into question here NOW,She has NOT held any political office for her state so there is no grounds to start rating her statewise.
