Works Of Righteousness: The Only Reason God's Ever Reversed His Spoken Word

Numbers 23:19 (KJV)

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

For those who really know the ways of God, they know how much importance He attaches to any Word that proceeds from His mouth.

Hence it's believed that once any Word proceeds from His mouth, it's certain to take place.

However there was an instance that proved that there is one thing that can make God reverse His Spoken Word!

It was that concerning the people of Nineveh. God had said that He would overthrow the city in forty days because of their wickedness. But after they repented and turned away from their evil works, it was said:

Jonah 3:10 (KJV)

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Therefore God reversed His pronounced judgment upon them because of their works of righteousness after they had repented. This was the only reason God has ever overturned His Spoken Word to prove that there's nothing God values more than the works of righteousness.

A similar thing happened with King Hezekiah. This was the Word which God had spoken to him via His prophet Isaiah:

"Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live." 2 Kings 20:1

But after Hezekiah had received that Word from God, it was said that he prayed and presented his works of righteousness before the Lord, saying:

"I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight." 2 Kings 20:2-3

Now God's reaction to that prayer of Hezekiah was that He reversed His Spoken Word that Hezekiah would die, by healing him and adding fifteen more years to King Hezekiah's life. 2 Kings 20:4-6

That again confirms the fact that the works of righteousness moves God more than anything else concerning man, because there's no other way man has made God reverse His spoken Word but with his works of righteousness.

Yet this is what some believe is as filthy rags before God, so maybe they should give us just one example of something else that's made God change His Spoken Word concerning man to prove their point.
