When we were growing up as kids, we knew other kids not just in our street, but the area. Everyone knew everyone's house, siblings and parents. Today, my children don't even know the name of their neighbours let alone play with them. We think it's a sign of civilization and mind your business, but it shows how far apart we have grown and how we are falling as a society

If you have lived in Asia, this behavior would have been very normal to you. I once lived in a place and my next door neighbor was a very reclusive japanese business man. For over 5 years, we only nodded at each other once we run into each other coincidentally at the entrance doors. Got to know he's japanese from another Nigerian neighbor. I didn't even know about the nationalities of all those living around the other apartments, though their facial outlook gave away their ethnicities. I think Nigerians and maybe Africans like to know everything about their neighbors. They want to know where you're from, where you're working, when you go out and when you come back. I personally hate that nonsense..

MISSCONGENIALITY:
I don't have same compound neighbor but 90%of the people in my street know me especially kids.
That aunty that has fine dog.
I know a few people by face but not by name. My opposite neighbor and his wife do check up on me from time to time and so does my neighbor to the left.
When they don't see me for sometime they know at my gate to know how I'm doing. They are all grandparents, but we rapour very well.
