Most countries in the world are having their worst periods.

What did you think a covid 19 pandemic and oil industry crisis would do to a useless monoeconomy like ours where we produce nothing but have been importing almost everything for 50 years plus?

I repeat the signs were there in 2014, if Gej had won a second term Nigeria would not be in existence today.

This is nothing but gross exaggeration. It is a crime on its own to exaggerate on what you are not sure of,Nigeria would have also been better than it was in 2014.

How was Buhari a better option? Capacity wise, health ground or past achievements, where was Buhari better ?

It was only a stone over GEJ for those that were blinded by religion and ethnicity sick and tired of GEJ's incompetence and recurring blunders. Buhari, as at 2015, had nothing to offer.
Just a point of correction above. Very many people fell in that category; i.e. the category of people who were sick and tired of the incompetence and nonchalance and lootocracy of GEJ's admin. Oh yes, Buhari ended up being worse; just a dead piece of wood, but that doesnt invalidate the reasons a lot of people chose to prioritise 'giving Jonathan the boot' over everything else. Not everyone is tribal.

My point is don't castigate him for saying Nigerians should forgive Buhari for his past as that had no effect whatsoever to the outcome of the election. People voted out PDP because APC played their cards well unlike what PDP are doing as an opposition rather than the believe many voted Buhari because of Soyinka...
My point is that Soyinka and every other Buhari supporter should take some responsibility. We can't pretend to be surprised by Buhari's failure when we very well knew he was a failure.
Suddenly, everything he did in the 80s was forgotten and forgiven. It's important that all his supporters including Soyinka take responsibility so they don't repeat the same mistake and cause more pain to everyone.

I can't find any wisdom in jumping from frying pan to fire. The latter is far worse. Running from incompetence to a far worse situation; is that the category you belong? No wonder, Nigeria is in a sorry situation. There were better candidates, why did your category not go for them if really you were running from incompetence?

Given Nigeria's political structure, there were only 2 candidates from the only 2 serious political parties at the time. Also given the horrible security situation at the time, and the sheer incompetence of the last govt in handling the insecurity, it clearly seemed like the only pragmatic choice to try a new hand. A lot of people clearly forget how boko haram was releasing bombs almost every other week even in the centre of Abuja. That needed to be checked, and that endeared many to the idea of trying a new option who was at least seen as ex-military.

So yes, the new hand may have failed today, but given the situation at the time, I feel absolutely no regrets for my decision at the time to boot out the former guy and try something different.

Can someone tell Reno that Soyinka made that statement after Buhari won the election.

Soyinka was advising Nigerians to not look into the past but Judge Buhari on his actions as a President.

That is not campaigning for Buhari.

Wole Soyinka is not and has never been a man of his words. Believe him at your own peril. This is the man who told the world that if Trump becomes the president of the United States, he would publicly tear his US passport. Till date, who has seen him do so.

He's a typical yoruba never be trusted.

Hmm, I laugh in Swahili. Even if Professor Soyinka urged Nigerians to support Bihari against Jonathan, don't you have your own mind to think for yourself, or did he compel you to cast your vote for Buhari at gunpoint? So, if Professor Soyinka says Nigerians should go and jump into the lagoon, would you be so gullible to go and jump into the lagoon? Reno should be ashaned of himself and his selfish criticism of the Icon. During the Nigerian civil war, Wole Soyinka was imprisoned because he supported the Biafran. What has Reno done to show that he is a fighter for the rights of the masses? Nothing but just to criticise because his master, Jonathan lost the 2015 election and his daily bread ended cos of this. Smh

That man called Soyinka I have no single respect for him because he brought campus cultism to Nigeria I'm sorry Soyinka is nobody to me infact he should be detained for founding cultism in this country.

Moreso he is a liar for denying buhari now, he campaigned and begged foolish Nigerians to vote the calamity in Aso Rock to power.

This was after the 2015 election.

The Prof has clarified that he didn't say vote for Buhari. That's what I want to see.

Or is Reno saying we mustn't forgive ?

Soyinka has not denied that he marketed Buhari in 2015 .
Buhari is the one that did not perform well.
You people should give it to Soyinka for being able to point out Buhari failure.
If Soyinka has continue to support Buhari government with all his failures, that is when we can see him as not man enough.

Huncle, he has.

Where was Reno Omokirikiri when Bianca Ojukwu and Ebele Obiano were on a slapping spree and disgracing themselves all over a live National broadcast.

The hypocritical bigot shamelessly refused to comment just because they are Igbos.

Reno omokirikiri is just a bigot filled with hate against northerners and SW people. The moment you are from those areas, you become his enemy.

Professor Soyinka, like many others, were totally misled by Buhari's fake integrity and body odour, sorry, body language.

Given Buhari's unrelenting efforts at securing the number one seat and his brief stint in power as a military head of state ably assisted by the late Tunde Idiagbon, it was erroneously thought then that, that he was capable of righting the wrongs in the system.

Alas!

Buhari turned out to be a huge mountain of disappointment!

Blame not the Prof!
