Hannaleeyah:1. Promoting what act? Be specific! 2. This world is not much different from the way it was when you were a kid. You saw and knew coursemates who were sexually active even before 16-years of age. And you probably also knew some in your community who had to carry the burden of raising a child at that young age due to pregnancy that early. So I don't understand why you folks pretend it has always been the same story from when you were young. |

Wittyglam:The family planning folks typically take care of that as well. These are medical clinics dedicated to family planning patient service, like your different departments in your big hospitals.. So again, Who in particular bled constantly from using what particular family planning method? Be specific please...no more story telling abeg! |

Kobojunkie: So in your books abstinence till 18 (the age of consent) is impossible? |
Re: A 16-Year-Old Girl Went For Family Planning Because Of Her Boyfriend by Kobojunkie: 9:33pm On Sep 15, 2022 |
mrdino:How many of your classmates, growing up, where able to abstain to even that age of 18? Also, Age of consent is a legal term for the age a person must reach to give consent to sex. If an adult engages in any type of sexual activity with someone below the age of consent in that state, they’re committing a crime even if the minor said they agreed to have sex. Teenagers are not barred by law from having sex with their fellow Teenagers and even then pregnancies and STDS can result from such engagements.. |

Kobojunkie:I think she used the injectable birth control method. As a marriage counselor, I advise couples intending to get married to use non-chemical birth control methods like Condoms, Calender or Sympto-thermal methods until they have at least two children before going of Pills, Injectables, Norplant etc. It is better to be safe than sorry! |
Re: A 16-Year-Old Girl Went For Family Planning Because Of Her Boyfriend by Kobojunkie: 9:59pm On Sep 15, 2022 |
TenQ:1. How exactly did you arrive at the conclusion that the injection is what led to the barrenness? https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/contraceptive-injection 2. I don't think a marriage counselor should be giving that kind of advice to anyone since you have no medical license to decide these things for anyone. That's my opinion. What you call chemicals are hormones many of which the body already produces for itself and others we ingest through other means. So putting fear of chemical forms of contraception some of which are more effective than the objects of contraception is akin to advising them not to use contraception at all. 1 Like |

Kobojunkie: Encouraging the act of family planning at that young she is! What if she was even ignorant of what she was even into? What if it was her boyfriend who encouraged her into such? This is bad , what is bad is bad , why do we keep encouraging acts like this Why can't we just keep publicizing it that the act of sex alone sef for these underage is bad to talk of even resorting into family planning! Would you be happy to hear your daughter do that? Why are we promoting immorality? A girl getting exposed to sex at that young age to the extent of even thinking about family planning so she can have it without any borders! What if it was the likes of the comments I've been seeing under this post that misled her? It's so sad to see people encourage this ! An innocent soul might go through the comments on this post and easily resort to the act being a good one. |

Hannaleeyah:My fear is that so many of you are responding emotionally as opposed to logically about these things here. 1. The average 16-year-old in Nigeria today is already sexually active. It was so back some 30 years ago and is the same even today. Many of them are completely ignorantly driven by their hormones mind you into sexual act after act. This particular 16-year-old went into a family planning clinic, and you think she is ignorant of what she is into, how come? You fear her boyfriend may have encouraged her, and I ask can you please be more specific about what it is you think family planning infers in this case? 2. Why not preach abstinence along with protection for those who find the abstinence standard too hard to keep to? Again, the average 16-year-old kid in Nigeria is already sexually active with no desire to pull the brakes anytime soon as a result of those teenage hormones. Must we ignore that all so we continue to teach a message that is lost to them? Who exactly is this bad for? The image you want to maintain or the teens who are already out there and need to be protected instead? 3. Be sure that I believe all kids should be sexually educated from as young as age 10 - 11, and even before their teenage years, parents ought to start teaching them how to obtain contraceptives and protection for when they find themselves losing control of their hormones. It is better to be prepared than unprepared at all. I would rather they be sexually responsible than be sexually irresponsible and have their lives scarred as a result. An "innocent soul" exposed to sex without information on how to protect herself is bound to end up pregnant or even infected by some disease that may burden her for life. Why not protect that "innocent soul" whom you cannot watch 24/7 by giving the tools that will not only potentially save her life but also keep her from making an even bigger mistake when she eventually falls for temptation while you aren't watching? 4. what do you mean by this? |

Kobojunkie:1. As a marriage counsellor, have i preached no use of contraceptives? No! 2. Do some drugs have adverse reaction to some people? Yes! Why wouldn't I teach about minimizing risks of infertility in new couples? Here is a quote from an abstract of a medical research Cardiovascular effects, cancer, infertility, mood changes and weight gain were the most commonly specified risks related to oral contraceptives, and infections, effects on menstruation and ectopic pregnancy were most mentioned regarding IUDs. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9844842/ |
