This year, try to make sure you pay attention to what is in fact written in the book and not what you assume of what is written in the book.

What is written in scripture is that the law you quoted was instead given by God as a part of the National Constitution of the Nation of Israel in the Land of Canaan - Deuteronomy 30 vs 15 - 20. So how does it make sense to quote a law that belongs to another country at the person there who was abandoned by his father?
