its amazing no one seems to understand that this is the root of the epidemic and the more single mothers there are the worse it will become. if you come from a 2 parent stable home, it is more difficult for you to willingly to be a single mother or have a child outside as a man. What we see at home and out circle of influence becomes our boundaries. Personally I dont let my children hang out with children of single mothers, ofcourse i cant do anything when they are in school but i dont allow my children to visit the home of a friend i know is the child of a single mother and certainly no sleep overs.

The job of a parent is to set a value system and mould your children. It is difficult for you to set boundaries and values when they look at you and your life and it doesn’t tally with what you are saying. Children learn more from what they see and experience than what you say. If you don’t have a husband, how can you tell your child not to be a single mother? let me say this to you. As a teenager I was a bit rebellious but when i look at my life today, I realize that I am guided by the things my parents told me, what I saw, the values and examples they set. No matter how rebelious I was, I never got into drugs or impregnated any woman etc. Today, now that I have matured I realise that it is those values that guid my actions. What I realised is that children are smarter than we give them credit for and even though they may rebel, they dont forget. The mistake is to think you are fighting a losing battle in the world of today and dont do your job as a parent.

You are right, its hard parenting in today's world of social media, sexual promiscuity, drugs, materialism etc but your job as a parent is tokeep on emphasising your values...trust me it is not wasted.

you talk about 13yr old kids watching porn. when i was young, there were some houses where we could hang out and do stuff, very often you'll find even if the parents were together, they were often homes where the father was absent for long periods, travel work etc. They were the cool kids because we could hang out at their houses and be free. But guess what, when I look at the majority of my friends who have fallen by the wayside or not lived up to their potential, or even died from drugs, the majority come from such backgrounds...a home where things were too lax. in those days single moms were rare, now Imagine a home where there is no father to begin with and the kind of nonsense and laxity that will be happening in such homes, in order to compensate for an absent father...... these are the kids that influence other children with porn etc.

Its an unavoidable aspect of raising children in today's world but you have to stand your ground because you know better and not admit defeat. if a child from a baby mama is wayward, it is expected...what is the excuse of the child of 2 parent home....that you gave up and allowed fatherless children to influence how you raise your child? The world is tough, it is tougher when you surrender to the influence of baby mamas and their children.

In my house they know no sleepover unless I not my wife speaks to the father, no mother to mother business, thank god my wife is on the same page with me on single mothers. Anytime i see them with a new friend I ask who is your father and what does he do. It was a subtle way of letting my children know that if you dont have a father you are not welcome around my children and now they know without me expressly saying it.

the problem with many parents nowadays is they forget their role is to mould children not to be nice or agreeable.
