@ all,
as i so much have admirations for information being shared on this forum based on FTA, so i so much dislike wrong info or better still a rumour in a lay-man language. A guy named bodejohn if am right said he got TV malawi on nss7 at ibadan which i didnt believe i thought if i do a re-scan on my system i might be able to recieve its signal but to my dismay nothing came up.
The only difference i got was a station named 'MISE A JOUR' but whats being aired on this station is the same with France24 french but without audio. I'm hereby imploring us all to do away with passing of wrong info on this forum, because most theoretical info we praticalised are gotten from this great forum.

@ nss7 ku-band viewers,
you are welcome to match these following matches this weekend

Lille vs Lyon on Direct8/Tv 5 at 17:05hrs. on Sat 1st March, i cant really which exact station that will be showing that between those two stations

West Ham Utd vs Chelsea on RDV at 16:30hrs on Saturday 1st March

Bolton vs Liverpool on RDV at 14:30hrs on Sunday 2nd March

@ all-experts,
As I so much cherished creativity so i love Continuity. As far as KU-band is concerned i give myself a thumb-up and also show appreciation to all those that really helped me people like Enigma, Pitodenz, Twinsstaiye, Jujukemist, Tushman, Vickoy and lastly my guru badaru1 whom i disturbed then with lot of phone calls. I can now say its now time i move on cos i dont believe in stagnation, one have got to move up. I want to try a c-band setup, but first of alli will need information like the best bird to hook onto, whether the dish should be motorised or fixed? So i humbly welcome opinions from c-band users but dont forget i'm settling for just 1.8m size dish.

Thanks all

Can anyone tell me the total cost of setting up a c-band satellite receiver. I already have a decoder, and the dish will be motorised?

I'm awaiting your response.

I am beginning to get disappointed about the type of people i interact with on this forum.
I have never questioned the notes and discoveries of fellow nairalanders here even when i find that they are wrong.
How could enitan2002 conclude that i posted a wrong information on the TV Malawi. You could see the suprise i had too.
Enitan2002 for your information i have 3 dishes installed at home facing 68.5, 36E and 22W and i do my scanning almost every other day. When i informed the forum that 4653x works with dstv was it not true or didn't you see the new channel (Wonderful Tv) on Pas 10?
I will try not to join issues with enitan2002 because i have seen that he is always involved in controversies.
Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by emyikiseh(m): 12:58pm On Mar 01, 2008
If you want to get the best from C-BAND signals, then 1.8mt dish will be too small, except if your location is in the Northern part of the country. The minimum size of dish you need is 2.4mt. For best result, you have to motorize.

Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by Nobody: 2:16pm On Mar 02, 2008
@ bodejohn,

I've seen read your post sent it, but my time through out yesterday was very precious so i dont wana waste it at all. But today i can just spare you a little out of it.

First of all,

we are not the only one you interact with, ok? You interact with the whole human race that are intrested in FTA through this medium.

Whether you questioned the researches made by other users and you found out that they are wrong is none of my business, it's simply because you dont have a faint idea of what they are trying to pass across and you couldnt understood them in putting their findings into something practical.

I was born to question theories, everyone can remember the guy that just came from nowhere saying he has this special software and was trying to ridicule the good works of the specialists on this forum, where is he now? His software is next to nothing. I really questioned him then.

After i made some countless researches, i can conclude your info is baseless and false, is that a crime?

I'm not even the only person who knew your info was a wrong one, i've receievd phonecalls asking me if i have that TV Malawi, i said no. Maybe one way or the other they were thinking they were the one having the problem, so they dont have the gut to say you are wrong.

The one you said on Pas10 ku, that i cant say cos i dont have mytv installed at my home, but nss7 i can argue that till the end. ok?

Whether you joined issues with me or not, i dont give a damn, you are an expert on your own territory so am i in mine territory.

But the advice i will give is that desist from giving out wrong info on this forum and dont spoil the good works you meet here, i dont give info am not sure of.

@ NSS7 viewers,

Do you guys all watched the West Ham vs Chelsea match yesterday?

Then brace up for another live premiership match coming up any moment from now,

Liverpool vs Bolton at 14:30hrs on RDV.

Catch ya later

@enitan

I think you should go easy on bodejohn; I don't think he was trying to mislead; it is very possible that TV Malawi did come up on NSS7; it could have been a 'feed' or a temporary spillover of the footprint or something.

@bodejohn, what to do is give the frequency, polarity, symbol rate and any further info of any station that you receive and the date and time.

@both and @ all; let's end any negativity; remember this is a shared hobby and we should be cooperative.

cool

@ enigma & emi ikesih,

thanks for that, am just a guy that speaks my mind. This minute i might be hot and the next cold as ice.

@ bodejohn,

How body na? abi u still dey vex? u just have to accept me the way i am, ok?

the Bolton/L'pool match was very ok, i watched that on RDV some hours ago.

I got some satellites to install this week, If you've got problems like after-sales maintenance and installation, feel free to contact me on 08055458324 or 08067055323, i will be expecting your calls.
Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by bodejohn(m): 1:37pm On Mar 03, 2008
I had a first thought of leaving the forum after uploading the details of the channel because i do not like people who talk and speak before thinking. That i have just 35 posts does not mean i am a kid in Fta. Like i have said earlier i will not join issues with people that i know to be very controversial and self centered.
But to see the responses of two people that i respect i will change my mind.
I hate when i am been called a liar as i also try not to hurt people's feelings.
For the Thomases in the house these are the details of the channel
Satellite: Nss 7 @ 22W
Frequency: 11.672Ghz
Symbol rate: 2.790Ms/s
Vpid: 4194
Apid: 4195
Ppid: 4194
Cas: Free
Signal strenght is 60%
I tracked it with a 90cm dish.

Another channel is up on Pas 10, it is Called My channel, i do not have all the details now but it is on the view africa network, that makes it another religious channel.

Thanks Enigma you are my man.

u guys got to take things easy here,in this world of satellite nobody knows it all.cos somebody like me do install dish everyday both c and ku and i ve not had any misunderstanding with anybody.enitan i think wot u should ve done is to ask bodejohn if he still receive the signal to the moment, remember the issue of hitv in west nobody called the guy a liar.this things re aired they can mislead sometime.just like getting nss7c arab bonquet signal in amos ku band frequency.

@ salam
i think the best position for 1.8m c band is still intelsat 906 @ 64.2 degrees combinned with intelsat 7c @ 68.5 degrees.two c band lnb position in one position.
N.B.i should ve choose intelsat 902 @ 64 degrees for u but 1.8m dish cannot get sabc 1,2&3 in ph cos the signal is very low and sabc is one of the best channels in fta.
for further assistance u can always call me on 08037058564.
@all
i will still cme up with satellite that can be combined together in c band in case u cant afford a jack an positioner.
like u can get cnn with ait when two c band lnb is combined in west and so many others which i ll list up latter.

u can get cnn,mbc uae in any part of naija with 2.4m dish but with analogue receiver.

Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by dvbguy: 4:04pm On Mar 03, 2008
nice to have a forum on this topic. i am from GH and i think the skies over the west african coastline are pretty dry and neglected when it comes to FTA (compared to other places eg europe cheesy). the one location u can pitch up a lot of this FTA stuff is on the C-Band Pas 7,10 but but then again u must understand hindi or one of 'em dialects to enjoy those channels.

u could turn to the ku-band on the same satellite and the absolutely not too free ETV is your option. I can't comment on Intelsat 902 at 62e since i haven't had any success with my 1.8m system. NSS 7 is no less interesting to me just as were my french lessons back in those days.

and the free stuff on Eutelsat W4 is wack cheesy. so i am planning, should i say saving to buy a bigger dish (or build one undecided, my desire for the free is so deep embarassed)

my current equipment are a dvb pci card for use with my pc, some stb's i have all scattered in my room.

but seriously if i don't get some funds soon to build 'em big dish, i might look into the options i have with my dvbcard on the not too free channels we have radiating us. i am like dude if i don't pay for the air that i breath now, why should i pay to see whats in the skies, it is already free anyway elsewhere.

show us some skillz guys could we move from FTA to some like keys, !

Thank u pitodenz for the response. I would hv love to use 2.4 m dish, but i have space limitation in my compound. For the propose 1.8 m dish, I intend to combine 2 c-band lnb with 1 Ku lnb. Is there any bird(s) in the west which this combination could be fully utilized. This is taking into account your practical experience in PH.

Hi Everyone,

pleasee i use My TV and with 2 dishes. Recently, Nollywood repositioned itself and I have since lost that channel. So, I had the channels rescanned. Now I just discovered that I have so many channels on my decoder more than MyTV has. I am able to watch some. Alas, there are many more I cannot watch.

Please can anyone help.

Thank you.

if cnn is wot u re looking for in west with ur 1.8m dish i dont think u can get any good channel combination.u can only get either cnn with Ait or cnn with voa and nta i sugget u move to east where u use pulse for ur news channels and eatv for ur entertainment cos pulse hook up to all world news channels daily.i refer u position ur dish to 62 and 68.5 degree u can use ku for 68.5 ku.in general u re gonna use 2 c band lnb one without di-electric and one ku lnb.if u cant do it dont hesitate to call me for assistance but if i should come in person to do it for u remember that i will charge u some fee.

for those of us who re using dstv smart card with strong receiver, plz dont make the mistake of using ur card with dstv decoder now cos dstv is marrying their smartcard with their decoders.any card married to a particular decoder will not open in any other decoder even strong.though i heard that with strong latest software it can still work on it even when married to any decoder but i ve not confirm it yet,so dont give out ur dstv smartcards.

those of us in south who has bigger dish like 2.4m pan dish and above should try some other satellites position which beam re nearer than nilesat if they re having problem with nilesat. see lyngsat

It is true, my dstv card cannot work with my strong decoder 4650, but when i upgraded the software of the 4653x, it works with the DSTV cards.

Pitodenz, thank you for the response. I'll definitely contact u if there is a need for it. Your academic and practical contribution is highly appreciated. Meanwhile, are u saying that possibility of getting Nilesat 101 & 102 with 1.8 m dish is minimal in PH?

hi,watch the uefa champions league live on rts and monitior what's happening in the u.s election on msnbc on eutelsat w3,7 degrees east.
note u need a 90cm dish and track the signal with a tv set in front of u.the dish faces up to the sky.the following freq. have it's beam for africa[111o5H3380,11190H3210,12562H30000,AND12728H30000.]use 12728h30000 to track for the signal.

Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by pitodenz(m): 2:02pm On Mar 06, 2008
@ salam
getting nilesat in ph is gonna require a very massive dish like 3.2m dish pan or fiber .net dish cannot give u nilesat no matter how big it is.

@ all
plz anyone tracking c band should not use strong x model go for 4640-4652 cos c band signal most time dosnt come immediately and x model signal bar dosnt move untill u re there unlike 4650 which moves the signal bar when u re nearly there.practically when tracking on c band u need to see the signal movement so that u know when to adjust lnb or the dish position, most times for those who re using old model strong on c band u ll notice signal movement in some frequency, some of them if track or adjust well will turn green but x model can never show u a nearby signal.so for best result use the old model strong receiver.x model advantage is only two things (1) lnb connection (2) blind scan.but for tracking signal it will always give wrong information like signal percentage.though is still okay for ku band tracking excluding nilesat and other distance ku band signals.

I am poised to install my satellite system by the middle of next week and cconsidering the channel offerings i think the Intelsat 7/10 at 68.5E (Same as MyTV) Bird will be my best bet.

Now my question is this. Etv is on the above bird and while it is technically not a free channel but with comments i have seen on this forum it seems to me like it can be hacked.

Thus can someone here put me thorugh on how to get it done.

I dey wait My Learned Friends
Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by twinstaiye(m): 8:40am On Mar 07, 2008
If you have read this forum thoroughly, you will noticed that we have said this times without number. No one hacked etv, but strong decoder is seem powerful enough to unscrambled the channel. All you need do is press 6969 twice from your remote control.
