We d students of unilag strngly protest d change of unilag to mau, if dis is among d new developments in the thinkin faculty of Jonathan..i say that he shal surely have no Goodluck in this. Enough of political meddling into educational system. ONLY God knws what he stands to gain in this, but he shud cary his biznes venture to a wiling customer - unversity of lagos isnt buying his new name!
Perhaps he dreamt it up over9te, perhaps d nightmare of his wife promtd him to changing Unilag's name, perhaps it is one of dices needed for political game- but here ends our PATIENCE with him: if he has realized the importance of changing names, I beg of him nt to change Unilag's name, we ar happy and satisfied with our name! If there is a name to change, it's Goodluck! It has brought us no luck so far and mayb Badluck wil work for him and Whateva hidden Agenda Gej has on his desk should b fowarded to anoda angle. We want no part of it! We ar Akokites, Great Unilag students

Plutus: I am nt a student of Lag bt i tink d change is nt just palatable. I mean unilag is a very strong name, it dozn't dserve 2 b changed for any reason at all. Besides, a poly has been named after dis man already.
bt what is wrong wt that name? Why can't u pple give this man a bl-ding space 4 once n allow 2 do his work.

GNBohr: All these blackberry students should better face their studies. When did naming and renaming of schools become the prerogative of students. Imagine how some posters think, UNILAG is swagzz, is a brand, sounds international and all those rubish talk. Is that the problem of UNILAG and other universities in the country. What do you expect when they have turned an academic environment into a social entertainment complex. Is this the first time such renaming happened? Students of this generation have lost focus and lack priorities. In a community where there is inadequate facilities, gross underfunding, lack of power, water, teaching aids, research grants, project sponsorships and schorlarships, what the students protest about is what doenst add value to their degrees and lives. I weep for Nigerian youths for having lost the intellectual capacity to intelligently discourse issues, analyse situations, draw deductions, make projections, profer solutions and take actions that can bring positive change and add meanings to their lives. It is a shame they are even on the street at all when they sat back while their future is being eaten away by the political class. In my generation, students led protest against repressive govt policies and actions. Anti SAP riots was a glorious show of peoples power orchestrated by NANS. Not any more, what we have now is cultism, ashawoism, commercialisationism, showbizism. Student power is dead and with it peoples power .

Fair enough, but that doesn't give the President the right to make the change. A stupid name change I must add. This country has bigger fish to fry and Jonathan lacks the common sense to approach issues. Nigerians are watching. Come 2015 he would not be in Aso Rock.

what do the students mean? Unilag isnt good enough for the father of nigeria's democracy? I will say, they are just being foolish, SUG is dead. Instead of organising protest against the increase of petroleum products nd electricity tariff or high corruption rate in nigeria and demand 4 gud leadership, they wasting their time. I sorry.

Did you read the post at all?
Mr werepe, first of all, there is already a Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. Why give the same name to a university.
Secondly, is Abiola from Lagos? Or did he contribute anything to the development of the school before he died? For your info young man, a school and a stadium (both in his state) have already been named after him. It's of no use naming another school after the same man. Please reason and be logical.Don't just come online to support every move GEJ makes, the world has gone past that level.Think and get facts before you post!!!

and what u gonna do abt it. Sorry u dnt knw ur bearing as a youth. Protest 4 better learning facilities, structures and system, not name. U jst dnt like the name becos of d childish swag in unilag. I bet u,if its an eastern university was changed to ojuvwu's name, the igbos will be celebrating. Here u are rejecting, ur own brother that fought and paid with his 4 nigeria's democracy. I wonder what mko will be thinking of his kinsmen rejecting him.

Who is fool who, everybody know PDP as a people don't appreciate MKO, they never recognised June 12 as anything, even when all their governors had their time in office they never recognise Abiola.

If you don't believe in June 12, then you never liked Abiola; at least we remember sometimes in the past when the argument of which day should be picked as Democracy Day, the PDP guys kicked against it, so why the sudden change. GEJ should change the Democracy Day to June 12 and earn some respect.

Abiola never attended Unilag and most of his kids never did, GEJ himself never and many of those who are currently deceiving him, its not about the name but the brand, people don't get it, it takes yes to build a brand, even if you name school to Obama University it still doesn't add value.

Simply upgrade MA poly to a University and pump in funds to improve the quality of everything, then people will surely respect GEJ and he will still achieve the same thing he was trying to achieve.

At all these MALUs protesting and occupying lagos because of the new name of your school MALU, u better be careful or Gej will worsen your supposed predicament by introducing school uniform to your school and MALU will be the first and probably the only university in nigeria whose students wear uniform.
