No dear, there were no Nigerian politicians then. The year was 1914. The amalgamation was done for economic reasons. Northern Nigeria Protectorate had a budget deficit and the colonial administration wanted to use the budget surpluses in Southern Nigeria to offset this.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Southern Nigeria and Nothern Nigeria have very little in common. That amalgamation was a monumental error.

We all know that Ambode's present travails are politically motivated but the real question is; "was he involved in any financial misdemeanour during his tenure?" If yes, he should honour the invitation, state his case and expose others. He has previously served as Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance and Accountant General of Lagos State so he is privy to numerous financial transactions and is in the best position to expose everyone involved in graft.
