manny4life:
We're here arguing about devaluation which in my opinion isn't the problem, our economy is gravely affected because we lack inward fiscal directives. This is as a result of our political and ethnic differences, if different states are allowed to function on their own without handouts from Abuja, we wouldn't be asking ourselves what can we export. Nigeria is richly blessed in all sorts of human resource, financial capital, mineral resources, raw materials and what not which we can't even develop let alone export, and we're talking about devaluation. Until we change our process from a consuming to a producing nation, IMO, devaluation is NOT the solution at this point. Let's talk about devaluation when we get it right first.
Let buhari champion constitutional review, let him champion resource control and the decentralization of power. Give Nigeria ten years after that and see how it would blossom to a world economic giant.

Whatever buhari is doing now is a cosmetic effort to groom Nigeria, Nigeria has corruption problems but I think they have more structural problems than corruption.

Sometimes I wonder why these politicians would never think towards there. The federal government would believe that doing these would cede power to the states which they would not want to

I don't support buharis style of leadership Buh I think I support his stance on devaluation. Devaluing wouldn't help matters or make things better than it seems.

from the moment you start receiving bailouts from these stupid European nations, you are doomed forever ask Greece.

Comparing nigeria with russia is not only stupid but height of foolishness. What do we export to earn the $ apart from crude oil? Our banking sector are on the brink of collapse and it seem devaluation which will leave them with lots of almost worthless # then what next if not borrowing from IMF and her partners. Believe me the worst has already happened and we survived. No power, no fuel, high inflation what else are we expecting to see. Many states have problem paying salaries with the current minimum wage now imagine what will happen when we devalue and NLC seeks more salary. Strike action will cripple what remains of the economy. How then can we pay for the loans that IMF and her partners will give us
simply put we continue with the status quo, I don't trust the west, they are crooks, many nations of the world that are challenging em economically ignored western advice and are doing well on the world stage, look at Iran, China, Russia and Libya under gadaffi

I support Adaure4ever on the need to scrap NYSC, tho am a beneficiary of NYSC Buh its high time we scrap this scheme and project one that would benefit the average Nigerian.

I suggest paying off graduates 300,000 naira after learning entrepreneurship skills and keep them under the watch of a ministry that would ensure proper utilization of the funds for business. By this way we build and support SME's( which remain the bedrock of suscessful and developed nations).

More than 200,000 graduates are churned out annually who at the end not up to 5% get jobs. these graduates are not trained to create jobs, Buh to look for one.

Alright I agree with you, remember this private investors are business men who invest to make profits. have you for once asked why they never took Nigeria serious ? because we are operating a subsidy regime, no serious investor would take investing in Nigerian downstream attractive, the reason the past government wanted to remove subsidy. we play politics with our future in Nigeria

Sorry sir, our economy will continue to dance for a long time unless crude oil prices rise. It's not rocket science, we are an import dependent country with less dollar to meet up with our purchases. I'm pretty sure you may be printing more bills to meet up with national recurrent debt as well. With these two, inflation is bound to happen.

Simple things that can help - strengthen infrastructure! Remove roadblocks in our regulations! Build a formidable road network , we have all materials needed. Decentralize electricity production and distribution, build multiple micro turbines in flow stations where you flare gases, small rivers, allow easy contribution from private investors. Encourage building at least five Modular refineries in each state. Support ingenuity of Igbos, make a very conducive environment for them to manufacture and trade easily. They are your only hope of breaking free from oil dependence!!!
the area you talked about decentralization of power got me, sometimes I ask ma self whether we have leaders really that can think outside the box. We are in Nigeria suffering fuel crisis when we can develop modular refineries on a short term within six months and avert fuel crises we have been suffering for ages.

No way buhari nor his minsters can think towards there. Mark ma words if the government in the centre can champion resource control, decentralization of power, believe you me in 10 years Nigeria would be a better place

it was these same idiots that were shouting prior before the elections that with falling oil prices that pump price should be reduced. (at that time PMS was 97 and oil per barrel was around 60) Gej reduced the pump price to 87 and the APc clowns berated the government for just removing 10 naira.

Now we have oil price at about 30 something dollar per barrel about half the price of what it used to be when Gej reduced the pump price they berated, the best they could do is to reduce the price by only 30k.

Common sense should have it that if price was 87 when barrel was hovering around 60 dollars, now that barrel is hovering around 30 then pump price should be around 44 naira or so. that's common sense, Buh the clowns in government would make Nigerians pay for sins they've committed.

I hope the review is not going to be an upward review.

Education › Re: Why You Should School In The North This 2016/2017 Session by 9japrof(op): 11:38am On Mar 30, 2016
cheaper standard of living : Ask any unbiased southerner who lives down north and he is going to tell you that to survive is very easier in the north than in the south, like the town i live now, I still bike for as low as 20 naira, get food stuffs as cheap as whatever.
The prices of food items (except those gotten from the south) is cheap since they are majorly farmed and produced down here. Housing is cheap ( I pay seventy grand for a well tiled room and parlour self contain that is within a polytechnic enviroment) bills from the government is low e.g NEPA. Sometimes I think the government cheats southerners by making them pay more in tarriffs than what their counterparts down north pay.
In summary life is cheap in the north.

Reduced corrupt practices: Believe you me there is reduced corrupt practices in the north than down south. I schooled in one of the state polytechnics in the east and we paid through our nose for virtually everything. The lecturers sold their textbooks( copied from the internet) and their handouts for astronomical prices and mandated us to buy them if we were to pass. There are fees demanded from students by both teaching and non teaching staffs for services rendered. Some can attest to the fact that people sometimes pay hundreds of thousands to get admission into some of these premium universities in the south and still get f**cked up and their money gone.
Buh down north, it ain't the same, I don't exonerate the fact that corruption ain't in virtually every sector of Nigeria but the nefarious ways that lecturers collect and rip their students off ain't popular down here. Any body trying that shii must really have a serious backbone or you're gone for good. No body plays those kinda games here else these mallams report you to their brothers.

Cultism: cultism is reduced here, refresh your mind and reflect over the years how many violent cult clashes have you heard emanate from the north over the years. The truth is that cultism is greatly reduced and cases of people coerced into cultism is negligible unlike in the south where cultism are on rampage in majority of our institution raping, maiming and killing their victims
