pansophist: I don't do all of that, and my life is far more peaceful and fulfilled. Doesn't mean I do not have the temptation, but its all about self-discipline. It's also good to have a purpose, as you can't live life well without it. When you look forward to the next day to thrive, it becomes easier not to be tempted by hedonism. An idle man is a devil workshop.
When you're idle and just live life like it comes, cheap sex, drinking, smoking, clubbing, partying, BBN and all kinds of things that weakens your soul takes over. And the only way to fight it is to start doing something so great, so above you that you're willing to sacrifice everything for the actualisation of it.
Those mad scientist that never married were able to go long without sex because they could picture the result of their work, which makes it easier to sacrifice everything. Comfort is for the feminine, that's where it thrives, but not for for the masculine. If you're not useful to yourself and society, you'll hardly be truly fulfilled, and the price is when you get old. Life becomes even more unbearable then. Very thoughtful response. |

Allah is nothing but an ancestor of Arabs, who calls himself God in the Qur'an, and he was deified by his descendants in Saudi and the Arab world.
In the same vein, Yahweh is an ancestor of the Israelites who claims the title of God in the Bible and was deified by his descendants in Europe.
Olohun is an ancestor of the Yorubas that people deified as God and worship.
Other major gods in Nigeria are Osanobua, Chineke (Chukwu) that ignorant people call Jehovah or Allah.
Each culture around the world has their own gods, who are mainly their ancestors that did something great in the past and were deified as God.
Only a fool that doesn't know his history would worship the ancestors of other people and abandon his traditions.
By worshiping Allah or Jehovah, a person becomes a slave of foreign lands and abhors his culture and traditions.
That's why a typical Nigerian will rather give their child a foreign name than a native one.
That's one major problem with Africans and Nigerians, and why the continent isn't making much progress compared with Europe and Asia (Africans' slavemasters).
Worshipping a god/God brings about mental slavery, among many other issues, and it's even worse to worship foreign (imported) gods and abandon your native gods.
Doing so kills a people since they'd lose their identity (culture and language) and become slaves (sheep). |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Proposal To Change The Word Olorun (God) by A001: 6:23pm On Aug 09, 2021 |
In the first place, I don't know where you got the historical details that state Olohun is the same entity as Allah or Jehovah.
FYI, Olohun is native to Yorubaland, just like Allah (from Arabia) and Yahweh or Jehovah (from Israel) are distinct entities.
In other words, historically, Olohun is different from Allah; Olohun is different from Jehovah; and Allah is different from Jehovah.
There's so much ignorance exhibited by religious people.
Muslims worship Allah, the imported moongod from Saudi, just like Christians worship Jehovah, another imported deity from Europe.
The Yorubas (traditionalists) worship Olohun, native to Yorubaland.
Get a good history book of Yorubas written by natives of the land themselves, and educate yourself.
Do not merely read the false, doctored histories in the so-called "holy" books. |

Amoto94: The usual strawman argument when you realized that all the lies you have been spewing aren't backed up by irrefutable evidence(s). If you want to know about the history of Islam during the era of the Prophet you go to the people who studied him up close and personal through written works and oral tradition not through the lens of orientalists who were out to demonize and divert attention away from his true teachings. Much of what you will learn from the orientalists aren't contextualize with regards to events of that time. Even a quack doctor have access to materials which he used to disguise his ignorance and arrogance when confronted with facts and reason as to why he is in the wrong. Bring out your materials and I promise to refute them one by one In Sha Allah. Your type are the ones who spend time on campus engaging in religious debates when you're not qualified to do so and a little exposure to doubts threw you off balance and ever since you've never remained the same. I no get time to read this your long epistle. This is such a weak rebuttal. The historical details of Muhammad and Islam are well narrated in Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim (the 2 highest authorities in Islam after Qur'an) and you want to challenge those? Besides, there are many materials on the subject written by Salafs and Tab'ieen that explain the life and time of Muhammad. You don't know Muhammad more than those people or more than the Sahabah (companions) that spent time with the prophet and compiled his sayings and deeds (Sunnah) in different haadith. |

Amoto94: You are lying about BH, AQ and other terrorist groups following the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad and you know it, you're only being mischievous by trying to deceive and misinform unsuspecting people about what Islam is as practised by him and what "Khawarij" like AQ, BH, Daesh and other than them are upon.
There are tons of materials both online and offline by reputable Muslim scholars refuting and clarifying the ideology of groups with extremists views some scholars even said that they have exited the fold of Islam citing narrations and verses of the Quran to support their verdict but you choose to embark on a misinformation campaign and wallowing in the murky waters of ignorance, arrogance and blatant disregard of sincerity. For instance the late Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia in the person of Shaykh AbdulAzeez bin Baz told the late Bin Laden to fear Allah in 1993 when he bombed Riyadh, one of the scholars of Yemen in the person of Shaykh Muqbil told Bin Laden off when he came to entice him back then. In Nigeria Shaykh Albani of Zaria and Shaykh Jafar of Kano were both killed by BH members when they refuted the group, even Pantami the present Minister of Communication was amongst the first scholars to refute BH in the very beginning during a debate with Muhammed Yusuf. I can go on and on but I will stop and direct onlookers to this website: http://www.islamagainstextremism.com Lols, you're funny. I should read "materials written by Islamic scholars" to get an objective assessment of the roots of terrorism? What did you expect an Islamic scholar to say about Muhammad? It's like you telling me to get an objective analysis of Hitler's reign from Morell (his doctor) or other staunch members of the Nazi party. Can one learn anything like the truth from such people? Due to my background, I have access to more than enough materials (both in Arabic and English) on the histories of Muhammad and Islam and don't need to read the one-sided fatwas (verdicts) or materials an Islamic scholar produces. Many people around the world that know the history of Muhammed and Islam know the founder of Islamist terrorism. |

raumdeuter: When animal killing becomes a crime and they are called Savages, Your children will be called descendants of savages and probably be ostracized in the society like descendants of slave owners, war criminals, pedophiles who were acting within the laws of their time I'm not aware of anytime in the modern age that the descendants of slave-owners like Tinubu or of some pedophile that created a religion have ever been ostracized in the society. But they've been called descendants of savages, pedophile, etc. mainly due to the fact the so-called descendants see/saw nothing wrong in modern times in what their ancestors did in the olden days, even though their (ancestors') act wasn't unlawful then. And those descendants/advocates still toe the same path as their ancestors, even in modern times. Most people won't criticize someone like Muhammad today because he also had his good attributes, and even some of his bad acts weren't unlawful globally in his time, but they'd berate him for one reason. And that's, terrorists like BH, Al-Qaeda and their ilks are following the footsteps of the "noble" prophet, even in this day and age when such acts are now condemned. Thus, the person that laid the foundation for Islamist terrorism, extremism plaguing different parts of the world today has to take a substantial part of the blame for his invention. |

Invading land, colonizing and killing original owners was how many civilizatons came to. If you trace your towns history you won't be surprised to find out that they probably migrated from somewhere far, fought and killed people on their way. Those days it was a survival of the fittest
Even in the Bible, the Israelites were ordered to conquer lands, kill people, rapee their women, Do you recall one King that did not kill everyone as commanded? What happened to him?
There are people who have paid house helps in Nigeria imported to Lagos from Togo, Calabar Benue etc in the next 200yrs they will be shamed to say my grandparents ever did it but today it's acceptable
Regarding slavery pedophilia and Colonialism, who made it bad? Is it not the law? Most victims of colonialism have also colonized some places in the past until a superior power colonized them. E.g Probably Benin colonized Auchi, 20yrs later England colonized Benin. You think Benin people who rejoiced at colonizing a smaller town will feel bad, even if they did will that feeling be valid?
Most girls who were married off before age 18 were happy, in those days if you are 20 and cannot get a husband you probably feel terrible and cry yourself to sleep. You will jump at the first 50yr old to ask you for marriage Even in modern times, many people still see nothing wrong in those things you said were considered good before, which enlightenment has now made many people see them as barbaric. A typical Muslim sees Muhammad as the "best of mankind", according to the Qur'an. To such a person — and there are millions of them all over the world — Muhammad never did anything wrong by practicing child marriage, whether in the standards of modern or old times. As regards colonialism, if the Old Benin kingdom had colonized other places in old times, does that make it right for the British to colonize them later on? If GB looted the resources of their colonies in Nigeria in old times, does that make it right for perpetrators of cyber crimes ("yahoo-yahoo" ) to steal from hard-working Britons, who weren't alive when their ancestors invaded and looted various areas in pre-independent Nigeria? Does that make colonialism, looting, "yahoo-yahoo" right, whether in old or modern times? |

raumdeuter: This is because you cannot use the standard of the society 1000yrs ago to judge the society today, Same way in 1000yrs time, most of what we did today will be viewed as barbaric and insane to the generation then
What happened in the bible, Koran was simply a reflection of life in those times and you cannot live that way anymore
Most of our great grandfather probably married a woman under 18yrs today he would be a paedophile (In 200yrs time age of consent might even be 25yrs so everyone who slept with girls under 25 qualify to be paedophiles)
Most of our ancestors had slaves because slavery was acceptable in those times,
In some cultures you have to fight ill someone and bring his head to be the main man, In some places in Nigeria to qualify for a wife you have to be flogged. Imagine how that would be viewed in the future
We are not better people than those who lived that times, we only came later just like those who will come in 200yrs time will criticize almost everything we did and thought was normal today I understand you perfectly. As time progresses, as one age ends and a new one begins, what humans see as right and wrong changes and continues to change. In spite of this, there were still some people that criticized things like colonialism, looting of colonies' resources, slavery, slave-trading, child marriage in the olden days. Whether it's modern or primitive times, some things would always be wrong on this planet, while others may be seen as wrong hundreds of years ago but may now be considered right. It would always be wrong to invade a land, colonize the owners and take over their land, loot their resources, and kill the aborigines. Do you think the aborigines in the land now called the US or those in Australia saw their British colonial masters as good people? You know the native Indians of America and the Maori people of Australia (New Zealand specifically) were blacks. Till today, the descendants of these people still suffer from the heinous crimes their colonial masters committed against their ancestors. I read their magazines and books occasionally, and you can see they've still not forgiven the colonial masters. Colonialism, slave-trade, pedophilia and the likes were considered evil by the victims of these vices in olden days, just as they're in modern times. |

Amoto94: I will like to argue the case of Hisbah as regards to circulating the pictures, it's against the teachings of Islam to be spreading sinful acts of individuals regardless of their status in the society; this is to prevent others from imitating such and to protect the person's honour Also, as per why the organization chose to act, the act was carried out in Abuja while they're based in Kano, so they obviously lack jurisdictional powers to prevent it even if they had wanted to. Sincere people know there are many teachings in Qur'an that only look good in theory, on the surface. But when one checks how the founder of Islam, Muhammad, practised these teachings in his Sunnah (deeds), one is shocked to see how inhumane and barbaric Islam, when practised the way Muhammed did (as Qur'an commands), looks. In fact, no sane person can ever practice Islam like Muhammad did. If they did, they would be tried for crimes against humanity. Theory is starkly different from praxis (practice). And religious extremism/fanaticism is worse than cancer. |

One of such things is non-relgiois/freethinkers making it as a point of duty to always question the intelligence of religious folk, calling them fools and not allowing them to believe in whatever they wish to. When you hear some silly remarks some religious people make, you have to call a spade a spade. That's the right thing to do. BlueRayDick: While most of what Reno said might be true, I really don't think it's needed at this time.
I mean saying what Roman Catholics did some 100's of years ago is worse than what Boko Haram is doing In Nigeria today is somehow......It's like justifying the barbaric killing of people in this present civilized world where such things are illegal and punishable under criminal law.
During those Era he was referring to, the church and the government was almost one and same; they dictate what is right and what is not in the areas they rule over. We are in the 21st century today, there are laws protecting people's rights, freedom of association, freedom of religion and so many human rights. What Boko Haram is doing today is called terrorism; we are in a civilized world Today and not in the stone age.
Reno saying Southern Christians are the one calling Boko Haram terrorists is not a very bright thing to say. Sometimes I don't know if those guys just like being in the spotlight and they just say some things even when it's not necessary.
This is me not speaking for the church but me not seeing sense in trying to compare things done in an age where there are no proper laws guiding the affairs of men and barbaric things done in a civilized society governed by laws All you said only mainly applies to the developed countries. In Nigeria, there's no freedom of religion. Whether you're a Christian or a Muslim in Nigeria, once you declare it publicly that you're a freethinker, atheist, or agnostic, your safety is at risk. Family, friends will depart from you, and you will lose your job, be victimized in school, business, etc. And if you dare criticize religion publicly, be ready to be lynched, killed or poisoned under the pretext that you're a witch or wizard or you're possessed. That applies to all parts of Nigeria. I have had a first-hand experience of some of these things. In Nigeria and many similar Third-World countries, nothing much has changed when you consider the dark history of Christianity. Nigeria and Africa are still in a dark age. |

As you're looking at your phone's screen and going through this thread, you're applying some of the most important principles of electromagnetics or electrodynamics.
In the beginning (about 5-6 centuries ago), electricity and magnetism were regarded as separate subjects, until Clark Maxwell revolutionized Physics, and indeed the world, by merging the two as one: electromagnetism.
