Muslims are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha today. Also called Sallah, Eid-ul-Adha means "Feast of Sacrifice" or "Festival of Sacrifice" in English.

"Eid-ul-Adha" means "Odun Ebo" in Yoruba as "sacrifice" or "adaahi" (Arabic) means "ebo" in Yoruba, and "odun" means "festival". So, before the Yoruba Muslims call the traditionalists "elebo", know that Yoruba Muslims are "elebo" too, like all other Muslims and Christians.

Yoruba Christians and Muslims refer to those they think practice idolatry/paganism as "elebo".

Those that think critically and know the history of Islam and Christianity are well aware that both of these two Abrahamic religions are rebranded or repackaged paganism.

When you look at Yeshua, the name of one of your prophets in Christianity and Islam, you probably think the ESHU at the center is there mistakenly. Lols.

Muslims call him Isa which is from iESUs or jESUs as the letter 'J' used to be same as 'I' some centuries ago.

Just like today's pastors and alfas seek spiritual power from babalawos (priests of African traditional religion), it's not surprising to learn that the founder of Christianity himself, Yeshua, also did.

The adherents could only be following the footsteps of their master or god.

I watched "Ijakumo" recently with a friend and one of the central characters in the movie, Pastor Jide, reminded me of the historical account of Yeshua.

This came to mind: yESHUa or yESHU or jESU, and it's not really hard to believe that the same man that reportedly learnt philosophy and wisdom in ancient Egypt in the past in Africa also learnt wisdom and magia (called miracles in Abrahamic religions) from Eshu, one of the ancestors of we Yoruba people.

Christians and Muslims are elebo too like the traditionalists as well. Before you demonize our cultures and traditions, think twice and reflect.

It isn't really BAT personally using the 120 car convoy. Na appointees (plus their personal convoy), potential appointees and general ass-lickers making up those 120 cars...even the NSA Ribadu left Abuja to Lagos to welcome BAT...just goes to show you what the government is about.
Judging by their lifestyle, those running the government know all things being equal, Nigeria should be a high-income country. Still, with all the massive looting that has been going on for many years now, they know Nigeria is not, and has never been, poor.

The World Bank calls Nigeria a lower-middle-income country. But I'm to believe some random people on Nairaland that mischievously or ignorantly (or unknowingly) call Nigeria poor?

No.

I find so many holes to poke in your treatise. Were the Vandals, Scythians and Visigoths possessing higher levels of intelligence over the Roman Empire when they toppled that civilization and ushered in the Dark Ages? It’s fallacious to insist that.

It’s not the race with superior intellect that rules, it’s the one with higher degrees of malice and malevolence that bend the will of the conquered. For example, the Chinese invented Gunpowder and it was used in the worship of the gods until Marco Polo and the Europeans weaponized it into cannons, guns and gunpowder. Who possesses the higher levels of intelligence in this case?
Lols, data doesn't care about your emotions and feelings.

I know there are exceptions. That's why I used usually in the post you quoted. 8 out of 10 times, people with higher intelligence will colonize and enslave those with lower intelligence on this planet, not the other way round. At least, among humans. Of course, there are exceptions.

Yes, European colonizers and slavemasters were malevolent and malicious, but they were also innovative, curious, daring, and brave. These last four are some of the traits of high intelligence.

However, I don't support colonizing and enslaving others.

I'd prefer a lion that lives a short, impactful life (impactful in a positive light) to a sheep that lives a long, docile life.

Docility is one of the worse traits a people can have.

I thought you'd show at least one African language in the simple test I gave.

When you start making generalizations like, ”The average black man is x” with no backing empirical data, that’s either unconscious or conscious mirroring of supremacist rhetoric.

I am not blind. Yes, most of Africa is backward (just like any other continent that had to deal with problems such as slavery, fragmentation and forced coalitions) but i take exception to the constant self-denigration.

It’s just like saying, "The average Yoruba man is *insert slur here*”
Lols, you're contradicting yourself in a single post. Self-deception is the worst form of deception.

You said most of Africa is backward and still said it's a generalizing by asserting that" the average black man is less intelligent than the other races".

A continent that has many thinkers won't be mostly backward in the first place and remain so for tens of years.

Then you listed various reasons such as slavery, fragmentation, etc. The first problem you listed depends on the level of intellect of a people or race.

When one group of people invade another people's land, the race with superior intelligence usually wins and enslaves the other.

When studying the dynamics of human behavior and interactions in society, the group with higher brain power (intelligence) will naturally control those with lower intelligence.

It's the natural order of things, at least among humans most times. Europe colonized many parts of Africa. Today, Saudi controls African Muslims using religion as a tool, and Israel controls African Christians using religion.

These African Christians and Muslims form the majority of the African population today.

An objective mind will simply see that the race with more intelligent people lead the world. One doesn't need a soothsayer to tell who the controllers and leaders of planet Earth are.

The data that supports my assertion abounds. I don't need to cite many here. Simply take a random gadget in your house; check the user's manual that came with it written in multiple languages.

Those languages you see that manual written in belong to some of the most intelligent and innovative peoples on this planet in modern times.

That gives a rough picture of what I'm saying. Those races lead the planet while others follow.

Tell me which African languages you see in the manual. Do you see any?

About the other problems you listed, these issues are not really peculiar to Africa. Other continents also have their own natural challenges as well.

It takes intelligence to problem-solve the challenges nature throws at us.

When Africa has more thinkers and lower numbers of religious people, the continent will develop. Growth and development of society don't just drop from heaven.

It's humans that build societies (not a god), and that takes a high level of intelligence and innovation.

No need parroting supremacist rhetoric. Africans have both stupid and absolutely brilliant people in non-discriminate measures.

Personally, i see a visit to Makkah or Jerusalem as being no different to a visit to Miami or Las Vegas. Some are worshiping Allah/Yahweh whilst others worship Cocaina and blond hookers. Everybody get their gods to worship grin

I only have issues when government subsidize the Makkah/Jeru boys and refuse to subsidize hookers and blow
It's reality. There's nothing supremacist about it. The facts and data are there for every discerning mind to see. Africa has stupid people in large numbers as the majority and highly intelligent people in lower numbers as the minority.

Calling Africa a backward continent that contributes next to nothing to the world's development isn't an insult. It's a fact. I don't believe you're in Germany and are yet to realize the world has left Africa behind.

No need to engage in self-deception.

When you don't have what we Yorubas call lakaaye (i.e., you're not of sound intellect), you won't know that the key signs your country will remain backward among the comity of nations in the world in the present and for many years to come are when most of your fellow citizens demonize their ancestors and culture while promoting and celebrating foreign ones, when most of them are religious (and it's worse, if they're adherents of foreign religions), when the majority see nothing wrong in the mental slavery of religion and are glad when they waste billions yearly on scams called pilgrimages to Makkah or Jerusalem.

No be curse, in the next 50 years or more, the country, and the whole African continent will continue to lag behind among the lowest of the low when others lead because most Africans, like the dumb fellow here, simply don't have the level of intelligence required to build and maintain a functional society sustainably in modern times.

It's not really a problem of leadership. It's because there are too many dull heads like this m.oron here. The followers are dumb just like the leaders.

Most are even too dumb to know who their ancestors are, ignorantly calling murderers and pedophiles from Arabia and Israel their ancestors. Foreign people they're not related to in any way. Lols.

You want to develop as a people without being connected to your roots, without being connected to your ancestors. It's simply impossible. Na play you dey play.

When they travel overseas for their yeye pilgrimages, they see how the Arabs and Israelites celebrate their ancestors and forebears.

If you demonize your ancestors and culture, you'll simply remain stagnant in life as a people and wallow among the lowest of the low.

It's only in Africa I get to realize the fact that stupidity has levels. These ones don set a new record in stupidity.

When discussing with them online or offline, once you mention anything pertaining to the local culture, immediately you've become a wizard or devilish person even though you don't engage in their superstitious nonsense.

How then are you any better than them?
Before I started making posts on Nairaland that critique religious beliefs and practices some years ago, I started from my immediate environment offline.

Only few people can have such courage to do this, especially among Muslims.

Whether a freethinker engages people on religious issues offline or online is their choice to make.

The important thing is to share beneficial knowledge with people and not hoard key information that can liberate those who are trapped in the shackles of religion and superstition.

How one chooses to engage religionists is less significant.

I don't know who told you I engage in Sallah celebration. I don't have time for nonsense.

Cool thread. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Russell are some of the greatest Western philosophers and thinkers in history.

As someone who is widely read, OtemAtum's writings dwarf those of all these thinkers. The gap is very wide.

That's over 380 billion naira entering the Saudi economy since the traveling expenses will gulp at least 4 million naira per person.

And what do these Nigerians get in return for spending humongous amounts of money just to visit some shrine? Prayers.

Muslims believe any prayer made in Saudi during hajj gets automatically answered. Lols, we all saw how that played out during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The prayers were useless. Science was the savior.

Saudi sef no dey rely on mere prayers to guard their shrine in Makkah.

When people have a brain but don't use it, they'd be scammed over and over again in the name of religion.

Highly intelligent people know there's nothing called a "holy land". The concept of pilgrimage to a so-called holy land in religions like Islam and Christianity is a mere tactic smarter humans use to dupe their fellow humans who are dumb.

This will always be a subjective question. However, majority of the informed football ecosystem generally regard Barca 2008 - 2011 as the zenith of quality club football of all time simply because they displayed an unprecedented level of technique and domination of opponents never seen before at that level.

On the national team front, Brazil 1970 and Spain 2008 - 2012 are generally considered the greatest.

Who's talking about voting? Most pundits both during interviews and in articles make reference to Barca 2008-2011 as the best ever in club football. It's the general perception in official football circles. You dont need to argue about this for argument sake. There is a reason why when City won this UCL, the benchmark against which they were measured was Barca 11 and not any of the Madrid teams.

Which of the Real Madrid teams can defeat Barca 2008 - 2011 consistently? 1998 - 2002? 2013 - 2018? Or is it 1961 - 66? None among them can.

Real Madrid might be the greatest club of all time on an aggregate level but the best ever single team belongs to the Blaugrana.

God no dey save or help anyone. It's only one's head that can help one or family, friends, and other kind people.

About the accident, when a person dies on earth, their consciousness shifts into another dimension or realm and continues existing in another form.

Death, or the phase transition of consciousness from one realm to the other, looks like a dream.

In any space around us are multiple realms hosted on different bandwidth or range of frequencies.

When one's consciousness is altered by death or other factors, one's consciousness, which operates on a range of frequencies, can get connected via superposition of waves to a frequency bandwidth of another realm and then shift into that realm.

Then, one is said to have fainted or died in this realm.

It's all about waves, energy, and frequency.

What we call time is an illusion created by the brain. Time really doesn't exist. The past, present, and future exist all at once as a block.

Currently, we're in the fragment of time called the present.

The series called "Dark" captures this notion well.
