mandax: Friend, I don't work for Udenwa. Udenwa can't even work against Gov. Okorocha. Rochas Okorocha has been working against himself.
I am for the good of my Imo state. I want a situation where Imo state will not be a state with areas outside the state capital remain with the 19th century infrastructure, while the state capital, Owerri, is provided by govt with 21st century infrastructure and rapid development.
I don't want a disproportionate use of funds that should have been for provision of modern development infrastructure in all of Imo state to be continue to be used by Okorocha govt on Owerri alone. If population bursts in Owerri, the town bursts
These days, the way Rochas Okorocha talks Owerri, Owerri, and Owerri only, in his public speeches, including the last one at Shoprite opening ceremony; (observed the huge and frightful crowd in that Shoprite opening?)
these days, the way Rochas practically lumps nearly all his govt's development infrastructures in Owerri, people now believe that Rochas Okorocha is having a troubling obsession for Owerri.
In fact, Rochas Okorocha breathes, easts and dreams Owerri since he attempted in 2012 to build roads in other areas outside Owerri.
Strange that a governor does not even realize that he is working against himself. Less than 25% of Imo state population live in Okorocha's Owerri. In other words, by dumping nearly all his development infrastructures only in Owerri, Okorocha is satisfying a minority;
and that's why Okorocha attracts the greatest acrimony from Igbos, despite all the modern development infrastructures he provides in Owerri. No Governor in Southeast outside Ngige and Peter Obi has embarked upon the level of rural roads construction done by Okorocha. If Udenwa or Ohakim did 1/10th of what Okorocha has done in the outlying villages, we would have been much better now. Who knew Orlu could ever be a city? Let me tell you one thing you might not know many of the people angry with Rochas is because of Orlu's development. They feel short changed each time they visit Orlu and why shouldn't they? Orlu has been connected to Owerri with a dual carriage way with all the major roads in Orlu dualised and further extended to Akokwa. Orlu and Owerri is almost becoming one city as against Mbaise or Anara which are much closer. |

gartamanta: It is a known fact that there is a big Islamic School and Mosque in Afikpo and for years they have been trying to convert the local Igbos to Muslims. I don't think it is as high as 80% yet but they have made some coverts. I don't know what is wrong with Ebonyi people but I support the choice of anyone to choose their religion. Such an Islamic School is also in Uwani in Enugu but you will never see any Igbo step their foot in there. I think that the four other Igbo States have neglected Ebonyi for a long time and it is time to bring them fully back in the fold. We should not for get that Abakiliki people and present day Ebonyi state were by far the largest producers of food in the old eastern region. They've always had sizeable Muslim population. In Imo there is equally significant Muslim in Oguta LGA. Religion is nothing but a tool for spiritual expression and should be individualistic. We in every religion seek God in our different ways but the objective stays same. |

mandax: @Abagworo,
What do these suggest?
The only road that leads to IMSUTH, Orlu, built by Udenwa government remains non-motorable since Okorocha became governor.
Students of IMSUTH have protested over the road, and even took their protests to Owerri; yet no remedy till today. What does that suggest regarding Rochas' self-declared war against Orlu; apart from his dismantling the existing Orlu sports stadium and refusal to build the Prince Hotel in Orlu, after he started similar Hotel projects in Okigwe and Owerri?
As you confuse small children on NL with your pix/video of the about 4.5km roads dualized by Okorocha government in Orlu, after which he scratched many more and abandoned them, and retired to Owerri, you aren't doing your friend Rochas any good. Okorocha as governor is cultivating lots of trouble with the people of Orlu and Ideato. Not even one government establishment, except secondary schools, exists in the whole of Ideato where Rocha comes from.
The IMSUTH road should have been the first road to be done by Okorocha government if he meant well for Orlu. Amaigbo road - the most used road in Orlu, Okorocha government scratched it for about 400meters and abandoned it. Even the nearby drainage system started by former Gov Ikwechagh, Rochas refused to complete, and floods that also threaten all the way to Ideato have been having a field day here with every slightest rainfall.
After decades the Akokwa-Orlu road was abandoned by the federal government, Udenwa government reconstructed the road.
After that, it faced the second road linking many communities in Ideato and to Orlu through Ugbelle in Ideato, near Rochas home town. Gutters on both sides of the road were built all the way to Ugbelle. Even Ohakim government worked on the road. All that was left was replace the old and completely worn out bridge across Urashi river in Ugbelle, then asphalt. Ohakim left. Rochas government has left the millions of Naira spent so far on the road to wash away, instead of completing the road.
Meanwhile, Okorocha builds ring roads and flyovers, and drainage systems, as well as build new roads where no one lives in Owerri - in anticipation.
In the other 35 states in Nigeria, no governor governs his state as if everyone in the state lives in the state capital, the way Rochas has been governing Imo state since he joined APC. I understand you are working for Udenwa but just accept this simple truth. Arthur Nzeribe attracted NDDC to Orlu and equally attracted the construction of Owerri/Onitsha expressway as well as Owerri/Orlu highway and Ihiala/Anara road. Since you people connived and pushed him off what federal presence has any of his successors brought to Orlu? Abagworo is a factful and truthful man. Please don't give undue credence to the wrong man. Okorocha has now dualised Orlu/Akokwa road with streetlights as well as Orlu/Owerri road (ongoing) with State funds. Udenwa tried his best but it is too little to make mention of when comoared with Okorocha. |

Politics › Osinbajo To Meet With South-East & South-South NASS Members In Owerri by abagoro(op): 6:04pm On Feb 25, 2016 |
OWERRI—The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will headline other eminent guests expected to grace a special reception and citizens interface for all National Assembly leaders and Federal Executive Council members from the South East/South South geopolitical zone in Owerri tomorrow.
The milestone reception and dinner being organised by the development agenda setting, South East/South South Professionals of Nigeria, SESS-PN, with the Executive Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha as host, will have in attendance for the first time in this dispensation, all National
Assembly leaders and Federal Executive Council members from the eleven states of the zone in one unique cross political civic dialogue on ‘their development agenda in our national index.’ In a press statement by the president of the group, Mr Emeka Ugwu-Oju, he said that “the reception is rationally consistent with the group’s deliberate advocacy for good governance for superior service mileage by those in leadership for us in followership towards a greater Nigeria.”
He said: “As our front liners in a challenging era, this is more of our citizens interactive with persons who earned the prized confidences of our President to graciously appoint them, and the august members of the National Assembly to proudly elect them, for our collective interests in the scheme of national governance.
“So having been so rigorously selected, screened, appointed and now settled in their tasks, we believe it’s civic wisdom to say well-done together and possibly hear them tell us how far, in a confidence sharing rapport especially at times like this.”
The reception which will be chaired by former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku will have celebrated Agriculturist, Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo of Songhai Farms in Republic of Benin as guest speaker. The leadership of the National Assembly and the Governors of the eleven states involved are believed to have confirmed their attendance. https://therainbowonline.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Osinbajo-.jpg http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/osinbajo-nass-leaders-anyaoku-for-s-south-s-east-reception-in-owerri/ |

Secondly wether you like it or not Lagos is yorubaland so in the event of division of Nigeria all those Igbo dominated areas will belong to an odua area..nothing like Igbo governing the affairs there as that thought is even laughable.it is like saying sabo ngari area in Kano will not be governed by northerners in the event of a break up..make we no dey deceive ourselves His view smells like average IPOB view. Igbos should just know that wherever they are outside Southeast and Aniocha/Oshimili/Oyigbo/Egbema is not their homeland. |

vayne: Ok,I have been looking for an opportunity for the dollar to pullback a bit so I can make some payments, knowing fully well that the pullback will be temporary since the actual situation is still unclear....saboteurs,article/natural factors,oil..
I read on the front page today how that ngeneukwenu of a boy was brainwashing people to believe all sort of rubbish about the naira/dollar exchanging for #300!!
https://www.nairaland.com/2954172/how-much-dollar-selling-black
With one abagoro testifying how he bought/sold dollar @245/250!! https://www.nairaland.com/2953778/dollar-fallen-250
So I decided to make a $7 dollar payment with my master card to check if the news was true before making a full payment, hoping that in every lie, there was an atom of truth(might probably be charged around 260-280 at worst)and to my jaw breaking shocking suprise,I was charged #398/400 to a dollar =2786.70 !! . Why are these banks charging us exhorbitantly?
Why are these nairaland Opc/APC omonile touts parading fake news at the detriment of others just to make it look like Buhari is working?
Do not try this at home!! You've been duped my friend. How could a bank charge 400 for a Dollar in Nigeria? Is bank now black market? http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/naira-appreciates-further-to-n305/ (Vanguard is a PDP propaganda paper) As at yesterday it dropped to 305 and when I hurriedly went to sell mine today I was only able to sell at 245. |
