You got to be kidding me. That price u stated is the price of 2014 Toyota Camry. So tell me how a 2014 Lexus Rx 350 would cost that. Even a Land cruiser Prado is sold for 9.5-10 million. A 2014 highlander is above 10 million naira. Rx 350 is a luxury SUV and the price of a new one is between 10-13 million depending on the trim.

Or maybe u just checked online and saw the base price to be $40,000. By the time u add shipping and clearing the price will skyrocket .

Very funny. Where did u see a 2005 Camry v6 with 180km/hr as max speed? Even an i4 corolla has up to 220km/hr. Are u sure u are not misquoting MPH as km/hr?

I wonder what the confusion is. Suv's, trucks and buses have high rollover rate. So manufacturers limit their speed. A sedan with a 3.5L v6 will outrun an SUV with the same engine. You can't expect a Toyota sienna to outrun an i4 Honda accord. The sienna is taller and heavier. With the exception of few SUV 's like range rover sport, Porsche cayenne, Audi q7 etc that can go beyond 220km/hr, u can hardly see a normal SUV that can go that fast.

I have driven a Honda CR-V before.

The vehicle has a high rollover risk. Indeed there is such a notice in the vehicle. And there is a warning to avoid sudden manoeuvres.

Indeed vehicles like Toyota Prado have the same problem and that is why I really don't like such vehicles. I have swerved at high speeds in wide roads in other types of vehicles (lower vehicles) to avoid such incidents and potholes without losing control or tumbling, I'd never try that in a CR-V or Prado and the like.

My brother, let's just thank God for the op's life. This is not a Honda or Toyota thing. All SUV's and crossovers have high rollover rate. In fact all tall vehicles have a high rollover rate and it is clearly written inside the vehicles. We have seen BMW x6 and g wagons rollover .

Any car will rollover even sedans and sports cars. It depends on the driver, speed, center of gravity and angle.

bimbor: I drove from Ibadan to Kaduna with just one full tank of fuel with my Toyota Canmry 2008 XLE I got through Nairaland. Before while I was using 2007 Honda Accord I used to cover the same distance with 2 Full tanks.
I also use Semi-Synthetic Oil Milemaster 5w-20 in the engine. No car is as fuel efficient as Toyota.

Bros, ur 2007 Honda accord had issues. Mpg on 2007 Camry and accord are basically the same for the i4 or the accord is slightly better.

@op, why not buy the xle model. The se model will give u a harsh ride due to its suspension . Nigerian roads are terrible for sport tuned suspensions.

You can also down shift on auto. Just hit the gas pedal hard and activate the kickdown and zooom, u are gone.

People will not stop amazing me. How is the 1999 Sienna stronger than the 2002 model when they are basically the same cars, no difference whatsoever in chasis and parts. The 2002 even has advantage as it produces 210HP vs 194Hp in 1999 model and slightly better city MPG. Also 2002 has optional JBL premium audio system, heated power side mirrors, roof rack, six way power drive seats and homelink overhead console. If u ask me it is a slight upgrade from 1999 model, plus u are likely to get a lower mileage 2002 model as it is 3 years younger. So in what way is the 1999 model better?

Siena: There's absolutely nothing wrong with automatics. I personally prefer manual, though I rock both. Some bigger cars are best with auto though.

With regards to manuals being faster than autos, it's not an old myth. It's very true, unless you're referring to newer twin-clutch / DSG / SMG / Powershift automatics that are fitted to later high-end cars

Yea, bigger cars require auto. I can't imagine a full size luxury sedan like Mercedes Benz s class fitted with manual tranny, makes absolutely no sense. Or a manual tranny range rover LR4 or Lexus LX570.

Yes traditionally manuals are faster but the gap has been greatly closed in newer cars especially performance cars.

Which is cheaper and more reasonable; buying an old car and upgrading the engine or buying a newer car and upgrading the engine? Let's say a 1995 Toyota Tacoma vs 2008 Tacoma. would u buy a 1995 tacoma with 2.7L I4 and upgrade it to V6 or or buy a 2008 model with 2.7L I4 and upgrade to V6? I think a reasonable person would rather buy a 2008 V6 or 1995 I4 and upgrade the engine to V6. Your thoughts.

Abeg Lomomike, pls can u kindly give ur honest opinion on this. Let's assume u want a Toyota Tacoma, which one is easier and more practical? Buying a cheaper old 1998 model with 2.7L I4 with 150HP, restore it and transplant a 4.0L V6 with 236 Hp.... Or would u rather buy a more expensive 2008 model with 2.7L I4 and 159HP and transplant a 4.0L V6 with 236Hp. Which one is more feasible? I can bet ur options would be to rather buy an older model and do the transplant, or buy a newer model with V6 without doing any transplant.

Or would u buy a 2006 model Lexus RX330 with 223 Hp only to transplant with a Lexus 3.5L with 270HP. I bet u won't go through all that just to gain an additional 47HP. If I own a newer model Lexus RX330 and want more HP, I would rather sell it and a little money to buy an RX350. And if I fel my RX350 is not powerful enough, I'll sell it and get a GX470. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Tell me how you're going to get 21 horsepower from any old car without touching a tool.

And tell me how many Nigerians would own this device? We don't even have garages that do this. You don't expect me to go through the hassle of importing one of these, and then downloading a very large data and then flash my ecu just to add only 20hp. If I can add 100hp with this then it would be worth the trouble but just 10-20 HP? Bro not worth it and I believe majority of Nigerians would reason with me.

Adding more HP in Nigeria is mainly through engine swap. And rather than someone who owns a 2010 car to swap in a v8, he would rather buy another car that comes with v8. Only someone who drives a 1989 Benz 190 would swap a bigger engine. FACT.

What I call a ridiculous assertions was your statement that older cars are easier to improve their performance than new cars. This shows a lack of automotive maturity and acumen. It would have been okay if you accept that you were wrong and submit to learning a thing or two. But then you wouldn't be the typical Nigerian if you did that.

I only said people with old cars are more interested in tuning their cars to get extra power than newer ones which is true. A 1992 BMW 325 owner who has so much sentimental attachment to his car than buy a newr model would be more interested in a v8 swap than someone with a 2006 model. Here in Nigeria nobody (or only a very few) would buy a 2010 Toyota Camry v6 and then do a v8 transplant. It makes no sense, he would rather buy a Lexus with v8 engine as default. Even to add a few HP with cold air intake etc requires importing of parts, really doesn't worth it.
