I don't know why some people keep calling our local mechanics CLOWNS. They do come in handy one time or the other. These are people without any formal education yet they are able to convert a right hand drive vehicle to left hand drive. They lack any formal education but they can still transplant a Toyota Camry engine into a Landrover Freelander.

Yes the normal thing is to take our cars to a reputable shop, but how many of those shops are readily available. How many people can afford their fees. I once took my car to a Honda shop, after scanning the quoted 490,000 naira as total cost to fix the car. This does not even include opening of the engine. I was told after the fix is done and the problem persist then they will drop the engine which will cost another money. You won't believe the parts they listed:

ecu
ecu programming
ABS module (because my ABS light was on)
4 ABS speed sensors
catalytic converter
o2 sensors
MAF sensor
Throttle body
Baro sensor

etc etc.

Then my engine was shorting fuel.

So what did I do.. I went to one of the so called 'clowns'. I bought a used engine for 170k, bought o2 sensors and space to fool my ecu, bought abs sensors (I never changed the ecu and abs module and some of the things I was asked to change at the 'reputable shop' Well at the end of the day I spent less than 230k and my car has been ok for more than one year now. The thing is to have a scanner and scan ur cars, then go to a mechanic tell him what u want him to do. You can't call all of them clowns because to be sincere they are trying considering the level of formal education they have.

If I had stuck with Honda, I am sure after spending 490,000 naira at the end they would tell me the engine needs to be dropped and would cost an additional 150k or more because I don't see how replacing all those sensors would stop my engine from shorting oil.

The start button alone makes windows 8 far better than windows 7. You can access everything with the search button.. isn't that wonderful, rather than navigating or using command prompt. You can even search ur music, videos, documents and downloads by just typing what u are looking for using the search button and pronto.. u get ur result plsu web search.

When Windows7 came with XP mode people embraced Win 7.

Windows 8 is less than three years old and MS is about killing it.

At the bolded. May I remind u that windows 7 was released in 2009 while windows 8 was released in 2012. That is 3 years interval, same interval for windows 9 to succeed windows 8. So would u also say Microsoft killed windows 7 or that windows 7 was a flop because it only took 3 years to replace it with a better OS?

Let's face the fact, microsoft ain't ditching metro, so if u don't like windows 8.1, chances are u won't like windows 9 either start button or not. And don't expect the start button to be like windows 7. Windows 8.1 already has a start button which I don't even use.

Its not a totally difficult OS for someone who has been in IT for long to figure out, or even for anyone but the point is, software has to be seamless. This is why Nokia had huge market share back in the day. Not that people who used Nokia phones couldn't figure out how to use motorola or samsung or LG, its just that the flow was not there.

This is where u are wrong. 12% of total windows 8 users is a good number. You need to understand the OS is only 2 years old. Same thing happened when Microsoft released windows 7 back in 2009, then it was hard for people to shift from XP. But today windows 7 has the most users. corporate companies don't just change their OS anyhow.

Let me give u a good illustration using android. According to the figure below,

As u can see Android 4.1-4.3 jellybean has the largest distribution at 59.1%. This is a software that was released in 2012. The latest version android 4.4 kitkat has only 1.4%. Now tell me is android 4.1-4.3 jellybean better than android 4.4 kitkat? The answer is NO. As a software grows, the market share increases and this the case with windows 8.

Mobile OS even has an advantage here. Most people use their phones for only 1-2 years and then get a new phone that comes with the latest OS. This is not the case with computers. People use computers for 5 years plus before buying a new one. Lots of people don't bother upgrading their old laptops and this is why windows 7 still has the largest user. Trust me in a few years time the numbers will turn.

I don't see any doom here. Microsoft will still maintain the monopoly until we see a really good competition. Microsoft don't make their own hardware, what they sell is software. Just put it this way.. people are complaining about windows 8 because of the changes.. is it the same people that would use a new word processor? We all know Microsoft word is used in most offices. If u think windows 8 is complex, then I bet u will never try a new word processor other than Microsoft word.

As for Apple, their machines are too expensive. Only a few people can buy a laptop for 300,000 naira.

As for Ubuntu and Linux... only few to no hardware leave company with them. They are only used by programmers.

Window's 8 is very different from Vista. Windows 8 is faster and lighter. It is just windows 7 with themes and more functionality. You should spend more time using it and I bet u will not want to go back to windows 7

Abeg help me ask am oo. Is it to Apple that are a closed system and their machines are very expensive to obtain? Apple computers are only good for Dj's and video/photo editing. Not for official work and that's why companies don't bother using them.

I tell u. Windows 8 is a better version of windows 7. It has every functions of windows 7 but better presentation and neater UI. Better notification and I love the charms bar. What about ability to share ur desktop by just swiping from left to right on the trackpad. I've been using windows 8/8.1 for 2 years now.. and 2 weeks ago I tried using a friend's windows 7 and I was like WTF is this?

People are just afraid of change. They see the metro UI and in their mind they thought they can't use it. Really if u don't want the metro just boot to desktop and its not too different from windows 7.

People complaining about the complexity of windows 8, I wonder what they would say when they use MAC. I love my windows 8.1 and nothing will ever make me go back to windows 7. Windows 8 is very easy to use. Actually its just windows 7 with added functions. The search button alone murders windows 7 and u don't need any command prompts to get to certain menus.. just use the search button. You want to get to control panel? Use search button. Want to get to device manager? Use search button. Want regedit? Use search button. In fact u can use the search button to navigate anywhere in windows 8.1. So in reality it is less cumbersome than its predecessor.

Reminisce all the way. Reminisce is a better rapper and he hardly screews up in any song he gets featured whereas there are lots of songs where olamide fuucks up.

Olamide is a better entertainer no doubt, but reminisce is a better rapper and he keeps it real. It is easier to feature reminisce in a pure hip hop track where olamide would struggle. A good example is 'fans mi' with pheroshuz, terry da rapman and OD. Reminisce murdered that track.

Fuel economy is not only dependent on engine size. On paper the c180 w202 and Camry 1999 i4 with 2.2L engine have almost the same mpg even though the Camry's engine is bigger. But in reality the Camry has better fuel economy and easily managed than c180 w202.

Would definitely keep the landcruiser. Th camry? not so sure

I beat a i4 accord DC the sold in Nigeria version with the sienna, once I reached 130km/h I stopped accelerating the guy didn't even catch up to me, it was on 3rd mainland bridge, he had the upper not due to speed but moving inbetween lines if you tried that with the sienna the car wobbles at high speed changing lanes so during the quater mile of the bridge B4 getting to iyanoworo the bridge is kinda straight and it was free, I stepped on the gas, 80, 90, 100, 110 I came to par with him, 120 I was ahead, 130 he was straining to see my brake light until I turned to oshodi and he went straight.

I disagree with u. Maybe the driver just didn't want to race u. I wonder why people always think they outrun one car or the other. It's not like u two agreed to race in the first place. I might be cruising at 120 and I have my mind made up that I won't exceed 120. Then are behind me and gaining speed , goes beyond 120, gets to 130 and overtakes me. It doesn't mean ur car is faster than mine. The2007 Honda accord DC i4 will comfortably do 190km/hr and still maintain its stability. Good luck doing 175km/hr with the sienna.

A Toyota sienna has top speed of 180km/hr while a Honda accord DC got 240km/hr. The Honda accord has power to weight ratio of more than 40% better than the sienna. So tell me in what way is the sienna faster or better performance car than the accord?

A Toyota sienna v6 is not faster than a Honda accord I4. Some i4's are faster than some v6 even with stock engine. I can tell u that a 2001 vw golf iv 1.8T with 1.8L i4 and 178hp is faster and better performance car than a 2001 Toyota sienna with 3.0L v6 and 210hp.

If u are buying it mainly because of bad road terrain then in my opinion u should look for another taller car. I have used an fx45 and its ground clearance is not higher than my 05 accord. The suspension is sports tuned, very low and gives a very harsh ride than my accord. I believe fx45 and fx35 share the same suspension.

In every other aspect it is a solid ride. Never owned an fx35 but my fx45 is good on gas considering it is a v8. Handles well and good for traveling. Fx35 has an even better mpg. The only thing I don't like about the car is the sports tuned suspension. Good for smooth roads but terrible on pot hole infested roads.

What is Nissan Terria and what is fribrik intiro? I'm confused. That is a Nissan Xterra. This fribirik intiro is what confuses me, u put the same thing in ur other Acura MDX post.

No disrespecting but u make it sound like the 406 v6 is packing a lot of horse power. That thing is just 207 HP, don't let the sound deceive u. Trust me 406 are not the fastest cars, been there done that. Not saying a Camry i4 is faster than a 406 v6, but a 2007 Camry v6 packs 268hp vs 207 HP of the 406 v6.

Also turn on headlamps in heavy rain especially those cars without DRL. I see a lot of people driving in heavy rain without their headlamps on. Its a safety feature.
