nurey: Thanks, this was very clear, so I have done 11xx miles on my trip A after the new oil change. So if my odometer was calibrated in km as in the 92925 how would one identify it cause my speedo is in both km/h and Mph.Ur main speedo is the one written in BOLD which is km/hr. Ur odometer reads 92,925 km, to convert to miles divide by 1.6 = 58,098 miles. |
ur odometer is in kilometers. The outer reading denotes the unit. Ur speedo is calibrated in km/hr |
danadam: It's possible bro. there's a new road through jere-bwari, you can make it if you're fast enough and traffic isn't much on the highway. I had a training in abuja for Saturday morning 9 am, I left kano some few minutes to 6 am and I was at the venue by exactly 9 a.m. 3 hours kano to abuja and I even stopped for refreshments... so it's very possible.U got there in 3 hours, uboma was saying it is impossible to travel that distance in 1hr. If truly the distance is 211km, for u to make the journey in 1 hour then u have to be doing 211km/hr for 1 hour. Of course we know that is not possible on any Nigerian road. Hardly possibly on any road in the world unless some isolated interstate roads where u hardly see any vehicles. |
CityNG: It's a motorized 2 wheel contraptionU sha, u sabi twist everything. Are u from warri 'cos I know warri no dey carry last. Anyway i owe u one can of Budweiser. |
@op, since u think everyone is brainless just like u, can u answer this? What vehicle is this? (a). Car (b). Motorcycle.
|
kingschild123: Car Interior: You have all the clues here. What car make is this? But guy truth me told, u mumu small o. Its just like showing a picture of a pigeon and then asking us what animal is this, bird or goat? By the way that is a Ferrari California |
ivoryhouse: How much does this unit cost? What will it take to install it in an suv like a 1989 landrover defender?Check their website for prices. http://e3io.com/custom-computers-car-pc Price range from $1,000 - $1,250 depending on the Intel processor and presence of obd ii interface. Installation should be plug and play. Whether it will work with ur defender is another thing as it can only work with 2 din car stereo system. |
Ok cityNG, the kenwood Excelon DNN991HD is a kill.. in fact its an overkill. I think its running android. I can see its more functional than the E3iO 2Din CarPC With Windows 8 but I think the windows 8 carputer is more beautiful and more appalling to the eyes. What I don't like about the kenwood is the glossy screen. Yes it is capacitive and very responsive but u can almost see reflections on the screen. Now I need to make up my mind which one to get, I need to read and watch more reviews on both to make my choice. As for iPad mini on the dash, I think that is too much stress and would really need experts because it would involve lots of modification. First u need to get an amplifier as the iPad doesn't have one. Then it needs to be connected to the car ignition so it turns on and off with the keys. And connecting the speakers. Not sure if backup camera can be hooked, also bluetooth adaptor to connect with ur phone. Its just too complex for me so I'll pass. |
nurey: As I have been following this section a long time, don't ever buy a nissan esp altima and maxima Nigerian used. Also buy the 2.5L not 3.5L, try to talk to nisspart he is the expert on nissan carsWhere did u ever see a 2004 nissan maxima with 2.5L i4? They all com with 3.5L v6. Also op I don't think that budget will get u a tokunbo 04 -06 maxima unless it's salvaged. Overall it is a solid car with sports feel, very fast, good interiors and lots of gadgets, Bose stereo with subwoofers. It is better to buy tokunbo than naija used ( it is always better to buy tokunbo for all cars) especially the maxima with lots of electronics. |
Got bored with my head unit and was searching for head units online, came across this. For me I have never seen anything as good as this for a car head unit. Its just like having a full flexed windows 8 tablet in ur car. https://e3io.com/content/images/E3iO_Car_PC_Features.jpg https://e3io.com/content/images/thumbs/0000386_2din-car-pc-m-itx-v2-small-edition_287.png What do u guys think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cExu_Ieg6c |
The best thing is to buy ur parts urself and take them to the mechanic. But then we can't blame mechanics for wanting to buy parts for their customers. They know they will make more money buy buying the parts for u. Some of them even charge so little for workmanship because they know they already made money from the parts. For me if I'm buying a simple thing like bushings or break pads, I just give my mechanic the money to buy them, saves me the stress of having to go to the market to buy these things. If a part is sold for 1,000 and my mechanic says 2,000.. no big deal, he has to leave his shop and transport himself to where he would buy the part. Also I noticed mechanics tend to do a better job if u let them buy the parts then when u buy them urself (from experience). The best thing is just to know the estimated prices of the parts before giving them money. But If I am buying major parts like engine, transmission, cylinder head, etc.. I go with them to buy it. Afterall if u take ur car to a reputable shop, they will give u a quotation and u can't buy parts for them, they will have to buy the parts for u which is part of the way they make their income. The good thing though is when the parts fail prematurely u can always take it back to them to fix. |
nurey: Ok I guess we should embrace technological advancement but if I were to travel a long distance with the intention of reliability and ease of diagnosis, I think a carburetor powered car will be my choice among my fleet, why I can easily open it up trouble shoot and be on my way.Carb cars of those days are less fuel efficient and slower than fuel injected cars. Today it is easy to see a 2.4L i4 engine doing 200hp. That is not easy to achieve in carburated cars. It requires big displacement engines yo get that amount of HP. |
Just look at it this way. A CRT TV vs LED. CRT is easy to set up, cheaper and easy to troubleshoot. A part can go wrong and an electrician only needs to change the failed part and voila its back on. I even remember my fathers old TV, whenever it misbehaves all we have to do was hit it at the top and it will correct itself. Inside there are several ic's and other replaceable parts. Now look at modern LED TVs, made up of just one panel. They are thinner and u can hardly find anything to replace in them. But would u use an old CRT TV just because they are easier to fix? I doubt it. LEDs give better picture and are energy efficient. U can still operate ur TV at current as low as 100 volts, good luck watching ur CRT with even 200 volt . Injector engines are more efficient than caburators, though they are more difficult to troubleshoot. It is a lot easier to build a fuel efficient v8 car with injector, something that is not possible with a caburator engine. Fuel injection meters the fuel much more precisely than the carburetor. With a carbureted car, you could not just start a cold engine and drive off and expect it to run right, especially in cold weather. If you didn't finesse the throttle, these engines were easy to stall. A modern fuel injected 4 cylinder car would run circles around a caburated v6 car. Whoever thinks caburator is better than injector, let him go and convert his fuel injected engine to caburator and come and tell us the result. |
Guy u suppose don learn after all these years na. Its Fabric interior and not fribrik intiro. huh ![]() |
fribrik intiro again? |
Please can u explain to me; what does FRIBRIK INTIRO mean? I'm just confused |
Better sell it and add some money to buy the automatic |
SAVEDBABA: My Mums Toyota sienna does nt have hand brake ooo, does it mean it does nt apply to d carHa ha, yes it does have a hand brake (maybe a leg brake would be a better word) or let's just call it emergency brake. It is located just beside the real brake, to the left. U have to depress it with ur leg to activate it. To release it also depress it with ur leg. But I have noticed that most people with SUV 's and minivans never make use of their emergency brake maybe due to ignorance or they don't know where it is located. |
lomomike: I love the blue backlight. Plus the dash area looks way luxurious and beautiful than some "japyota".Really love the blue accent. But the funny thing is most of the brand new Santa fe sold in Nigeria are trimmed down and their dash never look like this. |
Definitely a Santa fe |
whiteboyswag: @sienna . The temp guage is very very important in a car cause something might go wrong anytime in ur car like fan malfunctions and that alone if not noticed on time can knock ur engine which might break a mans heart I mean if engines like the pacifica knocks I don't even want to tink about it.Yes the temperature gauge is very important no doubt. The base model of ur Chrysler Pacifica lacks a temperature gauge for the US Market while the Canadian models do come with temperature gauge. Maybe it is to cut cost (not sure though). But Chrysler made provisions to include a light on the dash to let u know when the temperature is too low or getting high. At high temperature the light would flash. But then since u are the type that ignore check engine and abs lights, u probably also ignored the warning light and let ur car overheat. Also the check engine light might have something to do with the overheating as it would stay lit when ur engine coolant sensor is bad. Remember the engine coolant sensor controls when ur cooling fans come on. This is not the first car without a temperature gauge. I saw a Toyota Vios in Malaysia that doesn't have a temperature gauge. The 2012 Mazda 5 also lacks a temperature gauge. https://images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/2012-mazda-mazda5_100342124_l.jpg In this case, mazda used a cool blue 'cold' light instead of a temperature gauge because of consumer psychology: In short, owners are more likely to drive gently—and “not thrash the engine”—if there's a light on than if the temp gauge simply shows cold. The light changes color when the engine becomes too hot. So OP, check the light on ur dash, no light on the dash should be ignored, |
Lovetinz: My airbag and check engine light has been on for over a year. It didn't stop me from driving.Since u think driving around with ur check engine light is normal just because ur car still drives.. Its ok. Picture it this way... what if the check engine light has something to do with the car overheating? Maybe a bad thermostat or faulty engine coolant temperature sensor? The car already gave u a warning by showing the check engine light, u refuse to look into it and blame the manufacturers. You need to scan ur car. |
nora544: What an answer, that is the first time that i hear that an aircraft can destroy a building in this way.RIP English. |
Siena: A vehicle parked on an incline, with P selected before the handbrake will have the weight of the car on the transmission locking pawl, which causes premature wear. This is what makes it difficult to pull the lever out of PARK when the vehicle is next used.Hmm, so this is the reason I find it difficult to get the gear out of park sometimes. This is why I love nairaland. I've learned something today. |
lomomike: If you follow that sequence on a slope or a hilly area, you will certainly over load the park pawl pin which could lead to difficulty in pulling the shifter out of 'P' to any other gear program, or at worst, you could damage the Parking pawl pin.Wow I never knew this. Lesson learnt and will have to change my driving pattern. |
It has to be in this sequence. Park>>>handbrake>>>ac off>>>engine off>>>>>seatbelt |
ironheart: guy its 170k mileage, u want to be the maga that spend so much on repair? we Nigerians love beauty than quality, from the pix I see, they did a wonderful job on that car. I see a Nigerian plate number, that means they have flogged that car on our bad roads, by the time you are done buying and doing repairs, its enough to buy you a brand new kia vehicle in Nigeria. on nairaland here I have seen sport version for 1.4mil. just my humble tot my brother. but if u wish to buy at that price, its up to u.Isn't it funny that u already condemn a car u haven't even seen physically? U haven't opened the hood, u haven't started the engine and u already condemn it. By the way that is a dealership number there. |
ironheart: 2.2? its on the high side,I don't know how young you are, but for a Camry I will rather go for a SE or XLE version, SE is sport tuned and XLE is the prestigious version. try asking for 1.3mil. or better still you can use that 2,2m to get a good Honda spiritGuy u funny o. 1.3 m for a 2007 Camry? Rotfl. U will hardly get a 2003 model for that price. |
FlyboyZee: You sound one of those Joes on the street who feels a Toyota is everything. Never ever ever compare a Toyota Camry to a Mercedes Benz C-class. The C-class is in the same category as the Toyota Corolla and not the Camry. The C Class regularly comes with a 1.8l engine except for tushed up models. It is a continuation of the Benz E190, as in another name for the 190. Your arguments would have been valid, but they made no sense as soon as you started comparing the Camry to the C class. It seems like comparing a goat to a cow or an 18 year old boy to a 35 year old man.You are so wrong man. A Mercedes Benz C class is not in the same class as a Toyota corolla. In fact the cheapest C class will buy 2 corollas brand new. It is even more expensive than the highest Camry trim. A C class is a compact executive (luxury) sedan while a Toyota Corolla is a sub compact sedan. Yes both are compact but one is entry level luxury while the other is a passenger car. It is only fair to compare a C class to a Camry, the C class (though compact) is even more luxurious than a camry. |
pimpc007: sharp man, I was talking about shutting down in Windows 8, not 8.1. That screenshot is 8.1.Windows 8.1 is just a slight update from windows 8, not an overhaul like xp-win7-win8. 8.1 runs on windows 8 framework. Anyway, shutting down on windows 8 is as simple as swiping ur trackpad from right to left, or bringing up the charms bar, click settings and then power. Again if that is too difficult then I don't know what else to say.
|
in1960: Someone told me its the master brake. That they need to re-kit it.Check the master break and servo |
pimpc007: its not about time, if it were solely about how old the OS is, how do you explain the large adoption of W7 as compared to Vista?Vista was a big failure and everyone even Microsoft knew it. it was so buggy, laggy and too heavy. windows 8 on the other hand is lighter and even faster than windows 7. Maybe it requires some learning curve but that is no biggy. Plus windows 8 is optimized for touch screen so I don't see windows 9 being too different from windows 8. Windows 8.1 is not too different from windows 7. Maybe people are confused with the metro screen but it can be by passed to boot directly to desktop on windows 8.1. I used mobile OS just to make an illustration. I know mobile OS lifespan is shorter than PC. As at last year, Android 2.3 gingerbread had the largest distribution but now it is Jellybean. By end of 2015 it would be Kit kat. Windows 7 was replaced by windows 8 after 3 years, and windows 9 will be released 3 years after windows 8. Fair enough if u ask me. |
