CityNG: You should increase the depth of your automobile knowledge.Ridiculous ascertations u may call it, I call it reality. Only a minute percentage of Nigerians are real petrol heads that go the extra mile of tuning new cars. Rather than buying a new car and then tuning it to get an extra 25-30 HP, they rather buy the one with the required HP. I will say it again, only people with old cars care about tuning. Owners of newer cars don't care. |
chucky234: The many potholes on the roads you mentioned above makes impossible to maintain a high speed for entire journey.Benin - ore road has become one of the best highways in Nigeria. Maybe u are referring to ijebu ode - ore road which is still in a very bad state. |
auhanson: Yes the badge can be wrong like in my own case: I have a benz 190 with 2.3e badge an 80s machine, now thats suppose to carry {a 230 4 cylinder engine with a displacement of 2,299 cc and 8V (2 valves per cylinder) with a torque of 205 Nm---151 ib-ft at 3500 rpm; with a power output of 136 bhp at 5100rpm; with a top speed of 203 km/h tho speedo reads 220km/h; with acceleration 0-60 mph in 9.50 sec. but on the contrary , my car is a complete tune up}it does much more better than that for years now:Yes badge doesn't matter sometimes, but here in Nigeria it does matter. I can tell u only a very few people tune their cars here. Moreover u will hardly find someone driving a newer car (2005 upwards) with modified engine. I mean what is really there to tune? So badge matters in case of newer cars. Most cars with modified or tuned engines are old cars. |
oluFELAxy: 7. Yungas Road is theI pray I never have a reason to drive through this Yungas road https://www.slate.com/content/dam/slate/blogs/atlas_obscura/2013/10/24/a_terrifying_tour_of_the_world_s_most_dangerous_road_north_yungas_in_bolivia/1382620229.jpg.CROP.promo-large2.jpg https://www.patrol-log.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/NYR7.jpg All the bad Nigerian roads put together are still not as dangerous as driving here. gmyguy: over speeding kills...and if we don't get killed, we're just lucky or slammed the breaks on time. I remember driving a bit fast along Oba akran road towards agege end at dulux some sunday, back in the day, on the inner lane...but wasn't used to that road, cos it had been a while i drove on it. Unfortunately, i tried overtaking a mumu, who didnt want me to, but the inner lane is narrow and rough and there was this omo lanke (wheel cart pusher)...those aboki guys with 8 kegs and motorcycle tires, wheel barrows. Anyway...i couldn't brake because there was this large pot hole, my car literally flew over and when it hit ground managed to screech to a halt at the point where i cleared the aboki wheel cart....the guy kinda vanished when i hit it. kegs got spewed on inner lane, water up in the air like a fountain, then on my car, like a whole keg, engine still running, car safely halted on pedestrian pathway like lane, little scratch on the bumper. ( I think i had impact with my left chasis bar, for those of you familiar with Accord 07 chasis). I was just thinking at the time...OMG, why didn't i do that insurance. You are seriously overspeeding on Oba Akran road? I think u are probably the one with suicidal tendency. That road is one of the worst in Ikeja . You will never find 500 meters stretch of smooth tarmac on that road, its filled with pot holes and patched up at every few meters. Only if u don't love ur car will u do more than 80km/hr on that road with a sedan. Unless of course u are driving an SUV with high ground clearance and very good suspension. |
creepsyme: Nigeria is so impatient, why culdnt dey wait to be sure the Dr was actually free from ebola before discharging her? I became worried the way and manner this patients where been discharged, of course I do pray for them to be healed but at least they shuld have still kept and observed them for sometime more. Nigeria in a hurry to make headlined! RIP to u ma'am.She wasn't discharged. Minister for health was blabbing to make it look like Nigeria got their own solution to Ebola, and so that people can mock America lol. I wonder why they would play that expensive joke at the expense of lives. |
kobonaire: This is an experimental drug, they cannot just make it large scale like garri .... the US are in a very tough situation as there is no supply of this drug.Guy the thing tire me oh. America this, america that. Is America our daddy? The Americans are working hard to get a drug for Ebola before it hits their own country. They keep all their findings classified, even the doctors they gave the zmapp nobody knows their condition. They keep everything secret until they are 100% sure. But here in Nigeria, minister for health is giving fake information, declaring that someone sick has been discharged just to make it look like things are fine and give Nigerians a reason to mock Americans. I wonder who they are deceiving. |
Dee60: What can we say now? O God have mercy.Must u mention America? Isn't Nigeria an independent country and last time I checked America is not our daddy. You lots will lash out at America at every given opportunity and yet u still need their help. |
bosun11: good news but what is the remedyThere is no known cure yet. Early treatment is the best chance at survival, not wait until the virus manifests and then the immune system shuts down. |
king406: I am serious man, the honda might be more powerful than the pug but when it comes to top speed the honda is no where to be found, the honda's top speed is 130mph while an EW12 406 hits about 137mph, the V6 gets to about 147mph and stays very balanced at that speedWhat rubbish are u saying? That 2008 Honda accord top speed is 130mph? Guy just because u love Peugeot doesn't mean u should blasphame. Do u need me to show u a 2008 Honda accord doing 150mph (240km/hr), and its an i4 not v6. U can't compare the 2 cars, the accord is better in every aspect. Even the 407 still can't stand the accord. Your oga Mr Peugeot sef no fit put mouth for this ur lame argument. |
nurey: LASTLY op it is a toyota sienna bus oo not car lol.Toyota Sienna is a bus, which is still technically a car ( a wheeled motor vehicle which carries its own engine and motor). Cars can now be broken down into sedans, hatch backs, suv's, buses, trucks etc. @ Op, Toyota Sienna is a well trusted mini van. Now depending on what u mean by consuming more fuel, for Pete's sake its got a v6 engine which is just perfect for its size. It is economical and fast compared to other vehicles in its class, but if u are expecting the fuel economy of a Toyota Corolla then look elsewhere because it is not possible. V6 generally consume more fuel in traffic compared to I4's but it becomes negligible on highway. |
Readone35L: you guys should calm down And listenSpot on. I know someone who had low oil pressure light on his dash and he still drove the car until the engine knocked. Now he has to change the engine. When I asked him he said he will never buy that model of car again. Tell me do u blame the car brand or the careless owner? The car manufacturer installed a sensor to let u know when oil pressure is low, but u ignored it. Same way with lots of people driving around with with check engine light and flashing d light on their dash. Lots of Nigerian drivers need to go back to the basis and learn the basics of driving a car. Understand the meaning of every light on the instrument cluster. Mist people don't even check their temperature gauge or known when their transmission fluid is due. And when they have little tranny problem, they replace the fluid with cheap ones. |
Ekundayo7: Did you read what was written? The herbalist stated he had treated this before: ..."He said the description and symptoms of EbolaSo what? Did he carry out scientific analysis to determine if it was Ebola? Or don't u know a patient with malaria also has the same symptoms as one with typhoid fever? Or that someone with HIV has same symptoms as malaria? Someone with syphilis might also have same symptoms as someone with gonorrhea. Aisan ode ko, aisan apeja no. |
Victoriousvic: You seriously need to do a little more research sir. Speaking with some colleagues who have been "lucky" so far, and some mechanics abi part dealers, doesn't mean that there are others out there who aren't passing through the transmission issue. I know what I'm saying.Bro, google transmission 2005 Audi a4. Or transmission issues Toyota Camry 07, or transmission issues of any car and I tell u then no car will be worth buying. |
yoribo: The reason why we are here on earth is to complement each other. if American think they have the cure and fail to bring it.There is no confirmed cure for Ebola yet. What the Americans have is an experimental drug, not a finished product. If this drug is sent to nigeria and used on the patients and then something worse happens, u will be here on nairaland saying America wants to wipe us out. |
Sweetlemon: Ms analyzer. Before u play the blame game, did u actually find out what happened on that fateful Sunday? Did it occur to u that Patrick sawyer's aim was to infect people at the ECOWAS conference but for his health that detoriated when he landed in Lagos? The entire staff of that hospital are heroes and they prevented what could have been a catastrophe. A patient was brought in feeling feverish, the hospital took him in which is normal, he didn't tell them he was from Liberia. They ran a test on him found out it was Ebola, and he even denied it. So what would they have done? Send him away so he can infect 20 million lagosians? Sawyer even asked the doctors to discharge him so he could continue his journey to calabar but the staff denied him. Now if u were working in that hospital I'm sure u would run away knowing u were dealing with Ebola. Sawyer wanted to force himself out of the hospital but the staff fought him and when he saw he had no where to go, he urinated on the doctors and nurses and that was how most of the infected got infected. Those people risked their lives to save millions, they deserve some respect and not criticism. |
oluwasegunfummi: am a professional too, sorry to disappoint you, everybody isn't uneducated like you are. ThanksProfessional indeed. So much education for someone who doesn't even know when to use 'I'm' instead of 'am'. |
ebdib: Did Obama bring ebola to Nigeria on that plane?Best comment ever. I don't know why people keep blaming Obama. Nigeria is an independent country, USA is also an independent country. Both countries have their own problems, if America thinks for some reason they can't release zmapp (an experimental drug) to Nigeria, its no big deal. Its a challenge to us to make our own research and stop playing the blame game. Just picture this..... America releases zmapp to Nigeria, it was used on Ebola patients and leads to a catastrophe, now what would be the comment of Nigerians? |
oluwasegunfummi: They should collect her blood sample, @ this point she will still have those antibodies in circulation, nigeria shouldn't let her just go, she's an experimental tool, ebola virus only kills 90% of its victims, this woman is part of the remaining 10%, I repeat, she is an experimental tool, make nigeria no dull this one........eko o ni baje ooooSince u know so much why don't u go to the quarantine center and cater for the sick. U think u know more than those professionals that discharged her? |
king406: yes oga ikenna351 I've been waiting for u 406 geek, I want to know between a peugeot 406 EW12 and V6 vs honda accord 2008 V8, which one is faster?? I want to know this once and for allThe accord v6 is not only faster but also more aggressive. Forget this LION king of the jungle ish that u want to start here. |
ritababe: What american can do, african can do it better,I wonder what ur problem is with US government. USA is an independent nation, so is Nigeria. Nobody should be dependent on another, so why would u mention the US when we develop a solution to our own problem. If u feel the US is not better than us, then why reference them? |
Racism is a very delicate word to use. Yes the cop was very wrong to shoot him since he was unarmed.. but is this the first time this has happened? NO. We have seen cases of cops shooting at unarmed white men, do we call that RACISM? So a cop shoots a black man and suddenly it becomes RACISM. The cop should be made to pay for his actions. RIP to the dead. |
peterjero: Why not use eBay or better still go to Lagos or contonou to source for your American dream. Point of correction rolls Royce and Ferrari ain't American cars. Why u dey mind this joker? Somebody wants to buy a Ferrari and na for nairaland him go find am? |
lestat: And this is why you are utterly stupid! This is why your African scientists do not have the ability to tackle this disease because your schools produced half baked dummies like you who have sub par IQ.Guy seriously the thing tire me. The american scientists have been working while our scientists where sleeping, now they bring out a solution to a problem and people still read silly meaning to it. |
Now we are all asking for help from the Americans. And later we will say AMERICA NO PASS US. SMH. We criticize them for any small thing now we run to them. When Americans were busy researching we are busy praying to God. God only helps those who help themselves. Is it not an irony that the white man who brought Christianity to Nigeria will pray for only 5 minutes and use the rest of the time to work and research. Whereas a Nigerian will pray for 5 hours waiting for miracle instead of researching. |
elbedso: I think What gets people confused is simply actual speed and indicated speed.Yes I know and I am talking actual speed here. I know there might be a little error on indicated speed due to tyre size etc but I don't think it would be outside the range of +/-10km/hr. So tell me how a car doing 160km/hr can overtake another car doing 200km/hr. I've had this argument with a friend who beat his chest claiming that a Mercedes Benz doing 100km/hr is equivalent to a Toyota at 160km/hr. What a dumb statement. |
Chibzee: Omo do u even have the slightest idea of what ur saying?Of course I know what I'm saying, an airplane doing 50km/hr will not overtake a bicycle doing 50km/hr. So then tell me how a car doing 160km/hr can overtake another car doing 200km/hr. I wonder what u are thinking.. so u think when a BMW is doing 100km/hr it means it is faster than a keke napep at the same speed? The only difference is that the BMW will get to that speed first. If both vehicles are level at the same speed, then both will be level. How else do u think cops use radar guns to track speed? Or do radar guns know if a vehicle is BMW or Benz or Toyota? It gets its result based on what speed a vehicle is doing |
wristwatch: Ghen gheun.. Increase d speed 2 160kmph. 2 my surpise + was able 2 catch the 2 crazy cars which I peeped briefly @ their speedometer almost readin 200kmph. Nah dat day nai I knw say german cars no be japanese mate. I increased it 2 170kmph, i leave them make dem dey fight on who gets 2 ilorin. Arriving @ ilorin wen I slowed down, d drivers of d 2 cars luk @ me and smile*This is a BIG FAT LIE. Again there goes the old myth that some people still believe that a Benz doing 100km/hr is equivalent to a Japanese car doing 160km/hr. Speed is the same no matter what u drive. If I drive a keke napep and able to do 160km/hr, I will be on the same speed as u in ur Benz at 160km/hr. Let's say I got to 160km/hr before u, then u will NEVER catch me if u are doing the same speed I am doing. Let's assume u accelerated fast and got to the same level as me and then maintained that speed, then we will both be at the same level, u can't overtake me no matter what u drive. An airplane doing 160km/hr will not overtake a 1980 Toyota corolla also doing 160km/hr. So guy abeg there are no kids here on nairaland. Maybe ur car is calibrated in mph while ur opponents are in km/hr. Then at 160 u are actually doing 257km/hr which is very difficult to do on a Nigerian road. |
argon500: Who is the oldest player in the just concluded 2014 world cup in Brazil?just type this ur question into google and u get ur answer |
expert101: ARE YOU A LEARNER?Well guess what, I don't think the Op is looking for a car used for taxi, if so then we all should be driving golf 2, Mitsubishi shuttle bus or even danfo since they are well used for commercial transportation. For personal use, I would choose the EOD over big daddy any day. I like the big daddy, but eod is more beautiful but outside and inside, and eod is also considerably rugged and reliable, needs more care than the camry though. Ruggedity is not the only thing I look for in a car. |
