If u want to conserve data swicth to 3g or even 2g only. As for me I enjoy the speed of 4g so I don't have to switch to 3g only. Be mindful of YouTube videos, watch at 240p, it's clear enough and saves a lot of data. A lot of people watch YouTube without changing the quality and when u are on a fast network it might be streaming at 720p or even 1080p. If a 5 mins video streamed at 240p burns 10mb of data, the same video at 1080p will burn around 200mb

It's total bullshit. I use mtn and it doesn't suck data at all. I use what I subscribe for. The thing is most Nigerians are used to very slow networks and this is where glo try to cajole people. Their Network is so slow u can use 2gb in 30 days and still have some mb left. Mtn is freaking fast and some people will stream YouTube at 1080p and later come and complain that mtn suck their data. Meanwhile with glo they can only stream at 144 or 240p. Yes mtn is that fast the first time u launch YouTube it would try to stream at the highest possible quality that the network can stream at. If u notice since Airtel launched their 4g a lot of people have started complaining that it sucks their data. Why? Because Airtel 4g is also incredibly fast , they be enjoying it without monitoring their usage. The only network that doesn't suck data to people is glo and that's because they are slow.

Another major data sucker is Instagram. When u are on a slow network it conserves data as it won't be able to pre load videos. But on a fast network it preloads all videos at the highest possible quality based on network speed. More videos means more data.
