I don't know the statistics but the Qur'an is written in Arabic and Muslims with "ilimin' Qur'ani" are able to read it. In short kids where I live learn the Arabic alphabets, numbering system and are able to read and write in Arabic. I don't know even know why am still arguing this with you. [some] Muslims value Qur'anic education more than western education, and so their children learn the Qur'an (which is in Arabic) either exclusively (in the case of almajirai) or alongside normal schools. Most if not all the Muslims I know are able to read it, although the scholars are naturally better at it, in fact as kid I could have learned it if we hadn't moved.
Anyway, which part of the north did you live?

I am a Muslim and I don't need you to arguing with you me based on this fact. I attended Islamic school as a child and don't really need you to tell me what I know

Well, northern kids actually learn Arabic as part of their Qur'anic classes. So a lot of northern Muslims know how to read Arabic, in short, they value it more than western education thats why you'll most of them attend almajiri schools and not western styled schools.

Most northerners don't know how to read Arabic.
Almajiri system is a system used by lazy parent to justify not taking good care of their children. I was born, reside and had all me education in the north, including University education

You can't bury indigenous language & culture in the graveyard of English language. Most countries speak more than one language and they also accommodate them. Case in point, South Africa.

That is never a justification for inscription of Arabic on Nigeria military code.

Arabic is not native to any culture be it North or south, it came in from some nomadic traders iIo the north and through Shangai empire into South west.

Majority of the so called northern hausas can neither Reed or write Arabic so why the need for it in our military codes?

Nigeria is just a polarize count ruled by a lot of fools in the past with no patriotism for their fatherland and most of us don't really above the dogma of religion
