GloriousGbola: Go on please.
These are the typical words the Nigerian male chauvinist throws around in cases like this. Family values, bitter, carrying matter on your head - how soon before evening newspaper or old cargo enters the mix C’mon! I will never attack your personality. I’m well cultured. I have manners nah . My point is we should rather help her resolving the issue rather than taking what should have been the last resolution. I wish everybody peace in their home. |

GloriousGbola: You should have thought of that before asking if the husband was my brother. Maybe I should ask you if you woukd be happy if your daughter was being turned into a meal ticket for your son in laws family while working herself to the bone. It’s obvious how bitter you are about the situation. Why u come carry d matter for head nah ? Note this : I said “ what if the husband happens to be your brother “ *WHAT IF* |

GloriousGbola: The classic Nigerian defence. Divorce is evil and it is better to suck it up. There are women who have been killed by psycho husbands all because society told them a virtuous woman must put up with all sorts of bs.
Also, Neither I nor my brother will be such exploitative arse holes. We were not raised that way, even if you were. Smiles...I wish you peace of mind. Please, you can actually pass across your message without attacking my personality. |

lefemmechoclat: Abimbola. I get it i used to think like this but as time has passed and there is no urgency ot get my out of this financial rute i am just broken. If you out your parents in a higher pedestal than your life then i cant convince otherwise. I am not to he a sacrificial lamb so his parents can have their desires met or aome tradition is carried out. Im second gen haitian we have the same issues but you know what my parents would never allow me to help them and my husband suffers for it. Never. Like if i told my father what am going through if I involved family he wouldn't be seen in a good way and they love him. They already don't like that I work so much I told them its for saving but it isnt.iy was to keep my home to keep my kid in therapy. I feel used. I gave this man 10 years of my life..financially i have suffered to keep my home afloat so creditors dont ruin me. Did he care about that? No. That is what breaks me. lefemmechoclat: Yes I am bitter. Cos his family don't see or care how much or even ask how much debt we have, the costs of caring for a special child or the long term financial planning. No one cares. It is not so much the money it's the fact that he saw me suffering working all those hours just to be able to cover minimums and yet he is building a home and telling me it's a perfect for the future. Why would he think it's ok for me to suffer to help him? Build? Like his parents have a 3 room one floor home maybe 2500 or so Sq ft. Plus a monthly allowance. There were times I was so tired I almost passed out cos I would be working these 2 jobs on the weekend and my kids would ve asking for lunch.
What about my own suffering.house house house. Still I am saddled with this debt and it's not a priority just house. Like I wasn't and didn't marry him to be a step stone to resolve things. If your parents are a priority and they aren't suffering he should return to them and we part ways. As a single woman I never suffer like this.i wasn't raised this way. I understand your plight I swear , what he did was wrong and he would have felt the same if you had being the one who did that, I know . Please just calm down first , please I beg of you. GloriousGbola: You must always keep in mind that Nigeria is a patriarchal society where women are expected to suffer in silence. Worse things have happened to women based in Nigeria, and they are sometimes even gaslighted into guilt
Your husband could get a maid pregnant and you would still be blamed
I deliberately used the word akata which is a derogatory Nigerian slang for African American. For the most part we look down on AAs. You will note someone was already talking smack about you being haitan.
All this will play a part in how your husband and his family actually look at you. Particularly as Nigerians can be very Conservative where marriage is concerned. Even Liberals can start drawing lines at intertribal marriages - so now imagine how they would look at a marriage to a foreigner What will you gain if they divorce ? Oh! You’ve never lied to someone before ? You are a saint right ? Your marriage is perfect right ? Divorce is the only solution to marriage problems right ? You will be happy if the husband happens to be your brother right ? Instead of trying to calm her down and encourage her to have a conversation first before any action, you feel divorce is the solution right ? |

lefemmechoclat: Western mentality of divorce ok but he didn't think of me when I was suffering over 2 years working 16 hr days and cooking and cleaning and managing the home. He didn't care. That broke me. What about mentality of parent wellbeing over your immediate family. My kids didn't even have time with me cos I had so many bills to pay. He broke me. The only thing that mattered was 60k in a home. Did anyone ask or care if my special child has something for his future? Or my kids. Did anyone care about generational wealth building? He did this and I was the last to know but I'm the only one that suffered and helped him get to where he needed to be
It isn't about the west or not. Let's not let culture dismiss being honest. I would never do that to him. It is clear and I know now saving for your kids isn't a priority. He didn't see that growing up. He suffered while his father did the same building for others while they were renting. I take the blame for not knowing until after marriage but the buck stops here. I have been married 10 years, no savings no life insurance no trust for my special need child. No thank God i have put money in my 401k but who said I married to suffer? No. I understand how you feel, I truely feel your pain I swear . Being betrayed by the most trusted breaks someone I know. I still plead with you to please calm down. I’m sure you know he loves his kids as well and wouldn’t want them to suffer. Sometimes we do things we ain’t proud of but I know it’s still not an excuse. Please talk to him before taking any step. Two wrongs don’t make a right , don’t let his wrong doings break this wonderful family. I know you will say why didn’t he give it a second thought too but please give him a chance to explain himself. I swear I don’t even know why I’m begging on his behalf but a part of me is telling me he did that out of pressure. I want you to know he loves his family and want the best for you guys but please try to understand this our African culture. Some parents at times go to the extent of threatening to curse their child if he or she don’t do as they wish. Talk to him first please , broken home isn’t good for the children please. Just for their sake please talk to him first and see what he have to say.I know how bitter you are right now but don’t let your emotions get the better part of you. Don’t listen to anybody telling you divorce that he is selfish and all sort. So many people wouldn’t have done the same if they were in your shoe. Note this: when 2 knowledgeable people fights, it is a stupid person that will preside on their matter. The said judge would have done worse if he or she was in the person’s shoe. IT IS A PROVERB IN YORUBA. |

lefemmechoclat: So background. I am American. Haitian background. I am a nurse practitioner. My husband works in engineering. We have 4 kids. One with special needs. Married 10 years. He comes from a very poor background. I do not. We are in debt in due student loans, mortgage and our kid has medical needs and will probably need care for life. We both work and built life together. He always said he was going to wait several years before building a home back home..he always said this. While sometimes I worked 2 jobs to make sure we stayed afloat. He got multiple job and first thing he did, instead of helping to pay debts to relieve me or save for our kids especially the one with medical needs etc was behind my back build a 60,000usd home for his parents. Everyone knew except me. I found out cos u wen to his phone to get some pictures and found it. It breaks my heart cos we have built life together and I have struggled with this man and instead of relieving my stress so I don't have to work so hard he takes 60k and builds a mansion for parents. We have literally no savings ofr ourselves or our kids. That to me is irresponsible. His parents already had a home and we send nearly 400 a month for upkeep. Meanwhile all the money my special needs kid has is from my own pocket. We have 3 other kids without savings at all .how could he do this? I seem to can't get over this. Please don’t take any drastic decision yet , don’t even think of divorcing him please. Think of the good things he has done in the past , think o bye sacrifices he has made in the past too. What he did is very wrong but please be mindful of your actions as this will rather change him for good or break him for life. He must have yielded to his parents pressure of building house for them in the village , only we Africans know how our parents behave when they want something from us at all cost. Please, don’t allow the western mentality to take place where they see nothing wrong in divorce. Talk to him and let him know how bitter you are about the whole thing, trust me he will be remorseful . He must have even done that just to have peace of mind. Please give him a second chance , I know he betrayed your trust but please give him a second chance . Don’t mind those people here labeling him a betrayal and a bad man , only the person that wear the shoe knows where it pinches. These people won’t be there in your life , even God always give us a second chance . I swear I don’t mind standing for him that such will never happen again, I feel for him . Please don’t break him. Your kids deserves a one big happy family , children are the one who suffer most in divorce. |

Viltron: It's a little long.
A girl I loved so much in our first year in uni. I was caring and all. She turned me down then in the most brutal way - with stern warnings never to try such rubbish again.
I took it like a man and even pleaded for her to forget it lets continue our friendship since we were on the same course and partners.
We were in the same city but she never visited me once. But I use to go to her place
On my birthday she didn't show up.
I went to see her along with my best friend then, who was studying in a different state, and one other friend. Gave her good money to cook. We ate.
Months later, I discover she and my best friend had been seeing each other since our meeting. To the point she'd been traveling to see him before things turned sour between them
When I discovered, she's started apologizing and begging, crying how she'd like us to date. By this time I was no longer in the school - I had changed uni. To a different state.
More than 10 years on, she's still professes love to me and wishes I marry her, but I made a vow to myself never to have anything to do with her after she and my best friend betrayed me.
Now she and my friend are sworn enemies
If you were in my shoes, what would you do. Stand your ground bruh , she only want to use you to get to your friend just like doing what will forever pain him. Don’t be used bruh, be wise . |

You don’t condemn an administration of which you are actively part of, the best you could do is to either try your best to effect positive changes where possible or you resign. The former is better than the latter in most instances. Because, once you resign you lose your influence and all relevances.
A living dog is better than a dead lion. Be wise, young man. God bless your wisdom bruh, you nailed it . I will ask the brother condemning our V.P this question “ is he himself perfect that he has never for once go agains God’s will? 2. hotwax: My lovely girlfriend is a sweet woman who always give me sense of assurance. She is very decent, caring and respectful. She is so firm that it took 4 months before we could talk about romance or trying it out.
She is well known in my family circle. I base in Lagos, she stays with her parents in ibadan, but she usually come around when my family members are having a gathering. She will cook for us, do the chores. Everyone grew found of her. My siblings do even ask of her. “Where is Anu? Take care of the lady ooo”. My mom who hardly get along with our girlfriends always ask about her. All these made me to be sure that’s the woman I was going to marry. After all, my people already knew her and they are getting along well. No complain from any angle
The Problem
Late October 2021, I informed her that I would be attending a ceremony in ibadan where stays. She was exited, she even told me she missed me, the kisses, sxx etc. She can’t wait to see me again. I was excited too. I texted her the hotel address when I got to Ibadan.
She came, we hug, and she started kissing me, but we later calmed down afterall we are just seeing and we still have the whole night. So no rushing. She told me she saw domino pizza opposite the hotel that she is hungry for it. And this is where the devil came in. She took some cash and prepared to go and buy the piza. She was walking out towards my hotel room door, so I stood to accompany her to the door, more importantly help her with the door. She opened the door before I got there, but I was behind her. A guy also came out from a room not directly opposite mine, (I actually knew when the guy checked in. He was dragging his trawl on the room walkway, so I guess he was a new guest).
As my babe came out, the guy was coming out of his room giving my babe seductive look. Immediately he saw there was a guy behind her, he quickly looked away. He went out of the hotel via the walkway, my babe also followed him because they were coincidentally going towards the same direction.
Truth be told, I never suspected anything. I was even mocking the guy in my mind, my girlfriend is the last person you want to mess with. She came back with the pizza, sat on the bed, munch while she was busy pressing her phone. I suspected something must have crop up with the way she was busy chatting on whatsapp. She gave me no attention. So I joined her on the bed. With sad face she asked if I have tissue, I asked what happened, she said her period just came now. I said the bathroom has a tissue paper. She went in spent minutes in the bath, came out of the bath, to pick another pant in her bag. (She came with clothes, because she want to spend few days with me). She went back to the bathroom wash, did some other stuff.
She joined me on the bed, put my hand on her padded private. She used tissue paper as sanitary pad. She said sorry, I Bleep up. I said no she shouldn’t feel sorry. Her menstruation is my joy. Afterall you are not here because of sex. We have a lot to talk about tonite. So relax lets enjoy the night. She then told me she can’t spend the night. She has to go on the same day, before evening. She gave me reason that when her menstrual cramp starts she always boil water and other things. Hotel is not the right place for it. I agreed. 6pm, she packed and started going, I was busy on my laptop fixing my office assignments. I stood to see her off. She insisted that I should continue. No need. But I insisted, as I saw her off to the door, she insisted again, go and do your work na. I will take a bike just at the entrance, I don’t know what happened, I just agreed saw her walk out the walkway, I banged my door and continue my work on the laptop.
Then few seconds later, even if she wanted to get a bike, she will still be waiting outside for one, I remembered that the plate I used for lunch still has some leftover food and if not discarded will constitute foul stench in my room. So I picked up this plate to try and place it outside my door so housekeepers could pick it up.
I opened my room door, bend down to drop the plate at my door foot, I noticed someone standing at the door indirectly opposite mine. The person was knocking gently and calling on mobile too. I guess the person is trying to call the occupant of the room. But he/she was being careful not to knock the door loudly. I always mind my business, I said to myself, why do I care, this is a hotel. So I attempted to close my door. But then, something occurred to me, the person is a female and she wore white shirt, exactly like my babe. Out of curiosity, I looked back what I saw made me sick for days. The memory keep hitting my heart like dagger.
It was my woman, I didn’t know she saw me and became frozen looking at me praying I do not look back. But I looked back and saw her. She was shaking with her mouth widely opened. Then while the looking competition was on, the door opened and the guy opened the door waiting for her to come inside, when she didn’t go inside, the guy must have noticed she is looking at someone on the walkway, the guy also came out to see who she was looking at, he saw me and quickly closed and jammed his door.
Then I jammed my door too. She stood on the walkway for 10minutes. Then she started banging on my door. Calling my line. I didn’t answer. She sent text and also whatsapp.
“Its not what you think. I can explain. Something came up. Please open…I need to discuss something with you. I will not leave if you don’t open”. She did all that for like 20minutes. Then she left. That was the end of our 1+year relationship. She too did not bother to call or text after that day.
The whole thing felt like sharp scorpion sting to me. I never believe what I saw. Anything relationship started irritating me. I don’t think I can go into relationship again. These people are quick to call men dogs, but they are public toilet. I prefer to be dog than be where everyone dump their sper_m. Hope you let her mum know she birth a dog? Richdoh: I'm a young hard work guy who's planning to settle down someday. I have a girlfriend whom I have gone to see her family with my own family , as in, we have done our introduction, what was remaining was for us to fix a date for our wedding.
But this girl started showing some nasty attitude. There was a day she came to spend weekend with me and I gave her some money to buy some food stuffs to cook, that day i received the greatest shocke of my life , my fiancee warmed me never to send her message like that again that she is not my slave.
As if that was not enough. Another day she came to spend some days with me but when she got to my house I was not at home that day. She went to the bathroom to get some shower but unfortunately there was no water running in the bathroom because we didn't had light for 2days so we couldn't pump water. Normally when there's no water like that we usually fetch from the next compound. Though I live in a room and parlour self contain with water running in my kitchen and bathroom.
To cut the long story short, my fiancee refused to fetch water for herself to take her shower. She had to call me on phone to come home and fetch water for her to take her shower. When I eventually got home at late hour, I took the bucket went to fetch water for her to bath just for peace to rain. I later asked her why she had to call me to come and fetch water for her to bath knowing fully well that I was not around. She said in her house, she does not fetch water that her dad usually call Aboki's and buy water from them. She told me that she can't leave a suffering life of having to fetch water, she can never do it.
Please nairalander is this a good sign or bad sign to watch out for? The more you tolerate her excesses , the more she do these things to you. I Dey always take shit myself before but baba not any longer oo cos if u give these ladies an inch, they will always cross their boundaries. Make your stand known now what you can’t take and if she can’t heed to that , tell her to her face that she should go look for someone who will take her excesses. I have once been a mumu lover before baba all cos I want peace to reign buh now , I always make it known and stand my ground that I’ll rather be single and happy without anyone giving me headache than trying to mumu myself cos I wan save stupid relationship wey no Dey favour men. Sit her down and tell her “ if you know you can’t obey me as your husband and let your guard down, there is no point getting married to you because two captains no ft Dey one ship”. 2. Your utterances has shown when things go south , you won’t be there. If that’s the case , no need getting married to me cos it shows you are with me because of what I can provide for you now. 3. I’m giving you the last chance to sit yourself down and ask yourself if you are ready to get married , it wouldn’t be like your daddy’s house so you should save me the stress cos I’m a different being compared to your dad. *” we can still save ourselves the disgrace of getting married and divorcing after a short well cos of some attitudes, if you ain’t ready to change , let’s go our ways. |

tolakush92: Good evening nlders I’ll be very brief and precise .This thing has been bothering my mind and I felt I should seek for reasonable and experienced opinions from senior men them on this forum .
The issue is .. is it a bad thing to cook in my Brothers house (although he has a wife and kids ) .His wife felt bad yesterday cus I cooked small okra and Eba cus I was hungry . The only food she likes me to cook in her kitchen is indomie . I feel if there Is love what’s there if I cook anything I want to eat in the kitchen .must I always take permission to cook
Pls I want to know if it’s right or wrong
Front page pls Aside the fact that he is married Slf , me personally, I hate it when one walks into my kitchen to cook food for their self alone. Cook everybody’s food if you want to cook. Moreover if each individual walks into the kitchen to cook what they feel like eating, do you think it’s reasonable. It’s either you wait till one cook everybody’s food or you cook for everybody. We have different upbringing though buh for my papa house den, if uno go eat wetin dem cook, goan take garri ni ooo |

jumper524: Going by the price of cement and inflation rate Toda, then we are going forward. In 1982 the naira to dollar is #1 to $0.5. Meaning if 40 bags is #1520, then 1bag is #38 or better still 19dollar. $19 dollar to naira today is 7800. In essence cement is actually cheaper today. Aswear u get brain, some people go just wake up post rubbish |

I stopped active engagement on NL when I discovered most peeps on this forum are either uneducated or partially educated. The worst are the partially educated MoFos!
That sheet up there is no RECEIPT for heaven sake There is a difference between a pro-forma invoice and a commercial invoice. Proforma invoice is at best a mere estimation, whereas commercial invoice is the actual bill that needs to be paid if the goods were actually delivered. A receipt is that document you received after payment!!!!
What the OP posted is a damm Pro-Forma Invoice, its all an advert for the Club!
Do not quote me abeg, I am seeing my period!!! You are an accountant right ? Cos u too get brain Olohun . |

Wiseandtrue: while he waits for what
He mustn't invest all the money! While he waits till the land appreciate my Oga cos I tire ooo. Investment differs bruh and there some investment one shouldn’t rush too unless you have extra at hand and such is purchase of land and building of house bruh. Let me give you an illustration to back it up: Someone who has a shop and is doing well for himself shouldn’t rush to acquire a land cos he is digging his own grave. He should rather reinvest proceeds till he have enough to buy land without feeling it @ll. Land will appreciate but can you compare it to proceeds from trading ? |

Family › Re: What My Dad Wanted Me To Do On His Behalf by abimbola74(m): 4:10pm On Sep 12, 2021 |
Nelchuksmandela: Good day Niralanders,
I need your sincere advice on my present situation. Please ignore any grammatical error or punctuation. I’m the first son of my family, my father is an average Nigerian trader, he single handedly sponsored my schooling from nursery to higher institution.
After my service year, one of his friends scammed him of 300k in the name of they will get me a job in NUPENG before he paid that money I told him my pastor’s revelation about the NUPENG job, which my pastor said She does not like the job and shared ill references associated to the job with me and I told my dad when I got home, he countered and rebuked the revelation, he doesn’t take any of our advice, he finally fell for the scam.
To cut the long story short, I’m now working class that earn 75k monthly, however I’m still squatting with a friend and I’m still struggling to survive.
Recently I received a call from my dad, he told me he needs 500k for trading, that he wants me to take loan on his behalf he will be paying the debt once it’s due, since he is yet to complete the outstanding loan he took from the same bank, which is remaining 3 months to complete. I later discovered he had another debt he’s still servicing (Paying ) of a different bank that is remaining 6 months to complete. After pondering over it i asked him; what if he defaults what will happen ? he shunned me and said why will I be negative and I politely told him my mind that I cannot help the current issue. Since then he started reporting me to my mum relatives to talk to in order to accept and collect the loan of 500k on his behalf.
Please your advise on this will be helpful. Thank you. Some of the people telling you to ignore your dad don’t even have a responsible dad, only few have. Your dad once even took 300k loan cos of u, it’s obvious he meant well for u. Take the loan bruh , even if he doesn’t pay back and u eventually pay it back. He won’t have anything to hold into against u. It’s just like programming ur mind that u want to pay back d 300k he too for your sake man. |
