okomi562: My friend recently got a job in one of the top banks in Nigeria.
I am happy for him. He did not tell me but I asked him for financial help but he said he is in training school. I got to know blah blah.
I am also a recent graduate with no work but I am teaching now.
I am happy for him, I congratulate him.
But yesterday, I felt sad because I thought when will mine come.
I just felt tired. I have seen far friends hitting success but it hurts when close pals get it. Like you begin to question did I get it wrong. Not that it pains me no. I begin to think of my plans too.
I am happy for him, I will not lie.
Am I jealous? Or is it normal?
I am here to learn.
So I can correct my self I kuku understand you but don’t let that affect you in any way. Truth be told , we have all went through that phase at a point in our lives. Just be focus and determined . I resulted having this mentality that why not even struggle to be a man of my own, pushing hard to have diffrent source of income no matter how small bro. With time those ones will start to envy you. I could remember back then I was so frustrated that I took a 25k job and everything still goes to tfare , I will always think till I even fall asleep in the bus on my way home, depression was setting in but I didn’t let that define me or show it to anyone. Ruke1989: You only gave gifts. The issues being avoided is not giving of gift. But situation where you have to be fully responsible for paying university school fees for like three or four younger siblings of your wife, sending them monthly upkeep and be fully responsible for their feeding until they finish university. That happens in some instance, not because your wife is from a poor home but because the parents are unsupportive or outrightly lazy to work. Those kind of parents would demand money from you through your wife and openly express their anger if you give less than their expectations. When those siblings of your our wife wants to marry, bulk of the funding will come from you. Your wife will nag and won't give you peace until you empty your savings and borrow just to please her and her family.
I had a neighbor that was in this exact situation I am describing. The wife was a firstborn. For the first 10 years now that he and the wife (a nurse) has worked, they are unable to buy a car, build house or even save up to N700,000 in total from what he told me. They will always withdraw to please the wife nagging over her siblings or mother's demand. That's when I understood how wicked, manipulative and selfish many Nigerian women really are Because he gave in to her nagging , I swear to almighty Allah, I will never fall for such . See! I will state clearly that their father should be responsible for such and anything from me should be considered as gift . Meslf know I get choco oo Aswear , I’m a kind of person that can even say it in her parent’s presence. The sweetest thing is coming to stay for a week and I spoil you till you go but if e don Dey reach my school fees story , wetin concern me . My sibilings are doing good and there was a time government was paying half salary to civil servants ( my parents are civil servant ) , bro! They are trying to avoid some billings ni oo. Definitely he will be ur sibilings second father which literally means his responsibility has increased stylishly though for man that’s responsible niyen if not e no go look their side . Did you see the requirements by the visa office for your student visa? Did you meet such requirements? These are questions that should have been considered before embarking in this journey. So, the advise would have been, counting the cost before movement. From the conversation so far, it is indicative that you didn't do that. You just like to argue , can’t you just rest? Saviourplease: Good evening house.
I am in a dilemma and I need advice on what to do.
A bit of background about myself: I am a 29 years only child from a very poor background. I work for an IT firm which i joined in 2019 as a graduate trainee.
My total income is around 490k (400k from main job, 90k from a writing side gig).
My challenge: Recently, My host have told me to look for my accommodation and I have been searching for houses. Unfortunately, the places closer to my places of work is expensive.
I work in VI and the cheapest mini flat I have seen in close vicinity is 1.2M at Ajah.
I also have have a building project I am undertaking in the village that is at roofing stage and my parents have been pressuring me to settle down as the only child.
My dilemma is this, If i go for the house at Ajah, it will eat a bulk of my savings, thereby making it impossible for me to complete the building project or even start the process of settling down.
If I go for a cheaper but farer location, I will be spending more time in traffic.
Please, how do I manage this? Guy! Uno try @ll so if your host didn’t give you quit notice u won’t think of getting yourself accommodation. You overstayed and it’s because of people like you I hate housing people even Meslf I can’t stay more than a month cos I would prefer a face me I slap you than being a burden on someone ( even if they are more comfortable, u still eat their food nah ) you embarked on a project without sorting your immediate needs. Romance › Re: New Marriage About To Crash. by abimbola74(m): 8:54am On Aug 10, 2023 |
Ehinjuola: My husband is not the same man I fell in love with.
My husband changed totally after wedding day, in fact, it started on the wedding night and its giving me a lot of concern.
It's not that he is not talking to me or we are fighting, but he is not the cheerful happy person anymore.
After months of trying to get what the problem is, he finally opened up to me and I don't know what my fault is, I think he is overreacting.
My husband works in an insurance company and he is just a junior staff, he earns 150k per month, so he is not doing that bad.
When we wanted to get married, my dad wrote the wedding list and everything he would bring, when he saw them, he fumed that they were too much and they should reduce it but my dad insisted that he won't collect it twice, I also told him if he really loves me, he would provide them, he could get help from his family too, it is called bride price and other things, and it is once.
We had little issue then but he later resolved it.
He brought everything they ask him for
During the wedding, my parents told him to buy a cow, rent a hall and decorate it then they'll take care of other things. He said he didn't have money for a big hall and he would prefer a field ground but my dad insisted that rain could disrupt things and he has many people coming.
That almost cause issues too, I had to support him with 50k to get the hall because I know who my dad is, he won't back out.
I didn't know how he did it, he took the hall and designed it, he bought cow too.
His family brought food and everything went fine and that was it.
I don't know what was keeping him moody until he spoke up.
He said I couldn't fight for him, I was there supporting my parents and watch them extorting him, did I even know he had to collect loan to pay for those things?
I got angry because he used the word 'extorting'.
He was the one that wanted to have my hand in marriage and if he cherish me, he should do all they wanted since he is not paying twice.
After I said this, he stopped talking in the house, he comes home, eat and go to bed.
I tried talking to him but he would listen but not talk, he is cold to himself and prefer his privacy.
Have I said something wrong?
I don't like whats happening. My marriage is too young to be going through all these.
I am tired, I don't know what to do. Truth be told , your family indeed extorted him . Which one is if you love me , you should go extra mile to have me 😂😂. You are heartless and what if he is your brother , will you ever forgive such wife? You don’t even care if he went to steal cos on norms you should have asked him before now how he was able to sort the bills. Even if you marry another man and still put up such attitude, he still won’t love you again like before because I just Dey imagine how you will know your husband income and still make him go through that . If it’s me Walahi I no go obtain 1 naira loan. For my wedding , I did not borrow 1 naira and I made it clear I’m planning with what I have personally and not even what my sibilings gave me to add . MetaBroadband: Good morning mature men and women in the house. Please I need your help on this topic.
My Fiancee told me about how her biological dad abandoned her and her mum after getting her mum pregnant.
Her mum later married another man who adopted her as his child.
Now she's grown and I've proposed to her, I wanted to go for her official introduction and list collection.
Would it not be nice to hear the biological father's opinion? Should I just ignore the fact that the man is still alive and proceed with the marriage arrangement?
Although she said I should not bother about that, but this is Nigeria and as an Akwa Ibomite I don't think it's proper. Although she's against me trying to find out about the man's opinion. Should I care?
What can you say about this?
Note: she only told me that the man abandoned them, but what if it was her mum that actually took her away? Meet with her father. Had same issue as yours so that’s what I did. Though the man didn’t even show up for the wedding but he asked us to pick a date before the wedding to come see him and bless us. Shikena. I Dey even call him to say hello sometimes. |
