Soo many funny comments, i cant help smiling while reading through.

Op lets get some facts clear, vaginal examination is rarely done during routine antenatal visits unless its ABSOLUTELY necessary. As a matter of fact, it can induce labour prematurely, and ofcos we dont want that.

That said, i think you need a change of perception about this whole thing. Doctors are professionals and whether you like it or not, some day your wife is going to part her legs on the doctor's table. Those clamouring for female gynae or whatever are somewhat being naive. Wait till your wife has a critical condition, then you realise your wife's well being rather than the doctor's gender is all that matters.

Wow! You are not even a doctor and I've been thinking I was talking to one. Now I know you are not a doctor, I have nothing to discuss with you.

Your opinion does not place food on my table. You are free to believe anything that tickles your fancy. It takes a doctor to know one.

Sexual molestation? Dude, seriously? Why are you so negative? I'm just trying to tell the guy that the VE is normal in pregnancy, though not routine, and here you go with your hulalabull of labour and bleeding. What message are you trying to pass to the guy that asked the question? You want to scare him enough to beat up any doctor that tries a VE on his pregnant wife when you know it can be indicated in some cases? Or you just want to tell us you know the possible complications of VE in pregnancy? Dude you might be a doctor, but you need to learn how to talk to and alleviate the fears of your patients.

With all due respect I disagree with some of the points you raised. Our discussion has nothing to do with alleviating patients fear. I'm imagining what will make a Dr to do a VE during a normal antenatal visit. I may not have every info with me. BTW, we did not hear Dr's side of the story. But I have seen cases of abuse by Drs in this regard. Some discuss it openly. I only want Drs to be more responsible and conduct themselves professionally. This might happen to your wife. We should call a spade a spade. I refuse to be a party to any cover up. The bad eggs of the profession must be identified and shamed. I apologise for using 'sexual molestation'.

Clinical pelvimetry, though not routinely done, accesses the passage.

We are saying the same thing. Passage alone does not determine the progress of a labour because the fetal head is known to mold during decent. Do you routinely assess the passage during antenatal care? We may be dealing with sexual molestation here. Doing VE might induce labour or trigger severe bleeding in placenta previae. It is rarely indicated in a normal pregnancy. Besides pelvimetry is done from 36 weeks of gestation.

Food / Re: 7 Things Not To Do After A Meal by ACM10: 6:01pm On Feb 18, 2015
2undexy:
[s]Below are seven dangerous act to avoid after a meal.

1. Don't smoke.
Experiments from experts shows that smoking a ciggarette after meal is equivalent to smoking ten ciggrettes. (chances of cancer is higher).

2. Don't eat fruits immediately.
Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore, take fruits 1-2 hours after meal or 1 hour before meal.

3. Don't drink tea.
Because tea leaves contains a high content of acid. The substance will cause the protein contents in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

4. Don't loosen your belt.
Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked. It's better to do that before eating or don't do it at all.

5. Don't bathe.
Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hand, legs and body, thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This could weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. Don't walk about.
People always say that after meal, walk a hundred steps and you will live till you become 99 years of age. In actual fact, this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7. Don't sleep immediately.
The food we intake will not b able to digest properly. Thus will to gastric and infection in our intestine.[/s]

Please tell them it's called clinical pelvimetry.

You forgot that there are 3Ps that determine successful delivery(power, passage, and passenger). So clinical pelvimetry is rarely necessary

it's called vaginal examination, and it is part of the clinical examinations for pregnant women, it is not routine, and not always done during every antenatal visit but only when it's indicated. we doctors are professionals and should not be associated with lewdness.

There are very few indications for vaginal examination during antenatal care. Doctors seldom do it during routine antenatal care. Doctors only check for:

1. General condition of the pregnant woman.

2. Measure the symphysiofundal height.

3. Examine the gravid uterus for lie, presentation, etc

4. Check for fetal heart rate.

The doctor may request for obstetric scan.

So, this may be a classic case of molestation. Moreover, every examination must be done in the presence of a female chaperone.

Rocktrust:
I am a lawyer but I am always careful about giving legal advice on such emotional family issues without hearing a little from the other side.

I would advice you seek out his parents, pastors, respected friends or a counsellor to intervene to restore both of you and regularize the marriage.

For the sake of your innocent little child, I will not incite you to anything trashy cos it will not help matters in any way.

The man has committed no offence under Nigerian law. You are both not legally married and you have not accused him of rape which led to the pregnancy. You both had voluntary sex among consenting adults so I assume you were very much aware of the consequences of unprotected sex with someone who is not your legally married husband.

I am very willing to offer you free legal service in your case but limited to compelling your baby daddy to arbritration discussions to agree on child custody, alimony for maintenance of the child or regularizing the marriage.

If you are interested, contact me on 08058775690, 0802430820 or mail to: rocktrustsolicitors@yahoo.com

It's lawyers like you that are the problem with Nigeria. Always willing to turn the law upside down. In this first place, this is a civil case. So I don't know why you should introduce the term "offence". Secondly, you exonerated the father of all his obligations as the father. Thirdly, mentioning unprotected sex is uncalled for.

Do you even know about child support services? I can never hire a lawyer like you.

Provided you can prove that the accused is your baby's biological father. Then your problem is half solved. Baby born out of wedlock are granted the same right as the baby born within a family. Nigerian law granted them that protection.
If your baby's daddy is rich, then your problem is 99% solved. Just get a competent lawyer and the father will be forced to pay monthly child support. Please ignore those that are trying to discourage you. It can be done here in Nigeria. All the best.
