Why do you allow this?
PoliticsRe: Are Nigerian Builders Stupid? Why Can't We Make Houses With Bricks Or Wood? by Aconomist(op): 7:34pm On Dec 05, 2020
PharoahIII:
Firstly, the costs associated with building brick walls will be too astronomical, the volume of a 9 inch CMU is nearly 17 times that of a standard brick, which means that it would take 17 times more bricks to build a house than blocks. Now don't forget that walls made of bricks are almost always double-skinned, that is 2 layers of wall joined with mortar. So that means more and more and more mortar. Also the labour costs will be too high, imagine how much bricklayers will charge for laying 17 times more bricks! Not forgetting transportation costs of getting the bricks to the site, as more trips would be required. Thirdly clay bricks are expensive to make, well in Nigeria at least due to the epileptic power supply, as the clay will have to be baked in a kiln for days. Granted there are other alternative energy sources but that's topic for another day. Also in a tropical climate as yours using brick walls will be too hot as brick walls do appear to hold heat better than concrete blocks.
As for wood, well all I can say is that the wood used abroad are 'engineered' to give it maximum strength. Do in conclusion Nigerian builders are not stupid
Then explain to me how they are able to make full brick houses for just $8,000 -- or 3 million naira in Rwanda. Here are the building plans, if you are interested.

http://madeingreatlakes.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/CAT-MODERN-BRICK-SOLUTIONS-Draft-Third-Edition-Beta-Version2.pdf

Imagine getting beautiful houses like these for just $3 - $6 million naira. This is what it looks like when builders use their brains.

There goes another conditioned, self hating black man who goes around calling black people "monkeys".

Do you actually realize you're racially abusing your own self and your mother and your family by using such terminology?

Lemme guess...That obvious fact simply flies over your head.

Talk about Dumb and Dumber.
What "conditioned" me to hate black people? Was it the relentless failure and incompetence? The pathetic and brainless leadership? The stagnation and stupidity, or the inability to use creativity to solve problems?

Where can you find a pretty house like this in Nigeria for 3 million? Clay brick is cheaper and better looking than this horrible cement nonsense you are building. Use brain!

I agree. Our cities look so horrible with all those horrible rusting roofs. It's humiliating to be African right now.

Since wen is building a house with wood seen as progress, i think our cement and block houses look perfect as they ar. Do u think they build tall buildings and skyscrapers built with wood
They do. Look at what they have built in Europe. Wood buildings are better because there is less stress on the foundation, which means they won't collapse. Typically, in the U.S. and Europe they use concrete for the foundation and wood or red brick for the building.

PoliticsAre Nigerian Builders Stupid? Why Can't We Make Houses With Bricks Or Wood? by Aconomist(op): 2:31pm On Dec 05, 2020
Every day you hear about another building collapse in Nigeria. This happens because it is too expensive to build a cement foundation that will be strong enough to sustain the weight of a multi-story cement building. Instead of using expensive Dangote cement, Nigerian builders should learn to work with wood or clay bricks like builders do in the United States and Europe.

Wood and clay are plentiful natural material that don't need to be imported. These materials are also significantly lighter than cement, which reduces the strain on the foundation and also enables more elegant designs. Wood also lasts just as long as cement, regardless of tropical climate. Below, you will see pictures of wooden/clay brick buildings in Nigeria that have lasted for over 100 years while the cement buildings collapse. Nigerians need to learn how to use brains to solve problems or Africa will always be the laughing stock of the world.

The brazilian houses of lagos have lasted for over 100 years, despite being constructed of wood and clay bricks.

hundreds of Hausa are dying every day in Nigeria, but the media never reports it because the killers are Fulani. Hasuas are slaves in your own land. Worthless people.

Stop crying for a savoior and save yourself. They didnt stop making guns when they made them. The last option is splitting from Kaduna and joining another state. Who ever is demographically similar join them.
This isn't just Southern Kaduna people. All Nigerians seem to act so pathetic and helpless when it comes to these Fulani herdsmen. If it was me I would just gun them down. Problem solved.

your topic is nonsense...

in case you did not know, before the civil war each region kept at least 50% of its income with the remaining going to the federal government... so your nonsense plan and topic was already in effect before 1966 when your fellow Igbo ancestors abolished it.

like LukasPodolski and T9ksy have already commented, most of you igbos don't mean the Yoruba nation well. and in case you missed their comments that point to this then read them below...
If you are pro Oduduwa Republic, I support you 100%. East and West don't have to be one country. My problem is with "one Nigeria".

The average price per floor for Chicago is about $6.2 million; for Shanghai it’s about $3.7 million per floor. For New York, on average, it costs about $15 million per floor. Or in other words, for a cost of $20 million per floor (on average), you can get a 65-story skyscraper in New York, They are a lot thing that drives cost
Abuja is not New York. New York is expensive because of how built up the area is making it harder to bring your machines to the site, etc. also expensive permits and regulations. The cost of labor in New York is over $100,000 a year for construction workers -- not to talk of insurance.

Abuja is not a crowded area so it should be very cheap to build there. The only thing that would drive up the cost is overpriced Dangote cement and imported steel.

Thanks to Dangote tomato paste wants to reach astronomical levels

Rather than have a monopoly system I prefer to have multiple Importers than sell the country to a thief

I support systems not people. Unfair business people

An Ijebu business man is building the second largest refinery, BUA is also building. Modular ones are coming up, petrol. Is phasing out. Delta state is building state of the art petrochemical industries. SE is partnering with Hyundai to create massive refinery

I support healthy business systems not fraudster's who hyperinflation their company portfolio to raise investors emotions, steal their funds, then decline their real value so investor funds remains in negative for even 10 years even with dividends inclusive while they use the cash to build their company and then record madd financial portfolio. This was what Dangote did. If he near me I go expose am

I'm not your average Nigerian. I'm not stvpid
If you want to talk about tomato paste, an oyibo woman from the U.S. has joined the market.
