Since it's a prototype, and the guys who design this often come to this thread (I believe). I can give my recommendations to them.

1. Obviously shift the compartments levels up, even by another extra 250mm

2. The compartments should not be welded on the hull, the hull becomes compromised during blasts. They should rather modular fit them, during blasts the little spacing passes off some blast energy BUT when the blast is bigger they fly off without damaging the hull.... Also, they're easily replaced when damaged by RPGs (at a distance) or small arms.

3. The location of the exhaust system (between the wheels) should be changed if they consider crossing rivers with the vehicle.

15 inches, same as the ARA MRAP.

The ARA is 25mm ground clearance at 6.8m length , the Cougar is 410mm clearance at 5.9m

The Cougar Ridgeback is shorter but with higher ground clearance than the ARA..

Should have rather let it go. Perhaps point it out a few days from now, not while everyone is celebrating.

Maybe not, I only pointed it out because the phrase "1st prototype" was used.

Note that I take nothing away from the vehicle, I only pointed out the midsection suspension being a concern.... If you may look into the front of the vehicle, the suspension is good. The designers got carried away with the compartments and fitted them too low between the wheels and probably forgot about how long the wheel base is.

Again, as they said they have a provision for 7 more prototypes which is more than excellent.

These 2 pictures may kindly explain.

- Pic 1, note the suspension of the RG 31 Mk5, a similar class vehicle. Note those obstacles the vehicle passes through. (that's just for show, testing is done on something bigger)

- Pic 2, note this vehicle flatting an incline. Only high suspension vehicles (on longer wheel base) pass this basic test.

As you said, it's a prototype and field testing is yet to be done and modifications would be expected which is perfectly fine.

The compartment fittings are too low for a vehicle that has a longer wheel base like this... It affects obstacle climbing tests.

AK seems u were reading minds. Actually I was thinking the same thing but more of such like the PROFORCE ARA is coming in the Air and on the Seas that we might not be talking of the Gripen for quite some time

Do you even know what you're talking about? That's a V-shape hull so it doesn't matter where on the hull the explosion hits, the crew survives.

I noticed how the Nigerian Army never uses airborne units. Those would have been useful to:

- Launch surprise raids in Boko Haram territory
- Destroy crucial strategic infrastructure that is mostly hidden deep inside their held territory.
- Launch a second front when the ground forces are on the assault or to cut off BH from escaping or ambush their possible reinforcement.

Everytime I see the Algerian navy Mekos I become like a jealous kid who was spoiled for years only to have a sibling later to share the candy with... Once upon a time, that was the an exclusive SAN signature frigate. The naval world new who these frigates belonged to without any caption on it.

Wonder what became of this tank. It's not at the FAPLA/FAA museum in Luanda, unlike most of the SADF vehicles they captured.

Kubinka Museum in Russia has some Angolan "spoils of war", maybe it ended up there.

Now that you mention it.. This tank was used as propaganda extensively. You had different Cuban soldiers posing next to it, in it and on top just to have those series of pictures published to make it look like more than one tank was "captured" when it actually abounded on a mine field.

Pah! Experience Battletek IV and you'll never go anywhere near stripped-down civvie sims again. And they've just developed Battletek V with VR goggles and everything. Suffice to say, I doubt we'll be getting Battletek V anytime soon. It's serious 1st world stuff with concomitant 1st world prices. And then the practicalities: our version of Battletek IV mirrors Chaka, so that we train as we fight and fight as we train (since replicated completely by the Malaysians and Brazilians and partially by the Angolans –for various reasons they’re only using it for their special forces). Battletek V would entail major upgrades to Chaka so as to retain the current symbiosis - upgrades currently we neither need nor can afford.
In other sim-related news, we’ve completed jointness integration across all 4 services which means JOps can now fuse all sim platforms into a coherent single military view. Ditto the operational environment through a fused C2 structure.
And then there are people who think simulation is nothing more than video game-playing!

I wonder how tactically relevant is foreign training to local African conflicts. Eg, such "close pack" movement would likely be discouraged by direct RPG and HMG fire which is a reality in these parts of the world vs maybe France... One wonders.

Not if you're going to write a report on how you and your team lost a battle or a mission. This is not "boys are having a good time with beer" kinda moment. There's shouting, frustration, vehicle shakes on hydrolics and the possibility of it being virtually stuck in a "donga" or fall off or roll because of bad navigation. Then you'll have to prepare a report on how you lost a multimillion dollar vehicle with Ingwe missiles onboard.(remember everything is recorded)

If you're in that Badger simulator, you'll be physically shaken by the virtual terrain with a possibility of physical nausea. A team member would perform his best for a possible higher ranking position, the vehicle shooter will likely to refine his skill because who wants a low accuracy hit probability on his real life score point. There's hundreds of soldiers gunning for a recommendation, so you don't screw up every chance you get (simulator included).
