I don't think so, wars don't start overnight, it takes time to build up, i can assure you that Nigeria's military assets will be upgraded and if there isn't enough time to train our own people, then those equipment will be manned by foreign soldiers, and SA will also upgrade hers.
So all these silly comments is a waste of time, we are wasting time on something that will never happen. And i mean Never. Neither country possesses the capability

About the Submarine, it doesn't make sense having a single sub so I'm sure there's plan for more. This money isn't from the navy budget but a special funding so NN should compliment whatever hardware she needs with her own share of the national cake.

Me and you know that you won't directly send a provocative fleet in our waters unless you mean war which our boys are trained for.

See, South Africa killed Cuban troops in Angola in large numbers but they never attempted to ask for the Soviets to bring a fleet down south despite them taking body bags back to Cuba every other month.... They obviously knew something you don't.

First the SADF is not the SANDF, far from it. Secondly Submarines are prey (very important you understand that) and yours are not Nuclear powered an even greater disadvantage. And what is half your fleet? Your entire active fleet is smaller than the Nigerian Navy. Methinks first you don't know this or you downplay it's efficacy in Total War: Nigeria invests in infrastructure that makes sense and gives it advantage. You don't have that capability. Only Nigeria has it in the entire Africa. We know the position of your ships and potentially your subs even before we sail. You don't stand a chance.

94, what changed with the SADF was nothing but the uniform and the "N"... Same gear until 2006. The current leadership grew from the old SADF, all members of the ANC MK had to undergo SADF military tactics before integration.... All military doctrines since the days of the Union Defence Forces till jungle warfare are taught. The current armour crew knows all about the UDF tactics deployed against the Italians to the recent ones against the Cubans in Angola etc.

As for you having infrastructure we don't, I won't even go there because it's just imagination playing thick tricks on you.

Again, explain to me how your NN will shame 4 stealth frigates and 3 submarines?

Naval Science dictates that an expeditionary fleet sails with an escort of vessels with capabilities for anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine capabilities. It's like when you see the US Navy's 7th fleet sailing for invasion. Something like that is what Nigeria is replicating in Africa. A blue water expeditionary fleet.

If there's a Nigerian Navy officer in the forum I simply wanna ask what kind of interest does the SSV serve in the navy considering the following:
- The NN currently has no defensive and offensive capacity/capabilities.
- The SSV only carries 3 helicopters and can hardly carry armour of any serious support to the 500 troops it carries.

I'm not trying to bash anyone, I'm trying to find logic behind the acquisition. Thanks

I smell a military invasion after the death of Bob. I believe there's gonna be a some infighting for power, war veterans taking different sides eventually spilling to the military... They often say I crave for blood but I say a SADC invasion will be better than dealing with a low intensity civil war, who wants to deal with the refugee mess? Definitely not South Africans.

The new F-35 fighter will cost taxpayers more than 95 million dollars each, with a standing order for over 2,000 of these planes, an estimated 1.1 trillion dollars initial order.

All we need is just 10 of those aircrafts to fill-up the lift gap while the USAF leaves them to rust.

It uses IR, however it also uses HUD built-in on the pilot's helmet. It goes where he looks.

I agree to building up the Frigate/Corvette fleet and the Submarine is still many years away anyway.

Henry's obsession with submarines is for "look at us, we have a submarine too".

Everything you acquire in the short-term has to be serviced and maintained in the long-term. As soon as BH is history, policy makers will look the other way and the military funds will dry out. Then whatever equipment bought during the war will become a burden with potential of accumulating rust.

When you buy, you buy wisely and buy what you need for the medium and long-term.

Maybe they'rent. The Leo 2s he's referring to were actually gonna be purchased. Remember the Olifant MK2 still needs to be replaced, whatever firing modifications done on them were just for the meantime... Same goes for the A400M and airtanker...... If you remember that we talked about 7 new navy vessels for years while you and Augububu laughed about it... Bang, the 7 new vessels are coming.

Some countries don't have the same level of outcry as South Africans. South Africans want everything and anything to be done by the state, free education with free learner books and free stationery, free healthcare, free freeways blah blah blah.

South Africa would have afforded having the military that was suggested by the Defence Review before the Arms Deal if it wasn't for the over spending in education. 20% of the country's national budget goes to the DoE, WTF? No country under the sun does that.

I say SAAF buy a squadron of these and have them for coastal and border surveillance... Throw in the CSIR EW kits and replace the Dakota.
