A driving instructor, Festus Udoh, has narrated how he lured a 23-year-old National Youth Service Corps member, Miss Modupe Kawose, into a bush at Mawuko, in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State. He said he raped and strangled her in the bush. Kawose had registered in a driving school, Lizzy Driving School, while the suspect worked with the outfit. The suspect was paraded at the scene of the crime on Thursday by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed. Udoh said the victim called him on Saturday, demanding her learner's permit, and he told her to join him at Lafenwa in Abeokuta. The suspect said when the victim arrived, he told her that he had resigned from Lizzy Driving School, and that she should follow him to the place where the learner's permit would be processed. He said, “We boarded a vehicle and later took a motorcycle to Iberokodo. We alighted at a junction near the bush. “She was surprised and she asked, 'is this where you live?' “I said yes, and as we entered the bush, I told her that I wanted to have sex with her, she said no. “I dragged her into the bush and raped her. Afterwards, she told me that she would report me to her family. It was at this stage that I tore her clothes and used them to strangle her.” The state police boss said the command's operatives commenced investigation when it received a 'missing person' letter from the state coordinator of the NYSC, Mr John Okoh. He said, “At the end, we nabbed Udoh.” He said the victim's relations had been contacted. The Kaduna Division of the National Industrial Court on Thursday stopped the planned sack of 21,780 primary school teachers who failed a competency test organised by the state government. Daily Trust recalls that the lawyer representing the teachers, Samuel Atum, had on October 30 filed a motion of “interlocutory injunction”, asking the court to restrain the government from dismissing or disengaging any teacher on the basis of the test conducted in June 2017. The case was earlier adjourned to February 6th, 2018 for hearing. However, at the hearing today which was attended by hundreds of teachers and labour leaders, the lawyer, Mr. Atum, praised the court for “graciously” giving the order. He said, “This is democracy and the premise of democracy is the rule of law, so we expect nothing more than absolute submission by the state government to comply with the order of the court. I have confidence that the government will comply or obey this order.” Lawyers representing the state's Attorney General and the State Government, as well as Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) declined comments when approached by journalists. Some teachers who spoke to our correspondent said the ruling was encouraging. “It has given us hope. We hope too that the governor will obey the court order,” Zainab Sanusi, a teacher, said. It will be recalled that the planned sack of over 20, 000 teachers sparked controversy, condemnation and protests. Some of the scripts released by the government showed that many of the teachers supplied ridiculous answers to basic questions while about two-thirds of the teachers failed to score up to 75 percent in the grading. The Kaduna government has since vowed to sack the affected workers, despite threats by the local chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), to embark on indefinite strike. The government also said it would recruit 25,000 qualified teachers in their stead. Source: https://m.thenigerianvoice.com/news/261068/court-stops-sack-of-21780-kaduna-teachers.html

Source: Dr. Perry Brimah The SaharaReporters caption "Nigeria To Pay Over $50m To Swiss Government And Lawyers As Cost Of Recovering $321m Abacha Loot" brought one thing to the mind: that once again Nigeria loses even as it tries to recover from past looting. What is being recovered from Switzerland is a minute fraction of what Abacha stole and then a microscopic fraction of a fraction of what so many cabal have looted and continue to loot till today. What is quite painful is that we have a president who defended Abacha as not a thief; and who worked for Abacha while people of apparent greater morality like his former deputy, late General Tunde Idiagbon turned down such invitations. Even after death Buhari remains employed in Abacha's defense and publicly prays for and praises the killer thief. Little wonder we hear of similar scale looting being shielded at the presidency, ministries and NNPC today under Abacha's mentee and dedicated fan. Proverbs 29:24 says: Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not. What can we say about the defender of Abacha, Grasscutter Babachir Lawal, $26 billion Baru, $1 million-Borehole-Fashola, Ayodele Oke, Atiku, Obasanjo, Babangida, to mention a few. If the president hateth his own soul, are we not doomed! There is only one way out for Nigeria. The Cabal Must Go. All of them. Otherwise we remain a nation cursed. For Nigeria to grow the cabal must go and they will. Dr. Perry Brimah @CabalMustGo SOURCE https://m.thenigerianvoice.com/news/261012/thank-you-abacha-nigeria-lost-50m-to-get-back-just-one-bit.html

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State says the Federal Government has concluded plan to demolish Jibowu and Costain bridges in Lagos. Ambode disclosed this while addressing participants of the Town Hall Meeting on Security Trust Fund in Alausa, Lagos, on Wednesday. He said the bridges would be demolished by the government to give way for the new rail project. The governor said the project would be executed for the good of the residents and it would increase the economy of the state. “The Jibowu and Costain bridges will give way for the laying of tracks of a Lagos-Ibadan rail project,” he said. Ambode also said that the demolition would give room for a track that would stretch from the old Fela Shrine to WAEC end. According to him, the track will be constructed in such a way that no vehicle crosses it. He said that the traffic would be managed during the project and appealed to people in the state to bear with the situation. On kidnapping, Ambode said plan had been concluded to procure surveillance aircraft that could effectively gather intelligence in parts of the state and assist significantly in dealing with the menace. “It is pertinent to note that these criminals have not relented in their pursuit of evil. We must demonstrate that we are prepared to do whatever it takes to make it difficult for them to succeed in their evil plots. “We will apprehend them and bring them to justice,” he said. Ambode urged people to install CCTV cameras in their organisations to help expand the reach of law enforcement agents in the event of any security breach. “As responsible citizens and worthy stakeholders, you also have crucial part to play for the enhancement of security in the state,” he said. Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Edgal Imohimi, said the introduction of community policing and the increase in police visibility had resulted in 35 per cent decline in crime. Imohinmi, however, said that despite massive contributions by the state security trust fund, dearth of patrol vehicles remained a challenge. “Many vehicles attached to the divisions have become rickety and unserviceable due to old age and over usage,” he said. Imohinmi, however, said the command would not relent in its efforts to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far, but would appreciate if additional critical fighting equipment were provided. He said this would help to improve on the successes so far recorded in the command’s fight against crime and criminality. Also, Secretary of the Security Trust Fund, Abdulrazaq Balogun, said there was need for organisations to engage in consistent and sustainable security model. According to him, this will enhance strategic planning for improved security in the state. 8-year-old Mai Li Fay, from Bangkok, is far from living the usual life of a girl her age. Everyday, thousands of people gather to the front of her family’s house to get a chance of seeing and possibly touching the young girl,a gesture which both buddhists and hindu pilgrims seem to perceive as a guarantee of good fortune. According to the country’s top medical expert, Dr Ping Lao, the young girl suffers a very rare syndrome known as the Serpentosis Malianorcis or Jing Jing’s disease, which gives her lower body a distinct reptilian form and aspect. Only a handful of such cases have been recorded throughout history, so the scientific knowledge accumulated about the pathology is rather limited and there is no cure in sight at the moment. The Fay family have welcomed the situation brought by Mai Li’s situation with a mix of anguish and excitement, as the never ending lines of tourists and pilgrims have brought the badly impoverished family some substantial revenues given them an important raise in their social status but cost them there privacy and intimacy. Guys if i say i am not so shock about this story, meaning am not truthful to myself. What do you think?
