PoliticsRe: 42 Students From Lagos Jet Out For Leadership Training In South Africa. (pics) by adconline(m): 5:18pm On Aug 06, 2010
You don't have to be in Fashola's pocket to know that money spent on education is the best investment money can buy. Would you rather spend it on ignorance like yours?

Just because you and the other grumbling idiots think spending money to educate kids is a waste doesn't mean you are smart, it simply means you're foolish. It's like the other character saying spending money on trash collection is way better than spending money on school kids.

Of course you didn't leave your brain at Alausa, but it's sure buried under your feet. Thank God these kids are not in your mean spirited care.

What other way is there to spend public money if not spending it educating public school kids,

Spending money on public school kids is bad governance? That moronic statement has got to be the lowest and insane absurdity ever. I can't even believe what I'm reading with my eyes. No wonder Nigeria is bleeped up.

These clowns come here everyday talking about bad leadership, but still cry and spit ridiculous nonsense about spending money to give their kids quality education and sound global advantage.

Losers trying to breed more losers,

The problem with your blind support for  Fashola's moves is that you don’t read between the lines. You are easily appeased and have selective amnesia. Most folks here are saying that it's not the most effective cost way of educating 42 students out of millions in the state. Spending money on 42 pupils out of millions is not a good leadership policy to begin with.
The problem I have with folks like you is your attitude toward govt spending of limited public funds. You still think its govt money controlled by Fashola and co and they can do as they wish. Guess what, you are in the hook for all the money these politicians spend or borrow. LASG has a huge debt obligation to its creditors and must be paid or serviced when you and Fashola are gone. Nigerians had your kind of attitude when FG was spending money on Festac, FIFA/CAF, training abroad and owambe parties, finally OBJ had to strike a deal with our debtors and Nigeria paid about $40 billion. The politicians who took these loans and benefitted from them did not pay with their money, but Nigeria's money that should have been used for other projects was used to settle these debts that never benefited a lot of Nigeria.

Is this an exchange programme between RSA educational institution and LSG? Would the participants earn some academic grades that would be transferred into their Naija coursework?
You keep talking about education as if that these kids would not be educated if they did not travel to RSA. Please stop insulting Nigerian with your low mental capability. What's the correlation between attending a leadership programme in RSA and smashing 9 As in WASC/NECO and over 300 JAMB?
Nigerians cried foul when Naija governors wanted to travel to the US for a leadership program that was supposed to be hosted by Harvard University. Are u saying that nothing could have been learned from this botched conference?  Off course, there is something to be learned, but at what cost to Niaja masses? But this is Naija where private gains trump public benefit. We are talking about  the opportunity cost of this RSA leadership training.
PoliticsRe: 42 Students From Lagos Jet Out For Leadership Training In South Africa. (pics) by adconline(m): 10:16pm On Aug 05, 2010
Misguided and myopic views like yours is one of the reasons why the program is very important. Some of you have shallow, sorry and can't do spirits views about yourselves and other people, you don't believe in other people's will and capacity to do good just because you have been subjected to bad leadership. You think there's nothing good on the other side of the fence, but you've never been to the other side of the fence, you don't know anything about the other side of the fence, yet you think you are better than the other side and the other side should should learn from you.

Have you or any other Nigerian competed with any SA debating team? Of course not. It's like going to war with with zero knowledge and understanding per your enemy's capabilities. But you're here beating your chest and claiming to be superior. Is their education system not better than yours? Are their schools, colleges and universities not better than yours?

Please curb your foolish and dangerous arrogance. Even going by your upside down analogy, is it not a good thing that our kids know all about them while they know nothing about ours?

These kid are in a better position to find out and learn a lot of things and return to share their experience with their mates and their respective constituencies.

There's no need to misplace your bad leadership anger and deprive innocent kids of needed breaks and opportunities to succeed in life.

Beyond NL, what's there to complain about? The program was set up by state and international agencies and approved by the Governor and the legislature.

A paid and rented out portion of your brain cannot allow you to think. Not everyone is in Fashola's pocket like you. The point most folks are expressing here is that it's not a cost disciplined way of spending public resources. I wonder if those kids have been to NASS, DMO, NDA and some other Naija institutions? Dont believe that everyone on NL has left his brain at Alausa b4 coming here to make his points. Fashola is god of governance in Lagos to you , because you have got a mediocre sense of accomplishment that doesn't weigh costs VS delivery. Blame legacy costs of bad leadership for you warped views on governance.

The fact that Ohakim took some kids to RSA during WC doesnt mean that he  didnt waste  public funds.  The problem with Nigeria is that  we dont have a comparative benchmark for accountability and good governance. ie  We have always known bad leadership, so our sense of measurement revolves from bad to worse.

We like to portray what we are not.  Granted that those kids looked good on those well tailored suits, could Fashola and co provide similar uniforms of the same quality to all the primary and high schoolers in the state if the state has got so much money to blow? I wonder how  many students from Kwazulu Natal province from RSA have been sent to Nigeria to learn leadership skills, or our literary skills? Better leadership skills could be learned from our leaders when they start  doing the right  things.

But he plays roles in removals, especially when it comes to Ndigbo.

I relocated once to the US for so days, One of the women likely decieve me, she had 2 kid. US women are smart. She pretended like a sister with no children. It was one africa american friend that saved me, he got to know she had 2 children. They can make you pay child support for children that is not yours. The first thing that made me believe this friend, was I remember this lady told me, If she married me, I was going to use condom. How can you marry someone and use condom. How do you have children??. Can you be married and be using condom, when I was not impotent. I know after 9 month, her phone would never stop ring from africa, sending her anionted oil. Even some people would send your traditional medicine. For an african that was funny. African dont use condom when they are marriage. that why we are many. When we think of 40 children in africa. Someone telling me of condom. So dont be desperate, wait for the right person. dont be desperate

Even over here , you still find a woman, who will marry you for real and get your papers. so why look for fake marriage.

Have the state govt where he is operating from at the moment invested in them? Why aren't most South Eastern,South Southern state investing in them at the moment, the Rivers, Calabar etc etc just commissioned thousands of buses imported from Brazil and elsewhere,
please state govts out of this, IVM does not need them as investors, but rather as customers. If they invest, they wield political influence which opens door to mago mago and jibiti. Let them go and manage ANAMCO. Peter Obi should order TRACAS to order about 100 buses for a pilot programme.

Serious?! Do hospitals sit exams these days?
Abeg, tell us where they go to sit the exams, who the exam board is and what the rules and dates are. Nonsense.

Pharoh has made the only sensible comparative post.

You should have asked yourself these questions!!
The more you talk, the more you expose your idiocy. How did you and Papbrowne conclude that  Delt State has got the best teaching hospital in Africa? Who made you an authority to call it the best hospital? In this context, the word best comes after a competition, comparison, exam, ranking etc. You alluded to Papabrowne challenging the hospital ranking I posted without  providing a contrary web link to support your claim that Delta state has got the best hospital in Africa. Your argument is absurd. A methodology was used in ranking of the hospitals acording to the website while you are yet to show me  any hospital ranking that puts Delta state on African map.
EducationRe: Are Nigerian Universities Always Dirty by adconline(m): 6:39pm On Jul 27, 2010
The universities in Nigeria produce brilliant students poor as the universities are. If the universities improve the students will be even better.

what's making you so hot and bothered in that sentiment ?

Useless sentiments! When a few of Naija universities are on Africa's top 100 best universities how do you produce best students to compete with folks from Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, RSA,Brazil, malaysia etc
PoliticsRe: This Is How Uduaghan Spends Delta States Money by adconline(m): 6:31pm On Jul 27, 2010

You should have posted information on the 'best teaching hospital in africa' , not links that say nothing.
If you have comparative info, I'll be glad to see it to help make my mind up.

I also do not see how those links you posted negate this post, which you seem to have a quarrel with;

I thought I posted a link with the best teaching hospital in Nigeria. Anyway, ranking takes precedence over best. You have to be ranked before you are called the best. It's like saying that James Ibori is the richest man in Africa without any ranking to prove your point. Or The Fed Govt College in Ibuzor has produced the best UME candiate in Nigeria while the student has not taken the exam.
EducationRe: Are Nigerian Universities Always Dirty by adconline(m): 5:45pm On Jul 27, 2010
Still, those universities seem to produce brilliant people. Nigerians educated in those run down places always seem to excel compered to those educated in say Ghana or South Africa. Find a top Nigerian anywhere in the world for some reason their formative years began in Nigerian university. Perhaps having little access to resources, undergrads in Nigeria are/were forced to read entire volumes of works instead of having excepts pointed out to them that would form the bases of exams as pertains at English universities and institutes of higher learning.

@papabrowne

Please collect back all the tuition fees you paid, because your lecturers didn't teach right!! From what I see here, you wasted money.
If you read my post again, you would see that I stated clearly "best teaching hospital" and the criteria I used is "facilities and structures".The hospitals you've listed, are they teaching hospitals? ? Now you really do need to go back to school.
Secondly, the hospital in question was commissioned last month, so using an outdated webometrics ranking discredits your post automatically.

Pay a visit there and in a second , your opinions would change instantly.

What a replica of idiocy!! In your retarded mind you concluded that the governor built the best  teaching hospital in Africa and you failed to show me the ranking. YOU did the ranking by your imaginative mind not by a credible ranking agency. The Naija listed hospital -ECWA is a teaching hospital. It looks like the governor paid you as his PR machine and you have done a terrible job. Who made you  an authority in hospital ranking to  even utter those clueless posts. Go do your research if you can ,cos I'm allergic to unsubstantiated and bogus claims.

If you know anyone in Africa that is better, please let me know its name.

I dont blame you when you get your information from Delta State Broadcasting Service which by your imagination is the best and biggest TV/Radio network in Nigeria and NTA which is the largest TV network in Africa according to NTA propaganda and your figment of imagination.

30 hotels, 10 stadia, power stations, housing estates, cutting edge railways, 160,000 jobs, and

Lets analysis this statment one by one.

30 Hotels :No where in the world does goverment build and run hotels. I would be shocked to know that SA, the economic power house of Africa has resulted to this archeic and barbaric way of running a goverment  where the Goverment builds and maintain Hotels. This is a  private money territory, I am not too sure Jacob Zuma built 30 hotels this statement is a fallacy and should be discounted as rantings of a mad man. ( The only country in the world where Goverment still builds Hotels is Naija.

You are right on this one, but  OP was implying that 30 hotels were built as result of RSA hosting the WC.

10 Stadia - In the UK and the USA, Govemrnets do not own stadia, but on this occasion being an African Country without any Known club which can pay the cost of building the stadia in a short number of years I am inclined to believe that the SA Goverment bankrolled this project.

Go ask Japanese and Korea govts that hosted 02 edition why they built stadia. Could you also tell us if UK govt is building sports facilities for 2012 London Olympics. Some stadia in the west are owned by govt. Wembly  in UK, Soldiers field in Chicago, Georgia Dome and Lousiana dome are owned by their respective state governments.  In places where govts are not directly involved, they cut taxes , offer tax credit, and tax exemption to builders.

Power House- In most developed countries it is private capital domain, the goverment might give incentives to would be investors but not to outrightly built a power station to run. It is bound to end in tears and fundermental losses, I beg to differ on this, I would not expect the Joseph Zuma's Govement to build, operate and maintain power houses in SA, this is another fallacy which should be discounted.

ESKOM is owned by RSA. French government also owns  it's power  company.

Housing Estates - In most deveolped countries in the world it is a private enterprise domain. In SA, there is a huge disparity between the rich and the poor, the SA Goverment might build new estates in other to transfer the holdings to poor blacks as a social hosing scheme after the games, this is necessary and understandable because of the prevaling poverty in the ghetto's one cannot rule out an ANC covert programme of enpowering poor blacks, this I would not discount as it might be an incentive for the poor to get unto the property ladder.
Are normally privately run in most wastern countries, but the fact it was Goverment run even in the UK about 20 years ago, SA being a new democracy and determined to host the World Cup, I would not rule out Govewrment intervention. This project I would bet is 100% Goverment funded but may be transfered to private organisation after the games. It is necessary for fans to transfer between games and if private funds is not forth-coming fast enough the Goverment might step in by taking the bull on the horn by funding the project in other to avoid embarassing herself.

Are council homes/flats owned by private businesses in the UK? Projects are still owned govts in the US

On the other hand, OBJ might have awarded the contracts of the electricity project to crooked people who only not inflated the contract but did a runner after collecting mobilization fee from the goverment. How does the Presidency tell the whole world they have just being swindled by a bunch of fast thinking 419.

I was once taking for a ride whilst building a pumping machine in my motrher's abode.  After the best part of N65,000.00 has being spent by me the project was  as bad as I met it. No water in the house, pumping machine packed up after swithing it on for the first time. I said to myself if I spent £250.00 in the UK I will see what I spent the money on but alas in Naija the sitiuation is completely different. OBJ is not a saint and I am not in anyway exnonerating him but the fact is, he was swindled by political associate who he cannot point a finger at.

Conclusions: OBJ would have done what Zuma did when face with the prospect of hosting a world cup. I don' t think Zuma was any better than OBJ nor cleverer. The issues at stake are completly different.

What a lame excuse? Maybe you did not understand the sarcastic  comparison from the OP. RSA used their resources to produce tangible results that are benefitting most people while OBJ squandered $billions without anything to show for. You are talking about a hypothetical scenario that would present another opportunity for both leaders to showcase their management prowess, but we are sticking with what history has served us. OBJ was president for 8 years and misused public funds for his selfish gains. Where does the buck stop? Why did OBJ allow himself to be swindled by political ssociates? Why wasn't Zuma swindled by his political associates? Or maybe OBJ was prone to swindling and Zuma was allergic to it?
