News Corp  the parent of FOX second largest share holder is King Alwaleed of Saudi , the founder of Kingdom Holding. They just need folks who cannot think to vote for them . Unemployment is still an issue neither of the party has a solution for it and they are talking about zoning which is clearly a local issue.  I was so shocked yesterday to read that Ken Mehlman came out of the close as gay. He was  a Republican National Committee Chair who campaigned  for Bush in 04 elections on social issues like gays in the military, and gay marriage. He was openly against anything gay and denied that he was  gay in order to win elections. It really takes loss of conscience to  be a politrickian.

PoliticsRe: Steady Electricity Supply In Nigeria Reduces Operational Cost Of Firms, Families by adconline(m): 8:20pm On Aug 24, 2010
What I can gathre from the above is that we should be getting free or subsidised electricity. That will never work, end off.
Nigeria gives more subsidies through our planlessness, eg the population does not pay taxes. What greater subsidy can there be than not paying taxes?

This year, for the first time in its history, the NNPC has been audited and reorganised in such a way that it is serving Nigeria, rather than private pockets. We've got to take our steps one at a time. A sovereign wealth fund is being set up so the govt can invest oil money, instead of govt foolishly spending as has been the case up to now. But these changes take time, however, it is sure that they are being delivered.

How much taxes do folks in Venezuela , Kuwait, Saudi, Iran, Libya and UAE pay? Are their citizens not better than Nigerians? Are their govts not more efficient than Nigeria? OBJ invested $16 billion on NEPA, yet we are worse off. Was the money spent on subsidy? No , it went into private pockets. The problem with Naija is not subsidy, but clueless and greedy politicians who pocket over 80% of public funds into private accounts. Good governance is a precursor to taxation. Danjuma made $500 million from an oil well and we are talking about govt subsidy on petroleum products for over 150 million folks . There is their so called subsidy because the govt has refused to build power grid, and transmission lines to power businesses and homes in Nigeria. If this is done, there would be less demand for petroleum products. Talking about power, French and South African govts own their power companies, are they not better than Nigeria? Nigeria with 150 million folks generates less than 10% of what RSA's Eskom generates about 45,000 MW.
PoliticsRe: Steady Electricity Supply In Nigeria Reduces Operational Cost Of Firms, Families by adconline(m): 4:37pm On Aug 24, 2010
News flash, Nigeria is a poor country and the money the government spends on subsidising the gross and corrupt inefficiency of the petroleum sector (NNPC et al) is money that could be sunk into capital projects like infrastructure which would attract more investment from the private sector that would better run these sectors, employ people, create an environment where business can grow, and ultimately increase the minimum wage you are so quick to quote. What do you think the fuel subsidies are used for? The system is grossly corrupt and every year billions which could be used to invest in capital projects are thrown into this subsidy blackhole. I think you might want to research a bit more on the issue and why people call for deregulation of the oil sector. At the end of the day if we invest more in refineries and infrastructure, or better yet, allow an enabling environment for the private sector to grow in that sector, then simple market forces will drive prices down. If not why don't you tell me why price of fuel is more expensive in the UK than it is in the states (both of which are developed economies)?

To date, Nigeria has made about $500 billion from oil and doesn't have anything to show for it because it did not invest in public  infrastructure not as a  result of   fuel subsidy, but because of corruption. A govt that  doesn't  take care of  its citizens, no social security, unemployment benefits, epileptic power supply, the list is endless is complaining about subsidy of oil that is dug from our back yard. I'm telling you that oil is not cheap already in Nigeria. If the govt stops their so called subsidies, the  money will go into private bank accounts in Dubai and Switzerland.

Govts give out subsidies all over the world.  UK subsidizes NHS, US govt pays out $.50 for every $1 the US farmers make, Amtrack is US govt run, France controls it energy company, RSA  controls Eskom. In Venezuela govt provides social services to her citizens. Who does my  mum have  for kerosene based on NYMEX ascribed value while she gets paid peanuts in Nigerian Naira? Prices of things will fly because there is no govt public transport system in Naija.

OBJ spent billions in purchasing president jets, a couple of years later GEJ wants to spend about $200  million for the same venture. The problem with Naija is not subsidy, but govt full of  fat cats.  Our daily bpd consumption is less then 200,000 barrels , so  it's drop a  in the ocean if Nigerians  would enjoy our given resources at a reasonable price.  It's like  a fisherman charging his family the highest price his fish could sell in international market even though his family was part of the labor in employed for the fishing.

I don't get why you quoted me and put up the list

Gas price in New York is  $ 2.85, Gas price in Lagos is $1.62. Price differential: $1.23
Minimum wage in NYC is $7.25  per  hour based on 40 hrs work wk of 300  dollars , minimum wage in Lagos per hour is $.05 based on 40 hr work wk of N18,000 per month. Why is gas cheaper in Saudi, Iran and Venezuela.

All well and good but I really can't wait for the whole darn thing to be deregulated and put in private hands with different companies fighting for costumers (same with the petroleum sector too)

truth be told, African  girls dont want to c a situation where their family would be responsible in  paying for the wedding.  Men pay for weddings in most African countries, while the lady's family pays for the wedding in the west.
RomanceRe: My Fiance Says Am Fat. by adconline(m): 4:50pm On Aug 19, 2010
Telling a girl she has to lose wieght is like telling someone to quit smoking. They are both bad for your health.

However, I'm a bit concerned about the man's worries. Is he worried that his wife will look older than he is or that she will have health issues as a result of over weight!

Jeez, men can be really dense sometimes!

BUT  it's OK when you said that a guy who saved N 4 million  for his wedding didnt save  enough money even though his nagging fiancée  didnt contribute a kobo. Would you complain to your fiancé if he has got mouth or body odour?

Micheline, our sister doesn't have to lose weight just for guys, if she does it it's for her or her health, this bad habit some guys have to impose their choice while they date women is unfair and hypocrit, if you don't accept someone or feel uncomfortable with her so pass your way but if you do  don't force her to change as if she was a doll.

If a guy drops mostly his single friends, focuses attention on his new found love, pays less attention to his family because he wants to start a new life. Are u saying that a guy doing all these is foolish? Women also impose conditions on men,  dont hang out with this and that, dont smoke if you do, dont drink and party too much, you are spending too much on unnecessary things, stop cluttering your house, you should stop eating outside and start cooking in your house, the list goes on and on.
What's a bad habit here? Pilling on too much weight above your BMI or someone telling you the truth? I tell my sister that she's fat and should lose weight  and she doesn’t see me as trying to bring her down. Mind you she's married and have got kids, but I dont want to lose her to weight related illnesses.

In fact I said: does she want to be chosen or to choose?

She should be the one dashing out terms and conditions to men, not the other way round.

Besides I am sure she accepted the ugly fellow because she doesn't think she deserves better.

This would apply if she were Monique, but even at that you don’t expect Monique to get hitched by Jamie Foxx or Dwight Howard.   Halle Berry got  a handsome 27 yr old  male model when she was 40, maybe Monique could try that?

show me  a person who is physically  fit and wants to be fat, I will show a million people who are fat and wish to be fit. The world is not coming your way, so  join the race.

RomanceRe: My Fiance Says Am Fat. by adconline(m): 9:14am On Aug 19, 2010
I am actually surprised at some of the feedback here, especially from older members.

Overweight is a big issue, not just for looks, but also for health. It's like someone advising is partner to be careful about smoking, or stress.

My sister the brother is just being straight up with you. Fact is, you need to watch your weight, else that irresponsibility becomes your family's responsibility. All kind of diseases and inflictions arise from being fat, and it becomes HIS responsibility. Understand he's just being straight up with you.

On the other hand, since you have been a bit big since you were a kid, then just maybe, there's not so much you can do about it. if that's the case, then make it clear, there's no forcing, and this is the way you are and gonna be. If he cannot live with that, then better for parties concerned to find a common ground. Key is finding a definate and common ground

Well said. From the sentiments expressed so far, it could be deduced that modern marriages are premised on fall pretence and lies. The option would have been for this guy to lie that he so much loves his girl's curvy body while in fact he does not. It's also clear that most folks would have gone ahead with the wedding plans in spite of this fitness issue that is bugging them.
If not for anything, I would appreciate this guy for his honesty. He's saving a marriage that would have crashed mid way if he had said "I do"
RomanceRe: My Fiance Says Am Fat. by adconline(m): 1:23am On Aug 19, 2010
U really want the truth? U cant handle the truth. Start looking for man who would always hide his feelings, he may appreciate your looks in your presence, but wishes that he would make out a slim/curvy next door. Is it better now he told so that you could call off the wedding or pretend that everything is OK and get hitched and wait for the same old problem to resurface?

lmao, Some nigerians are clearly deluded. what are south African envious off? clean roads? good infrastructure?  National pride should not be the reason why you are reasoning blindly. I can tell you why they hate Nigerians. Some of them hate Nigerians because they believed they are ruining their country especially Johannesburg because of the shady things many of our people do

You are morally impaired to make these statements because you did not have the balls to brandish your Nigerian ancestry when you were in RSA.  It's like  JFK denying his  Irish Catholic ancestry before the Unionist Party. Go and read about how Edward Kennedy played a huge role in  ending the conflict in N/Ireland between Catholics and Protestants. He was in Belfast one summer and was questioned by a stranger why he wasn’t doing enough to end the conflict. He was an American from a wealthy background and could have denied his ancestry, he vowed from that very day to work for peace in N/Ireland. Mind you that it was better to be a Nigerian in that circumstance than to be an Irish.

It might be OK for most Nigerians in RSA to be labeled as drug dealers according to your statements, but you get upset when a security guard follows around in a shopping mall because of your skin colour. Do you get upset when someone implies that you got your job or college admission through Equal Opportunity? Do you get upset when someone implies that you are on life support from welfare?

Did your current Husband Kneel down to pop the the question "WILL YOU MARRY ME" if so, why didnt the  concern for equality creep into your thinking? Why does a man need to bend on his knees when he's proposing, but it's turned  into feminism when a woman bends on her knees to serve her husband a piece of cake?

Britain's empire in Africa developed much later than in India or America. However, Britain had strong links with different parts of Africa long before the 19th century. It began with the slave trade in the 1700s. By the later 1800s Britain had taken control of huge territories in north, central and southern Africa.

Why did the British start by trading in slaves and eventually come to rule vast areas of African land? Look at the background and the sources in this case study and see what you can discover about the motives of the British.

Stop jumping the gun, answer my question squarely please ok?

You have not posed any questions to be answered or have you?  You are sounding like one of Naija's demagogues coached you. My question to you is this. Why  is APGA viewed from your obscure and xenophobic lens as a party that is advocating for Nigeria's break-up because of its regional formation while ANPP and AC are not viewed from the same standpoint not minding the fact they both have the same tribal appeal ?  It seems you are too afraid to finish this debate you started?
PoliticsRe: Fashola - I Can't Be Ribadu's Running Mate - Ac Ticket by adconline(m): 4:12pm On Aug 11, 2010
Now tell me why Non-Igbo should vote for AGPA since AGPA's interest is only for IGBOS?
The point is that you have not answered my questions. Where were you when AD was formed to only protect the interest of only one tribe in Nigeria? Where were you when AD transformed into AC. Why didnt you not complain that no Igbo name has been mentioned in AC names that are flying around. Why is ANPP a northern party? Your sense of one Nigeria is expressed whenever APGA is mentioned? It's either you are xenophobic or a poor student of political events. Nigeria has always had tribal/regional parties. So check your ignorant coat at your computer desktop before coming here to insinuate that APGA wants to break up Nigeria.
APGA has not said that it would protect only the interest of Igbos, so telling them to win all Igbo states is like telling OBJ to win all South western states in 1999 or telling AC to win all south western states. There is no balance in your thought process
PoliticsRe: Fashola - I Can't Be Ribadu's Running Mate - Ac Ticket by adconline(m): 9:06am On Aug 11, 2010
Who's sounding daft now? do you have a stake with AGPA? why the emotion? Undecided

now tell us, what reasons did you give about AGPA being the better of all the parties? Huh

is just having your interest enough for the whole of 150million Nigerians? what if your interest is for Nigeria to break into pieces through the help of AGPA

Stop hiding under cloak of one nation under captivity by politicians. Why are u linking APGA to breaking up of your much cherished Naija into pieces? There is nothing from the poster to warrant your xenophobic statements. You are quick to link APGA to Nigeria's break without saying anything about AC which was a product of AD which fell short of INEC requirements, but was allowed to register anyway, because it was a tribal party that set out to actualize the yearnings and aspirations of one segment of Naija society?
