AMvanquish: It seems you get a kick out of this your statistics. Stats are good, but what is it when you compare it to past norms and reality. You forget kano is not anambra. You also forget the fact in our part of the country ,going to school for a typical mostly rural northerner is not a priority until recently the trend has started to change. Back in my growing up days, whenever we went home, I could count the number of females going to school then. But in the last 10-20yrs , female enrolment has sky rocketed and parents are more embracing of western education. Almost half of my life, the primary school in my hometown used to be 4 blocks of two classrooms. Shekarau came and added another 4 classrooms during his tenure. Kwankwaso added 8 classrooms in the last two years, giving room for more enrolment. Im told he did this in all the 44 local govt's. Also making education free to encourage parents to send their kids to school.

Adult education has been introduced through women affairs ministry in conjuction with various NGO's, and older folks are enrolling in droves.
A new university added and another under construction for only females. Scholarships galore, and this is for both indigenes and non indigenes that were born and grew up in kano. A lot of igbo's that were born in sabon gari apply for those schorlarship.

So keeping churning out the numbers, it used to be worse.

Where not there yet but steadily we will.
So I still say stick to what you know (Numbers).

Frank Nneji is the CEO of ABC and TSS which is bringing the Chinese manufacturer, Shacman while GUO owns the assembly line- Anammco.
Dunno why folks are saying that Shacman is unheard of.. They have not been paying attention.. Their trucks have S-like logo in front of the cabin.

Ikology: He was actually the one that brought the company to it knees, It is foolhardy praising GUO when he is part and parcel of the problems ANAMMCO has suffered for the last decade.

BPE sold to him and Benz AG wanted to be double dipping: ie keeping technical partnership with ANAMMCO while appointing a third party to be selling and serving FBUs ( fully built units) in Naija.. GUO had to fight to protect his investment.. I think the case is still in court.

Formal, Informal or self-education then you need to sue your Teachers and Leaders for deception. Let me even give you examples of great leaders that followe the respective routes:

Formal Education: Bill Clinton, Obama, Cameron etc

Informal Education: Lula da Silva(Immediate Paste President of Brazil), Jacob Zuma, Incumbent South African President

Self Educated: Sir Isaac Newton, George Washington (Who rose to become a Supreme Court Justice and later USA President).

Could you glean some numbers those "projected" but not actual figures to support your argument that education doesn't matter or what? Benchmark for comparison is JAMB and WAEC. He has been governor for 7 years and it takes 6 yrs to train students from JSS1 to SS3..

barcanista: Education/literacy is not all about reading and writing in English language. It is about acquiring knowledge and skills that modifies ones attitude, behaviour and cognition. This change enables the individual to effect solutions to problems for the benefit of the individual and the society. It could come through formal, informal or self-taught means.
