ROSSIKE: And what about you? Worthless unemployed loafer. What have you created? Patriotic Troll on Crack! I'm on supersonic speed g while you are on Keke speed powered by BAJAJ. You can never meet me cos my pace is ur fantasy. Oh your problem is we don't have enough 'billionaires' now is it? Confused DUNCE. When you see those same billionaires now your spiteful lips will release more rubbish in their direction, calling them ''money launderers blah blah'' like you did above. Dunce. How many times have you followed the Inidian PM's entourage to know who is accompanying him on his trade missions? Dumb illiterate, Kenya is not in Nigeria's TOP 100 ''trading partner''. Olodo dropout. Googl university is tuition free Nigeria refines over 50 million barrels of crude in a year, exports far more petroleum products than Kenya ever will http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_expc_dc_nus-nni_mbbl_m.htm and most refineries function at over 60% capacity today, something you don't know, and do not care to know because you are a self hating cretin who hates his heritage and has his nose constantly outside worshiping others blindly. As for the Mombasa refinery, (the sole refinery in East Africa) you must referring to another planet because the co-owners of the refinery, Essar have divested from it amidst financiers abandoning it for lack of economic viability. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/article/2000097818/kenya-shops-for-new-mombasa-refinery-partner Why dont u post real and verifiable Naija data. The EIA does not in way back up your claim. You are a product of failed educational systems. You were not taught logic and critical thinking in school. One refinery in Mombasa, refines and supplies the whole country of Kenya and her neighbors with petroleum products, while all the refineries in Nigeria are below 25% capacity. Kenya exports refined products while Naija imports because we are unable to refine. |
bsuib: Ya i was researching in boko haram language mr english come and teach me english. I u to answer dis simple question are an english man? If no please dont u ever correct me again on anything which has 2 do with english language!Your English is bad and you feel that it's not right to be corrected. You are delusional to think that English is not your language, therefore, I'm not required to improve on my grammatical composition. Our official language is English! Everyone does not have to be as fluent as Soyinka or Achebe, but not knowing how to apply rules of concord, and blatantly saying " it's not my language", is a reflection of how our educational system has produced a generation of ignorant and and uninformed folks. Your stance is self-destructive! |
bsuib: Ya,english is not my language so i cant waste my precious time improving it but getting informations 2 help otherz. I think u should do d same. Were u researching in Boko Haram language? What a silly excuse! |
Sijo01: e-war?.......that's certainly not it. what she stated up there is an obvious attitude exhibited by some guys. Just as "Anslem stated: I don't see any man in my church having a prayer point for a bride". have you seen any @Nonso?. Some prefer to die in silence than to seek for an emotional guidance/counsel.Cos most women see marriage as an accomplishment while most men see it as a lifetime endeavor, a continuum. Most men know that marriage is expensive and must be paid for while most women think of their wedding as a Royal one even when they have not saved up 100k for it. I was surprised to see that most of the my female friends , who are marriage seeking, didn't know how much it will cost to buy baby formulae, diapers, house rent etc. |
U should ve been researching on how to improve ur English! |
taharqa: So 7 Private Jets are now part of d Presidential Fleet, abi??..... Some of u Chaps should continue to WASTE YOUR LIVES here on NL, writing thrash, whilst Smart businessmen accompany the President and Strike Investment deals on his visits to various countries. It is allowed...There is nothing smart about these "businessmen". They are money laundry conduits used by politickricians to milk the county dry. Show me these businessmen who built their businesses like strive masiyiwa, founder of Econet Wireless or Mo Ibrahim, founder of Celtel. Naija has only 2 billionaires while India over 50 billionaires according to Forbes, how many times does India PM fly to an event with 7 private jets? Naija is not in top 5 of Kenya's trading partner. . Mombasa refinery refines about 13.5m barrels of crude in a year while Naija imports refined products. Kenya exports petroleum products to neighboring countries like Uganda and Burundi. Kenya should teach Naija some common sense in management .Typical Naija mentality of sheer profligacy |
prince paris: I love Nigeria, and I love Nigerians. Sentiments before reasons. There are no countries where development was forced. Be it India, Malaysia or anywhere in the west. You first need to get right at home. Develop your own local facilities first. You start with manufacturing small parts then large parts come in. A country that cannot manufacture a simple standard quality headlamp or bulb. India, Indonesia, Malaysia etc that we citing as example did not do it by government fiat. This is 2014 not 1974. We need the infrastructure in place first and foremost. Electricity, Roads, Rail, education etc. India became a technological powerhouse by having a good number highly trained workforce and engineers and a technical infrastructure that enticed western industrialists to come and invest to take advantage of the synergies on offer. Business is never charity. Invest and expect returns. No developed or developing economy can get to the promise land by running on generators. None got dia without a good railway network. All the ingredients are not just ready yet we want to cook the soup. It is not possible. To me this is just a revenue generating and looting gimmmick.Doesnt that give u an insight on how Naija policy makers think? Nairaland is a microcosm of Naija! |
stpat1: It has to start someday. The time is nowIt does not start by govt fiat or executive decision, but by building a world class infrastructure to attract heavy industries. Let the govt build infrastructure and they will come! |
stpat1: @Siena, I still find it hard to believe that this is coming from you. Are you saying nothing good can come out of Nigeria? The cars to be assembled in Nigeria do not necessarily have to be these. You should know that any quality car can be assembled in Nigeria under the right environment and political backing.Cos Sienna knows the challenges of building a car manufacturing plant. IVM gets their powertrain from Cummins, USA and another Chinese maker. Someone who has never designed a house doesn't start making plans on building a skyscraper. Primary school before University! |
jibs4lv: hunnm encouragement at least but to say d fact, oyinbo ppl has gone far far ahead of us, lets just acept dat cos I cant imagine if Baba peace could use dis as official car or hw wud I burn my 1.2m on dis kind of car....? my little advice is government sud reduce d price to dat of korope/ keke napep so dat we nigerian can patronize d product." Knowing is not enough, you must apply; willing is not enough, you must do" Naija lacks application and execution.. Happy New Year dreamer! |
ketoprofen: so what are u blabbing? What a blatant display of arrogant idiocy! |
chebeoc: I don't know why everyone is complaining about power and how nigerian price 'll go up because of no electricity, but you refuse ask how much is labour in nigeria to compare to these countries.mini-wage in nigeria is less than $150 a month in nigeria but in those countries it's from 400$ up, so we have some advantage there.1st paragrahp: Low skilled labor is cheap in Naija, but highly skilled workforce is scarce let alone industrial manufacturing with high tech and optimization systems. Why is it that foreign skilled and trained workforce is still exploring and drilling our oil after over 50 years of oil majors in Naija? The cost of hiring and retaining expats to work in auto industry in Naija would wipe out whatever gain u might have made in hiring low skilled labor like security and drivers. Naija universities are teaching Fortran77 while we are talking about folks who are qualified as automotive manufacturing engineers.. Does any Naija university offer automotive engineering? Nobody is against Naija building her own car but build the infrastructure first. It's like trying to do a heart suggery on a patient when there are no hospitals and doctors. Why can't govt ban foreign medical trips and in order to " force" Cleveland Clinics" to come to Naija? Same way GSM companies came and charge the most expensive fees and offer the crappiest service. |
solomon111: Guy abeg go and sit down.Same ignorant posture politicians have maintained: we can become a developed nation without building infrastructure. We tried these things with ANAMCO, Volkswagen, PAN. Time to focus on infrastructure. We cannot compete with RSA in manufacturing when we generate 3500MW while RSA generates 40k MW. Dangote is into essential commodities i.e cement for shelter and food products while car manufacturing is part of durable goods and falls under discretionary spending |
lohvang4: Most of the people laughing at the govt effort to have made-in-Nigeria vehicles are either ignorant or deceitfully-wicked! These same people complain of no job, no industry, no money. Yet they want Nigerians to continue these consumption-economy that our useless rulers have established. Check out the video of Innosson Motor vehicle manufacturing plant and i am very proud to be a Nigerian. With people like Mr. Innosson who has no master in economy or military connections to have pull off this stunt, Nigeria is due for greatness. If the tariff increase is implemented, more of such vehicle manufacturing companies would spring up in no time. Mahatma Gandhi did more than increase tariff, India stopped living on imported goods. Any country that import its food, vehicles, clothing, has no future!Cos u are an ignoramus who does not know what it takes to build cars. I have been to Innoson factories and know a couple of his vendors. His Enugu plant alone has about 15 pcs of damaged 100-1500KVA gen sets. 45k litre tankers deliver diesel everyday to this factory. Dangote had to spend $million to build power plants for Obajana Cement plant. Folks like u who have not risked 50k in any investment love political statements like this. " knowledge is not enough , we must apply; willing is not enough, we must do" |
Crybabe! Why does he feel that someone owes him some money and help? What happened to the money he made and blew on women, bling, fancy cars and clothes? |
musiwa112: nigeria have been making cars for more than 30 years. nigeria makes several cars before... i dont know about now.. many years ago.. nigeria made its owns cars.Stupidity powered by satellite pics. France is not Nigeria |
Raggedy_Ann: I don't know what the Picanto goes for in the UK but I imagine the cost varies from what obtains in the Nigerian market. Several factors are to be considered. For instance, Elizade sells brand new Toyotas from the manufacturers in Durban and the price and specs are different from what one would find in the USA for example. Anyway, I patronize Dana motors and I know what the rates are, you can get current price lists online to confirm. With £10, 245 ( about N2, 561, 250)you get a Rio (auto) wIth change, I got a cerato (auto, alloy wheels, 1.6l), last month for N3, 450, 000 after vat! I doubt you could get one in the UK for £13, 800.But Dana Cerato comes with an airbag or no air bag. Also, Dana Cerato has only D, N, P while EU/US standard would D1, D, N,P with at least 4 airbags . Don't even talk about crash testing! |
ndu_chucks: Talk to me as a reasonable adult here. Why do you think that a 250% increase in tariffs is necessary to support an automobile manufacturing (assembly) industry which is still in its infancy and why couldn't tariffs be introduced gradually, if they think it is absolutely necessary? If indeed quality new cars can be assembled and sold for N1.2million, why not let these cars compete in the open market for market share? Please answer these questions honestly and lets discuss the merits of the 250% increase in tariffs.C They won't answe u. Why is Toyota the best selling brand in Naija. They sold about 20k new units this year. How many Picantos sold? How many Tatas? The policy is more likely to favor foreign companies than Nigerians since Naija does not manufacture cars. |
daz_york: And how will those industries come into being without there being a demand for them? Why would anybody need to produce drive shafts in Nigeria if we just import our vehicles from elsewhere?U still don't get it. U don't start of making cars when u can't provide your population with electricity, education and infrastructure. It takes decades of planning and investment in public infrastructure to attract car manufacturing. Car manufacturing has 2 major components: powertrain and drivetrain. Powertrain involves engines while drivetrain involves suspension and driveshaft. Naija can focus on drivetrain components and body parts which have have been cornered by Chines, Taiwanese and Mexicans, then work towards making powertrain. China auto industry still lags behind Korea and Japan.. It's called comparative advantage! |
daz_york: I didn't know that the policies of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a country of 180 million people with a land mass of 993,000 sq. km must apply to every government official before the public. Even assuming that every public official in Nigeria gets an import waiver (which is impossible), what difference does that make to the large amount of ongoing capital flight that will be stopped if most ordinary people buy vehicles which are assembled or manufactured here?U failed to add 180m with 3000 MW of electricity wants to build cars without electrifying the whole country. 180m folks but there is no university witn automotive engineering course offering Do you know what it takes to build car? Now, many Naija companies are making drivetrain pairs like driving shaft, suspension system, struts, caliper linkage system, body parts? Where is the steel industry to supply needed rolled and processed sheet of metals? |
Is this different from typical Naija village? |
ketoprofen: Am sure innoson will come with brighter ideasSince they have not come, why impose high tariffs on used ones? Toyota Nigeria sold less than 20k new units this year.. highest in the country. It tells u that these small box cars have not gotten the attention of car buyers. |
rudedough: Bro do you live abroad? If NO then shut the fvck up, if YES, then you either don't own a car or you don't own an imported car. Taxes on imported cars is way above 300%. I own one and i am telling you from experience not hearsay.because u don't have the brain to grasp common sense. Tata, Scion, skoda and chinese brands are going to be imported. Keke Napep is made by Bajaj of India. Why impose high tariff on tukonboh and allow their cronies to import brand new cars? How many public official are going to get import waivers to import cars of their choice? Does living in Naija negate common sense? |
presher: just assumption and guess who is naivebecause it takes more than a Naija minister's pronouncement to build a car. It's not a govt official that designs a car but car companies. Naija does not even have prototype but Tata is already making one, even though it's failure as TATA recently said. U don't build cars by executive FIAT but by long term planning! This is like another " we will generate 10K MW by Dec 2013. |
agabaI23: What if he is the original author in the daily? What stops him from being the original author? You don't expect brainy guys to be posting with you on NL?He's not! What a display of arrogant idiocy! |
Lifebender: Haters stop your critics.Rome wasnt built in a day.Even if it was the first model, better models will soon be around in the coming years.Atleast we're going somewhere.Japan and states started from here........Proudly Nigerian and naively follower |
Truckpusher: But you want the same country to industrialize? It's about common sense! Tata tried selling a $5k and failed. Industrialization does not start from making cars. Make bicycle, wheelbarrow and motorcycle first. |
Nope Naija masses made president |
