The main problem with Nigeria is the people in the country. At this time, we should be working more to see that these people we have put our trusts in and voted for do not fumble and that people who want to derail their good plans and ambitions do not succeed.
I am a Yoruba and I refuse to go tribal if I really want Nigeria to develop and move on. I am in the UK now and I have seen that if we can do away with all these tribal, ethnic and religious sentiments, we can make Nigeria a better place.

Only in a country like Nigeria will people not look beyond ethnic and religious divisions to put right what is wrong. With the level of violence in the northern part of the country, considering the damage to public and private properties and most regrettably the lives that were lost, I am of the opinion that Buhari should be made to face the music. He cannot be excused for the part he played to make sure there was violence if the result has not gone his way and only God knows what gave him the conviction or assurance that he was going to win anyway.

I know trying him is virtually impossible because for the kind of country Nigeria is, people will cry foul that it is because he is a northerner and I bet we can expect more violence than the ones we have just seen but it is high time we drawn a line under instigation of violence of the kind we have witnessed from Buhari or anyone for that matter.

I hope there is a provision for this in our law!!

I am sure most people cannot say the election was 100% free and fair, but what should be the direction if that was the case? Protest or killing of innocent lives?

People's lives that are lost cannot be redeemed and that is the main reason why the actions of the hoodlums shouldn't be encouraged or applauded as seems to be the case from some quarters.

As far as the destruction and burning of properties go, when will people start to realise that the funds the government would have used to better their lives is the fund that will be used to replace the destroyed properties and this means no progress in their community?

As bad as PDP and  GEJ can be and as much as we (including myself) hate to see PDP come back to power, from the figure I have seen, there was so much difference in the votes casted for GEJ than CPC, close to 10Million I reckon. The difference is so much that even total rigging could not have accounted for that going by how free&fair the election seems to be. So shouldn't CPC accept defeat with some honour?
Less I forget, B&B should be held responsible for instigating violence because that's exactly what they have done. Their calculations that they can win and moreso the illusion that they can win alone has been their downfall and this has certainly bring an end to Buhari's political era.

"Laakuli" - I have just confirmed that the news that Buhari met with the so-called Northern elders is true. I have been neutral on who becomes the president as long as he delivers but we this latest development, I am going to start vigorous campaign against Buhari.

At this critical time, the one who wants to be the presido shouldn't be crying for anything but scheming how to prevail in the polls.
This man is meant to be an Army General. He should have wept and that should have been what propel him to join the race. Simple as it may be!

The result of last Saturday's polls goes a long way to define the people of South-West in particular. It reminds me of the AD era when the people like Osoba, Tinubu, LAM and co were elected with little convincing required on the part of the voters. It was then all about trust and the fact they belong to the Awoism clan. Any candidate the AD put forward was guaranteed the post at the time. However, almost all the elected governors abused their postion and trust in them leading to the cracked walls that let PDP into the S/West.
With PDP fumbling in the last 12 years or so, the mantle is back with ACN which is line with what I call the Awoism school of thought. Fashola has single-handedly done well to help in the trust once apportioned to the party that belongs to this school of thought and we have witnessed the restoration of the trust from the outcome of the polls and I have no doubt this pattern will follow through the coming elections, mainly the gubernatorial.
The people of the S/West and other states that share their ideology by voting in ACN can the perceived as enlightened and more outward-looking bunch who cannot be bought by money (tokens) because you can imagine how much the PDP candidates have on offer to win at all cost. They are people that cherish a better way of living for a lifetime more than the money which will last for days or weeks.
Now that the trust has been restored and the utmost likelihood of driving out PDP completely in this regions is right on the card, I pray and hope the governor-to-be on the ACN platform will not disappoint when they get there. I don't for a minute believe that it is difficult to make your mark and people see the difference the government has made to better their lives, considering the resources available to the states relatively.
The S/West can be a model for other regions and ultimately the presidency and the nation at large. Nobody has proven to be a saint and I reckon Nigerians are not looking for one but the little to better the lives and living condition of the populace will be really commendable looking back the last two decades

I think we should avoid jumping to conclusion on news that are not confirmed. What if the returning officer has been persuaded/bribed to dent the image of the people that have really won because the losers are not happy? I don't think this is an impossibility.

First of all, has this story been comfirmed to be exactly true? If it is, then only God will judge.
I see myself as a devout Christian and I wonder if we ( so-called Christians) are really flying the flag of Christ as we should. There was sometimes ago when a friend of mine was telling me about the number of people who die in Naija because of simple reasons e.g there are not drugs to use for them in the hospitals or they have been asked to go and bring some money and because they can't find it, they have been left to die by the hospital staff etc. I guess some of these stories are true.
Please note, I know no church can meet all the needs of Nigerians and come to think of it Churches are no governments, but providing a lot of drugs, infrastructures etc will go a very long way.
I believe some churches may be doing some of these charity works but we can all say it is not enough.

Have you got a letter from the Home Office saying they are granting you some kind of stay? If so, I think what you should just need is to take that letter (with other doc required) to the Naija high commision and shouldn't need any police report. Police report for what? This is not a lost case.
As someone above advised, arrange to have a meeting with one of the top staff. I can give names here but I was there some months ago and the place has improved alot even though I am hearing that they are probably messing up again.

As I won't be in the country to vote, I pray and hope the best candidate to revolutionise 9ja wins this election. I have always been a fan of 2 party contesting for the post so that other small small parties won't be a distraction.

I will never stop being baffled by events in this great country called Nigeria and I believe this applies to most people.
I have had some arguments and discussions with people since Bode George went to jail and my point was always that a person like him and his position in the ruling party - PDP can only be humiliated as thus only and if only he steps on toes of a really powerful one. That powerful one was supposedly meant to be OBJ.
However, seeing that OBJ was said to be among those who welcome him back to life of freedom puts confusion in the air.
Could he have offended someone else, in which case someone like OBJ couldn't intervene?

If he is not insane, he should know by now that people don't want him or better still he should exhibit some dignity and let someone who has ideas rule the country.

This should not come as a surprise anyone, not me as a person anyway. Does he assume every ANC will be played in Congo? Any man will be moved by the incident but you will expect him to get over it with time and not rush to make a decision like this considering the next tournament is still far away.

As exposed as I perceived Dele Momodu to be, I am highly disappointed with what the theme and the first part of this write-up. It is high time Nigerians learnt how to apologise, say sorry. Secondly, why do the players think their football should be about strenghth and not skills? Even when it is easy to pass and score, they prefer to just shoot. This is not how to play this beautiful game and that is why teams who play that way in England for example will never achieve anything. As for the frausters, I used to reply with " Go find something better to do" but I just ignore the mails these days. Most people who are not dumbs will never fall for those kind of mails with yahoo or gmail etc as receipient's addy even though I will agree that some GREEDY oyinbos may still fall for these scams.

People in US and UK and elsewhere receive letters from fraudulent Nigerians telling them they are beneficiaries to some large amount of monies everyday. I receive these letters once in a while but my Nigerian friend in Yankee gets it once a week or so.
An oyinbo colleague in my office got one last week and she jokingly called the attention of 2 other colleagues saying they should "come and see another of the letters from Nigeria or Ghana". She finished by saying what a shame, the email address of the fraudster is yahoo.com
I received one of the letters today and it was so brilliantly composed that you will think the writer could get a good job in most place of work anywhere on the globe.

What makes most of the letters stupid, senseless and disgraceful is the public email address like yahoo, hotmail and gmail etc they use. Can you imagine something like:

barkindosanusi61@yahoo.com - for Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo
mrjmoviazenith@aol.com - for Mr. Jim Ovia

Please use common sense and stop it if you are one of them or tell him if you know one of the guys involved!!!
