i was placed on a Ban since last week which i could not partake on the argument of PGD(C).i don't think such argument should be brought to this part 11 anymore and whoever says pgd(c) is not an academic progression,it is a capital LIE.Two of my friends are in canada on a PGC program! PGC study programs are mostly aimed at a targeted work. But the issue i v observed from Nairaland is 69% of pgc(d) applicants are 3rd class degree holders and as i feel,a VO could be afraid of issuing you TRV even if the program relates, cos he doesn't feel your real intention is to study in Canada/you might not cope with the academic challenges and abandon your studies for hustling cool.mind you Canada wants your brain and not only your money. some even choose low programs level below their Bsc and come here and say it's PGC(D)
secondly, some are already masters holder and they apply for pgd(c) and obliviously declaring the masters degree on their applications,so tell me how a VO would be convinced about your purpose of visit?
Thirdly,as i have seen on some people's post, even with the correlation of program, they got refused,i feel also the VO have not convincingly seen why you need a pgc(d) at that particular point in ur career,e.g the prospects of the intended program, will the pgd(c) elevate ur profile from a level 9 staff to manager? will it also increase ur salary from 10k to 90k? e.t.c,these are sentiments to consider. if you have a good paying job and have worked for many years...,masters/phd/mba is the alternative route if your intention is to Study
fourthly, having done your best even at choosing the program that relates and convincing the VO,a VO might still not want to give you the TRV and refuse you on silly excuses.so if you can get a masters admission, the safer..
i disassociate myself from PGC(D) arguments because some i didnt say all applicants here are complex students and they would not reveal the underlying facts of their profiles which could be exclusively behind their refusals which now result to unwarranted arguments occupying spaces/pages here on Nairaland. Till i get my own reply from Accra..i take my self back to a low key mode.

You change course at the same level or higher, postgraduate diploma is more or less a preparatory/entry course. Immigration-wise its hardly for somebody with degree and work experiences.
studied physics and going for advanced diploma in instrumentation and control engineering technology

I really want to ask this...

Why would anybody with Bsc and sometimes work experience spend millions traveling to Canada to do Postgraduate diplomas/certificates courses?
What if it's the person wants to change course and the person opt for an Advanced diploma

The Tension here is fever pitch. The lesson to be learned here is that nobody should keep all their eggs in CIC's basket...they obviously do not take these applications nearly as urgent or as importantly as we perceive they ought to. Stop paying advance tuition (being overly invested financially) and apply for alternatives (SA, USA, Australia etc)...spread opportunities rather than waiting on these guys for weeks unending. For paper applicants, let's stop submitting our passports on the reason for needing to use it during their infinity visa processing period...if they have visa to give, let them ask for it.

UK universities have started to come on radio to advertise their schools, listened to Coventry uni this morning asking people to still come apply for next month's semester. they recognize this country is a big market and patronage is in a free fall because of the exchange rate and unaccommodating immigration options for international students.

I doubt if the mails you're all ending would make any difference. They most likely wouldn't even be read by him. And frankly, we are non Canadians outside Canadian territories, how is your headache his headache? Got a problem with the processing time, first email them, if nothing then drag 'em out and confront in public on twitterr and FB...they have accounts I should assume. Tag as many associated institutions and parastatals. If they are going to take a piss, our 55k gives us the licence to make it messy!
is Australian student visa not as tedious as Canadian visa.

michV:
good morning all, to encourage all PGC/PGD students,i came up with a sourced fact that PURPOSE OF VISIT is as a result of inconsistency in program.you can hardy hear of program inconsistency when it comes to masters or phd applicants.
lemme first quote moniker @favour0011 that said she applied to a college last year which i have read her profile and it happened she applied to HUMBER college and for PROJECT MANAGEMENT program cos from your recent MENG program in Elect/Comp Eng. in UoW ontario i presume you studied Electrical or Computer Engineering or Physics with Electronics.yes Engineers can manage huge projects and they do field work but Project Management as a course is not consistent/related with either Elect/Elect or Computer Engineering.i studied Elect/Elect Engineering and i don't think throughout my 5yrs we were taught anything related to Project Management even as a subject topic sef because i have checked my transcript to be sure in case i have forgotten.in addition, CONGRATULATIONS on your recent TRV with your new program @favour0011
i also saw @ another moniker but not yet certain that studied Accounting and going for Human Resource Management. Even if they are related as a profession which i don't think so,they are not related as a program. My friend was refused on PURPOSE OF VISIT/CURRENT EMPLOYMENT SITUATION,He studied Estate Management and going for Project Management program in Conestoga College, his GCMS note came out last month and it was as a result of program inconsistency.more especially to PGC/PGD we should be careful when choosing a program, don't say i feel it's related. I can't use because i studied LEGAL SYSTEM and PEACE & CONFLICTS as a GSE/GES courses in my 100/200LEVEL and i will go and take up Human Resource Management as a program in Canada. For my field of Engineering, see a real time relationship and consistency; UG study: Electrical Electronics Eng, Occupation: Electrical Engineer, PGC: Wireless Communication. one can't be refused on PURPOSE OF VISIT rather they should find another fault if they want to refuse the applicant. To those refused, sorry and request for GCMS and give it another try if you have a good CGPA you can as well as try masters. When we do write our SOPs try to state why you chose to study in Canada, why such school, why the program and what was your motivation behind it,the benefit of the program in enhancing your employment prospects in home country,if it would also elevate your position and remuneration, state it in writing.i feel VOs read SOPs and see if your study intents align with their thoughts about your program and the prospects to detect genuine student more especially to PGC/PGD/DIPLOMA applicants.i think too they also look into how lucrative your program will be to your career in reference to your academic qualification and home country so as to motivate you return back home.
Thanks all, while i await for my turn from Accra Immigration. i just felt to chip in this to calm those that might have done the right thing for GOD to favour us and to future pgc/pgd/diploma applicants to choose their programs rightfully
i studied pure and applied physics..going for instrumentation and control engineering technology at lambton college. Hope I'm go to go

I cry for Nigeria. Imagine CBN directing all banks to sell dollar to pilgrimage at the rate of #197 per $1 while students are buying it at the rate of #330 per $1....they claim we are the leaders of tomorrow and they are making life difficult for us.

its not all about paying tuition fees but having a credible sponsorship with good sufficient funds in the VO's eye. if your LOA states payment of tuition as a condition to meet the unconditional offer, then pay or if it specified tuition payment as a condition to secure your seat before a specific deadline, then pay. at times you might pay a full duration tuition fees but if the sponsor/sponshorship is not credibe(using company sponsorship)to the VO's eyes,i don't see it excelling, but even if the sponsor is credible and have paid ur full tuition fee for ur duration, ensure that there is sufficient funds for ur MAINTEANCE/LIVING EXPENSES /TRANSPOATATION without working in canada in ur sponsor's account/transfered to yours if not you could be faulted in this aspect for insufficiency.
make i face duty..later!
what if an applicant plan to borrow study loan from his employer say like 3million and the money is transferred into his or her account from the company's account. Pls what's ur take on that pls
