Seeds Of Destiny FORGETTING THE PAST AND MAXIMISING THE PRESENT 16 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here CLICK HERE TO READ MORE open heaven September daily devotional here Until you forget the failures of yesterday, you cannot take delivery of the success of today and the opportunities of tomorrow. SCRIPTURE: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Philippians 3:13. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you forget the failures of yesterday, you cannot take delivery of the success of today and the opportunities of tomorrow. From our studies earlier, we saw that wisdom is profitable for daily living. And we have been exploring specific wisdom tips for daily living. We noted that it is wisdom to put God first, appreciate Him always and prepare your ways before Him daily. Today, we shall look at other things to do that constitute wisdom for daily living: 1. Do not waste time lamenting missed opportunities and failures of yesterday. Learn from the missed opportunities and failures of yesterday to live profitably today. In Philippians 3:13, Paul said, Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Forget the things which are behind. This is because until you forget the failures of yesterday, you cannot take delivery of the success of today and the opportunities of tomorrow. There is no future in the past; you don’t walk backward into the future. To go into the future, you must walk forward. The easiest way to waste today is to lament yesterday and worry over tomorrow. 2. Be aggressively on the lookout for the opportunities and possibilities that the day brings. Every day is pregnant with opportunities and possibilities. No wonder Proverbs 4:18 says, But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Truly, the path of the just is designed to shine more and more each day. Psalm 84:7 corroborates this: They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. Each day comes with fresh opportunities and possibilities. If there seems to be no opportunity or possibility at all, there is the opportunity or possibility of correcting what was not done well the day before. So, be on the lookout for fresh opportunities. The truth is, what you look out for determines what you locate in life. There can be no manifestation without expectation. Expectation births experience. Those who expect nothing experience nothing. There are those who go through the day casually and usually as just any other day and so they see or experience nothing. Things don’t happen for you because you deserve them; things happen for you because you desire them. Things happen because you are desperate for them. My counsel is, waste no time lamenting missed opportunities of yesterday; look out for fresh opportunities today. Remember this: Until you forget the failures of yesterday, you cannot take delivery of the success of today and the opportunities of tomorrow. Seeds Of Destiny PREPARING YOUR WAYS BEFORE GOD 15 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here The best place to arrange and prepare what you are to do for the day is at the place of prayer. SCRIPTURE: So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God. 2 Chronicles 27:6 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The best place to arrange and prepare what you are to do for the day is the place of prayer. Earlier, we saw that appreciation to God is wisdom for daily living because your life appreciates when you appreciate God. On the other hand, your life depreciates when you refuse to appreciate God. So, appreciation to God is wisdom for daily living. Now, another wisdom tip for daily living is, preparing your ways in the day before the Lord. In preparing your ways in the day before the Lord, you identify critical things that must be done in the day. What this means is that you should maintain a schedule for each day. 2 Chronicles 27:6 says, So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God. The best place to arrange and prepare what you are to do for the day is at the place of prayer. You prepare your day beforehand so it is not wasted. You can have a daily schedule. In your daily schedule, identify the necessary and vital things that you need to do in the day and write them down. You do this at the place of prayer. At the place of prayer, you connect wisdom, power, direction, and Divine idea for what to do for the day. Job 38:12 says, Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; Beloved, you are to command your days in the morning; tell the day how it should go. It is not just praying but scheduling or planning the day. Command it and give it a direction. Identify what you must do for each day if the day must be successful. But don’t over schedule it with many things so it doesn’t get congested and you get frustrated at the end of the day if everything on your schedule is not achieved. Don’t over-load your schedule with numerous activities. Just ensure that things that are very critical and vital to move your life forward are included in your schedule for the day. Preparing your way in the day before the Lord is a secret of might. To do otherwise is like entering a vehicle before asking the driver where he is going. It is like starting a journey in the day without knowing where you are going. It can also be likened to entering a university before finding out what course you are to study. It is not supposed to be so. My counsel is, prepare your ways in the day before the Lord. Don’t start a journey into the day before knowing where you are going. Live wisely daily. PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to schedule my day before it starts. Help me not to waste my day, Lord, in Jesus’ Name. FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: WISDOM FOR DAILY LIVING. Seeds Of Destiny APPRECIATING GOD FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF LIFE 14 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here The privilege of seeing a new day is a gift from God. So, the habit of appreciating God always for seeing a new day is wisdom for daily living. SCRIPTURE: Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 150:6 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The habit of appreciating God always for seeing a new day is wisdom for daily living. In our last study, we saw the first wisdom for daily living. It is putting God first in our days. That is, communing with God first in the morning before doing other things. Today, we shall look at another wisdom tip for daily living and that is, appreciating God for the privilege of life – appreciating Him for the gift of the day. The privilege of seeing a new day is a gift from God. So, the habit of appreciating God always for seeing a new day is wisdom for daily living. Today is your present; yesterday was your past and tomorrow will be your future. Today is a gift from God; appreciate God for it. Psalms 150:6 says, Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Appreciate God for the gift of life. What you don’t appreciate will depreciate. The day will lose its value if you don’t value it before God with appreciation. The day loses worth if you don’t know and appreciate its worth before God. A day will pass like every other day if you don’t appreciate God for it. It was not your wisdom, educational qualification, certificate, anointing that woke you up today; it was the mercy of God. The Psalmist, in Psalm 3:5, says, I laid me down and slept; I awake for the Lord sustained me. This means, if God does not sustain you, you won’t wake up. So, you have to thank God for the gift and privilege of life. Appreciate Him for the gift of the day. Seeds Of Destiny THE NECESSITY OF WISDOM 12 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here Wisdom is key to profit. If your days must be filled with profits and not losses, you need to confront each day with wisdom. SCRIPTURE: If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct. Ecclesiastes 10:10 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If you are to fulfil your days without stress and struggle, you need wisdom. We need wisdom to live productively. Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that wisdom is profitable to direct. It is important to know that wisdom is responsible for many things in life. Wisdom is a vital necessity for life and destiny. Now, we shall look at why it is necessary to live wisely daily. 1. Wisdom eliminates stress and struggle (Eccl. 10:10). If the axe is blunt, it takes stress to use it to do anything; it takes wisdom to know that it needs to be sharpened before it can work effectively. This means, wisdom eliminates stress and strain in life. That is, if you are to fulfil your days without stress and struggle, you need wisdom. Wisdom eliminates stress and struggles in life. 2. Wisdom guarantees profitability (Eccl. 10:10). Wisdom is key to profit. If your days must be filled with profits and not losses, you need to confront each day with wisdom. 3. Wisdom brings direction (Eccl. 10:10). Wisdom brings direction. Wisdom is profitable to direct. So, wisdom is needed to escape confusion in life. 4. Wisdom brings multiplication. When Jesus was to feed five thousand men, beside women and children, it was wisdom that brought multiplication. The Bible makes it clear in John 6:6, And this he said to prove them: for himself knew what he would do. Because He knew what to, He multiplied five loaves and two fishes. Beloved, determine to connect Divine wisdom for stress-free exploits in life and destiny. That wisdom is released upon you today Jesus’ Name. Seeds Of Destiny MORE ENEMIES OF THE RIGHT THOUGHT 11 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here When you allow bitterness to fill your mind, you won’t be able to constructively reason your way to your future. SCRIPTURE: But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fath1 Kings 19:4. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are tensed, your mind is fenced. Yesterday, we looked at three enemies of the right thought. We saw that fear, worry, and filthy intakes are some of the enemies of the right thought. Today, we shall consider more enemies of the right thought. It is important to know these enemies because the enemies you don’t know, you cannot defeat. Now, take note of these three more enemies of the right thought. 1. Sin (Mark 7:21). Sin affects the mind negatively. For example, when the mind of a student is filled with filthy and immoral thought, his mental focus will be distracted, and that in turn can negatively affect his academic performance. 2. Unforgiveness and Bitterness (Hebrews 12:15). Bitterness is an enemy of the right thought. Your mind is blocked and chocked with negative emotions when, for instance, you think about people who offended you, how terrible their offences were and how you are going to revenge. When you allow bitterness to fill your mind, you won’t be able to constructively reason your way to your future. Leave your offenders and their offences to God and move forward! Most times, when you don’t release people, you have also not released yourself. Holding people in your mind holds you down as well. 3. Depression (1 Kings 19:1-10). Depression is a mental condition; it renders the mind dysfunctional. So, don’t allow yourself to be weighed down by depression. Don’t think depressive thoughts like, “Why is my life like this? Why has God abandoned me? I cannot continue with life anymore”, etc. When you give your mind to this kind of thought, they lead to depression, and depression will deprive you of Divine inspiration. When you are tensed, your mind is fenced. This is why Jesus Christ asked the question in Matthew 6:27: “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” Beloved, make up your mind never to give in to sin, bitterness and depression so you can think productively. Seeds Of Destiny THE ENEMIES OF THE RIGHT THOUGHT 10 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here Fear is an enemy of the right thought. When you allow your mind to be choked with fear, it is impossible for you to reason productively. You have just one mind which cannot be used to fear and think positively at the same time. SCRIPTURE: Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? Matthew 6:31. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you worry, you are combining the failures of yesterday with the challenges of today and the uncertainties of tomorrow. In our previous studies, we explored the focus of thought. We saw that it is important to focus our thought on the Word of God and the Works of God, amongst other things. Now, there are enemies that distract peoples’ thought from being centred on the right things. Today, we shall look at three of these enemies of the right thought. 1. Fear Fear is an enemy of the right thought. When you allow your mind to be choked with fear, it is impossible for you to reason productively. You have just one mind which cannot be used to fear and think positively at the same time. There are situations where people are so afraid that they can fail examinations even though they are very brilliant. There was a classmate of mine in the university who was one of the most intelligent students in class at that time. But once it was examination time, he would be so afraid that he would begin to shake and vibrate. Fear makes people write the wrong things in the examination hall. Many people forget what they know because of fear, only to remember it after the examination. It is not possible to think straight and think well in the climate of fear. So, deal with fear by the word of God. 2. Worry and anxiety This is a situation when a person is tensed up. Worry is the opposite use of the mind. Thinking makes you to profitably imagine the future and strategically arrive at the way to get there; but worry keeps you in the past and the present. When you worry, you are combining the failures of yesterday with the challenges of today and the uncertainties of tomorrow. Worry chokes your mentality, weighs you down and makes you not to think straight. To think does not mean you should worry. Worry is a useless use of the mind; it is the situation where you focus on a problem and think how it is impossible to get out of it. But thinking is breaking the problem down and reasoning your way out of it to the next level. 3. Corrupt and filthy intakes into the mind. It is not possible to be a pornographic or movie addict and have a useful mind. In our days, people watch all manner of evil things in the name of movies. When your mind is focused on the things you watched in a movie, much space in your mind is taken. You cannot use your mind to constructively arrive at your future. Therefore, avoid corrupt or filthy intake. It chokes your mind from being productive. Remember this: When you worry, you are combining the failures of yesterday with the challenges of today and the uncertainties of tomorrow. Seeds Of Destiny MORE FOCUS FOR OUR THOUGHT 09 September 2020 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE Seeds of destiny & other daily devotional here Let the thought of the path of your God-ordained purpose and destiny occupy your mind always. SCRIPTURE: Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Proverbs 4:25-26. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Let the thought of the path of your God-ordained purpose and destiny occupy your mind. Previously, we saw some of the things we need to focus our thought on. We saw that it is necessary to think on God’s Word, God’s Works and on what is desirable and lovable. Today, we shall be looking at more things to focus our thought on. 1. The path of purpose and destiny Let the thought of the path of your God-ordained purpose and destiny occupy your mind. Ask yourself: “What am I doing with my life? How impactful will my life be in the land of the living? What will I be remembered in eternity for? What mark am I making on the sands of time and eternity?” Proverbs 4:25-26 says, Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. This means, you ask yourself, “How can I make my life more useful to God? How can I make my life more profitable to my generation?” Fix your thought on the path of purpose and destiny. 2. The priorities and posteriorities of life. Think about what you want to put in front of you (Proverbs 4:25-26). Ponder the path of your feet. Don’t look left or right but just face your front. Think on what you have done in the past that is profitable and do it again and again. Ask yourself, “In what way have I engaged my life and time in the past that did not profit me? How can I put them behind? What are the things that I am meant to put in front to pursue now?” When you do this, you are set for a glorious and explosive destiny. The truth is, there are some friends around you that you may need to put behind. You don’t hate them, but they haven’t added any good thing to your life. They could be very demanding of your time, patience, and love. It may be a job that doesn’t profit you. It could even be a habit. Put them behind you. Do what you need to do today and don’t wait till tomorrow. These are the things you need to focus your thought on.
