Yes, You can fill a new DS 160 and be sure to update the NEW DS confirmation number in your application. Alternatively, you can retrieve the information in the old DS 160 you already submitted, that would only requiring you updating or changing only the relevant information. You can do this by going through the retrieval option and then click on create new DS information. I hope that helps! iyanuakin: |

While the approval rate is very high in Canada, making Canada a better place to do your interview but for the appointment date. You still have a chance in Nigeria. Think about home tie as not planning to permanently relocate to the US as opposed to having your family back in Nigeria. Your family is in Canada and so you would be demonstrating that you do not have intentions of moving permanently to the US. You may also keep checking for earlier date in Canada same way you could get an earlier date in Nigeria. Also, if you can demonstrate reason visiting your sister for health reason, or emotional imbalance due to distance from your sister (perhaps a therapist can provide a statement or letter), you may be able to expedite your appointment in Canada. You still got a chance in Nigeria, I dont think your family being in Canada would demonstrate weak home tie. if not for the date constraint, you are better off going for the visa interview in Canada with 76% B1/B2 approval rate as at 2023 than in Nigeria where it is less than 40% approval rate. Quick question, since your family is not planning to go with you for the interview in Nigeria (if you eventually decide to do), do you know if you can cancel your family appointment without affecting your own appointment. If you could check and let me know that would be helpful. I sent you a DM. Enick: |

Agbo2014: First log into your page and see if the "reschedule" option appears for you. If you have never rescheduled, then you should have the option. So, yes, you can reschedule but the earliest available date as at today is May 22, 2025. However, there is a possibility of getting date in September 2024 but extremely difficult and chances are slim. As at 2022 when you purchased your MRV, you could reschedule 3 times. But right now, you can only reschedule once. I do not know if you have the 3 times option or the one time reschedule option. I would think it should be based on the updated platform and not a function of when you paid visa fee. so not sure about that. 2 Likes |

Localboy48: It is NO joke! UF ranks by far better than UMD. I do not need to look at usnews.com to know this. UF is the flagship university in Florida. It ranks among the top 5 public schools in America, ranked No1 Pubic school by Wallstreet journal. No 1 school in America for best value for money. Even a blind man will tell you UF is not UMD mate. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities. 2 Likes |

Slimszy: Hey! Congratulations on your acceptance. First, I will make my recommendations for what you should look out for when you have two competitive offers. 1. The program at the University, sometimes schools may rank higher, but specific programs may be better in a lower ranked school. E.g. John Hopkins is seen as the No 1 Medical school but it's no where near Harvard or Stamford in general University ranking. 2. The University ranking. It is important. Without looking at Us.news. I know for a fact that UF is a better school in terms of University ranking. UF has maintained top 5 public schools in America for a long time (among top publics like UC Berkley, UCLA, UMichigan, UVirginia, UNC Chapel Hill) It was recently ranked No 1 Public school by wallstreet. UMaryland is private school but still not higher than UF in national ranking. Do a quick research yourself. 3. The alumni network is a big factor, UF has a very strong alumni network - Gator Nation. I cannot overstate how important this can be until you graduate. 4. Opportunities in school and after school. The professors, the quality of students, what you would be exposed to in school, where their graduate end up after school. Just to add UF is located few hours from Orlando, which housed Disney world, Universal Studio, Sea world and the likes, saying this cos your degree is in painting or fine art. 5. Money, Funding, cost of living. Putting all these together but it matters when the two options are very close in terms of ranking and opportunities. Cost of living is higher in college park than in Gainesville, Florida is not really cheap but Gainesville isnt crazily expensive. However, Maryland is close to DC few hours to Philly and New York. Finally, I will recommend you speak with current students in both schools to also get first hand information. If you want to chat about UF, you can send a DM. I can also link you up with current students in UMaryland, got friends there. Goodluck with your decision. 3 Likes |

Hello, My niece wrote the entrance exam for AFSS Ikeja this year, she passed through the first stage of the exam but her name was not listed after the interview. Does anyone have information about supplementary list? Is this a usual thing or it was just particularly for last year? We have been making enquiry about supplementary list, no one seem to have any information about it. Would appreciate any information that would be helpful. |

You may fill a completely new DS 160 and change the DS confirmation number in your application portal. That's the fastest way to go. Just make sure you have the DS 160 form completed atleast 48 hours before the interview. Harvard13: |

Babademmie: Hey bro! Lemme be brutally honest with you. Your chances are so slim with a Bachelors. Any age above 24 for a bachelors typically gets a VO to raise eyebrow. I remember when I heard my Visa interview about 3years ago, the dude who was in front of me at the Lagos embassy was 24 and was going for a bachelors degree in nursing. He was in nursing school at the time or was a practicing nurse who just finished nursing school. The VO kept talking about his age. Well, he was denied. Not saying it was because of his age. His age was really a thing of concern for the VO. But a bachelors degree at 32 doesn’t just sound right. To add to that, you already have a bachelors degree equivalent, why not go for a masters degree. Even those who have masters already and going for another masters typically shove it under the carpet at the embassy. Cos a typical question is - you already have a masters, why another master and not PhD? I’d recommend you get a masters degree! Many schools can offer you admission with your HND couple with your work experience. Good luck! 5 Likes 2 Shares |

A friend of mine is in a situation, needs profound advise. He got accepted into Uni of A and Uni of B for Fall 2022. Uni of A offered him some form of scholarship, so he decided to pay Sevis fee using the I-20 issued by Uni of A. He couldn't secure a Visa interview date at the embassy and decided to defer his admissions to Spring 2023. He got a date for visa interview for the Spring 2023 resumption (Visa interview date - November 2022). Uni of A is taking forever to issue him another I-20. He wants to switch to Uni of B for several reasons, which include the fact that he is being offered a scholarship that matches what Uni of A previously offered. Uni of B is his preferred choice was only sticking to A cos of scholarship offered. Long and short, he wants to switch schools but already paid Sevis fee with the I-20 issued from the old school of choice. I know it is possible to transfer sevis upon resumption. Is it possible to transfer Sevis before visa interview or school resumption? If this is possible, how can he go about it? Thank you |

Fabuloski: A solid background in maths is sure a factor that can help you excel in engineering. But that you have a strong background in maths doesn’t guarantee strength in these courses. Mind you, the thermo in Chem engr slightly differs from that in Mech engr (which is the easier one). They are NOT abstract mathematics ooo. In fact, you need plenty of real-life understanding of thermodynamic systems to excel in those courses. If you do your search well, you’ll be able to find a few schools that you stand a chance. Check out University of Illinois, chemical and biomolecular engineering. Good luck in your search! 5 Likes |

iPLEXUS: I believe your school has an immunization form that will be required to be completed by an Heath institution. If this is the case, take the form to a clinic along side the immunization record you have as an adult. The clinic will know how to “dogbonsi”. Would just cost you a small amount. Cos those things have spacing when you are required to take them. They can even back date for you. I’m assuming you don’t have your childhood immunization record. 2 Likes |

LagosismyHome: This is very confusing. A couple of students have gotten their I-20 shipped, while some schools still insist they can’t issue hard copy I-20 this period. We need evidence that printed I-20 would be accepted at POE. Although, the VO mentioned after interview to keep the i-20 (same printed copy used for interview) as it would be required at POE. Do we have any one who has used the printed I-20 for those who travelled in August (fall 2020 resumption) from Europe? |

Bellaluve: Applying to more than one school, gives the VO an impression that you really are fascinated about studying. I know a guy who applied to just One school and has his visa. Although he wasn’t asked how many schools he’ applied to. But he had planned to say more than 1. A few weeks ago, someone shared his transcript here. He applied to only one school and the uncle advised him to say 3 if they ask him. Then when the VO asked him to mention the schools, he mentioned schools that usually require GRE and he had said earlier he didn’t take the GRE. Well, he was denied. You see he didn’t do his homework well. It would have been better if he was honest here or he would have done his homework well. It’s better to have more than one school though. Atleast be familiar with the process even if you’ll lie. 4 Likes |

Bellaluve: First, you’ll be interviewed based on what you have on your DS-160. Lemme ask you a question, Does mentioning your step-sister gives you any particular edge in getting the Visa? I think it’s a NO. On the contrary, it gives room for further probing and questioning. IMO, I think you should save yourself the troubles. (Her status in the US also matters and if you’re able to explain in details if you’re asked...fine) You’ll rather give the VO an impression of strong home tie rather than relative abroad. Don’t get me wrong oo. Not saying it’s wrong, just think about it thoroughly. 6 Likes |

When you confirm it has been issued, then you can be sure it’s ready for pickup. I did my interview on same day though I paid same day. thedsl: Don’t explain Jack! Just put “214B reason” on the column where they ask for explanation. No need to shalaye anything. Just being curious, how exactly do you know you were refused based on “no strong ties” as you mentioned? Cos the US embassy I know doesn’t tell you reason for refusal you can only make inferences. However, your B1 refusal has nothing to do with your F1 application. Just make sure you state it there that you were once refused. Ofcus they have that info in your record. Well, I was refused a B1 visa some years back but today I have my F1. All glory to God. This shall be your testimony. All the best! 14 Likes |
